I only put moisturizer in my hair when I’m getting my two strand twist I avoid getting my hair wet because it gets frizzy and looks a hot mess. What should I do? I’ve been growing my hair for a year now.
Great question, when I don’t intend on wearing my styles for long periods of time, I’ll moisturize the hair with just oils. I usually use coconut oil because it can both penetrate and seal. Avocado Oil is another great oil to use for moisturizing your hair, as it has a lot of vitamins and nutrients that can help with hair growth. Also, Olive Oil works well. It’ll soften the hair while also giving it a lot of shine. When just using oils to add moisture to your hair, it helps maintain that neat fresh look you want to keep while also limiting the frizz and craziness that may come from wetting your hair. I suggest trying some of these oils out and seeing how it works on your hair.
@@MadeByMaj hey man, thid was really helpful, I’m like this guy and I try to avoid getting it wet cuz it looks frizzy and kinda worse compared to that fresh twist look, I was wondering, if I went a month without washing my hair after a twist out is that really bad? I got 4c btw

I just got 2 strand twist and I want to start my loc journey and I’m told I should start with starter locs is 2 strand twist the same as starter locs? When should I retwist and how often, how often should I wash it?, how often should I spray water on it
Two strand twist is good for locs and if you wanted to do something different do barrels they might itch a little bit but I’ve only had two strand and barrels and I’ve been locked for five months. That’s what I would recommend and washing your hair go a month without washing your hair after the re-twist and once you wash it after a month you can wash it however long you want to it doesn’t matter anymore. I do this mainly for when I’ve already had them in for a good minute. So they’re already kinda frizzy more so from the first week or two. I agree. Tiring your hair back if it’s long enough or just wearing some protective cap like a durag while you will help keep them in tact. If you find that the hair is starting to feel dry then I’d do this routine. Rose water is a nice light product to spray on your hair that won’t create a lot of product build up.
Not every day, if I was counting I’d say like once or twice a week now. Either a bonnet, durag, or lay on my silk pillow case
is it ok if i just mix my wild griwth oil with water in a spray bottle and spray it to maintian my twists?
Oil and water don’t usually mix well. Prolly would be better off mixing a leave in conditioner in with the water instead. Then massage the oil in ya scalp to stimulate blood flow there for growth
@@MadeByMaj which leave in conditioner is best for 4c hair
@@dammy3985 any that moisturizes your hair well and keeps it soft. Shea moisture, aunt Jackie’s, etc
@@MadeByMaj thanks
Bro
You dont shampoo after this routine? When should I shampoo then?
Nope, I shampoo my hair when I’m ready to take the twist out. Cause I want to start new with fresh clean hair for whatever style I do next. So I would suggest shampoo when you feel your hair is too dirty and you’re ready to take them out.
Thank you for the guidance!
How often do you detangle your hair
Since I usually have it in a protective style I detangle every time I’m taking it out. Which is usually every month
@@MadeByMaj ok that make sense I like to detangle my own hair so the lady’s at salon won’t yank out my hair because last time my scalp was itching I had to use itch scalp hair care by head and shoulders and scalpicin kinda help
What do you use if u don’t mind me asking?
I used all the products listed in the description in this video. Those are really my go tos tbh. Sometimes I try new stuff out just to experiment but mainly those
I have a question after you put the stuff on your hair. Do you put on your durag??
I do if I’m finna chill in the crib or got to bed. Partly because it presses down some of the frizz. If I’m going out right after though nah
@@MadeByMaj ok another question when I go to school and shower and put my stuff on my hair and when I come back from school do you put the stuff on your hair again??
@@zay2000_ nah I don’t do this multiple times in a day. At most every other day but really I’d say I do it 2-3 times a week
@@MadeByMaj ok another question is there a type of shampoo you use for twists
@@zay2000_ nah nothing in particular for twist. Just the same I would use in general
Hey bro do you let your hair get wet in the shower ?
Or nah
Nah, only when I do a co-wash. When I’m just taking a shower though I don’t let it get wet. Try to preserve the style as much as I can.
Those the same twist from the previous video right?
Yes 👍🏾
What do you do for your undercut ?
Not much besides brushing it and keeping the scalp moisturized
@@MadeByMaj do you use the hair growth oil for that ?
@@tylerramos5233 nah I used that in it when I started growing it out
@@MadeByMaj ohh okay, is there certain product you use to keep the scalp moisturized for the undercut?
@@tylerramos5233 I know it’s cliche but mainly just water😂 whenever I would do my hair routine I’ll rub some leave in conditioner in and brush it ya know. But day to day was spritzing water on it
Hey man i just got my twists do you sleep with a bomnet on or just normal?
use a bonnet to prevent breakage and drying
@@yoursshane Thank you! i got one cantu one but its too small or is it meant to be tight around your hair?
@@TheSTr8Gunner When you have twists, I would recommend something more fitting because you want to keep your twists neat. But if it's suffocating you, get something bigger but won't fall of wile you're sleeping. You might even want to try a head scarf that you can tie like a bandana. And you can even put a bonnet on top of that. Your local black beauty supply will have a bunch of cheap options you can try. Find what works for you. Good luck! Sorry this was long lol
@@yoursshane I appreciate that my guy!
You do this everyday?
No, maybe 1-2 times a week
Yours is actually called comb coils or finger coils
All that product i know you get mad build up. how often is your wash?
😂 nah I don’t. With my twist I co-wash weekly to keep them fresh and eliminate build up
Will this work for someone who is very active doing wrestling and bjj everyday?
Yea, prolly be best if you can wear some protective covering over your twist. I used to have to do that playing football
@@MadeByMaj sounds good. I've been thinking about just tying them up before practice instead since a covering would most likely come off during wrestling practice
how often should you do this
Maybe 1-2 times a week depending on how dry or ruff looking the twist are
Can i shower fully with my twists
Yea just put a shower cap on if you want to avoid getting them wet
What do u do about dandruff?
Try to get your scalp from being dry. Good tip is to make sure you massage your scalp when washing your hair to increase the blood flow and use moisturizing products that aren’t drying your hair out.
do you shampoo your twists?
I usually only cowash them. I’ll shampoo if it’s in need of a good cleansing, however I’m usually taking the twist out by that time.
How do u keep your hair moisturised every other day u don’t do this routine
It usually is still moisturized through those days. If I noticed it can use a little bit more I just spritz water over it like a mist, not a lot. Just enough to livin it up some more
Is this daliy?
I do it about 2-3 times a week
