Psychologically it's very interesting. Why is one part of your body more shameful than another part? A lot of people have been conditioned to be ashamed, or to automatically connect nudity to other things. That's not the case in a lot of cultures. Travel to most European nations and they don't have these strange Victorian attitudes.
Even in Italy, the home of the Catholic church, you don't see this kind of strong reaction to the notion of male nudity.
Even subcultures within our own don't have this kind of attitude. Rugby players aren't screeching and clutching their pearls at the sight of another man in the showers. lol
Someone who has such a strong reaction is probably just overcompensating for something. The fact that this is blatantly a cultural issue is proof enough of that.

I used to go to the office gym every morning and there was a guy exactly like this. He’d wander around naked for far longer than he needed to. He’d mooch about and go look at himself in the mirror, use the water fountain, he’d even go and sit on the toilet in the cubicle naked. I grew up playing sport so I’m not shy but the quicker I can be showered, dressed and out of there the better.
Open shower idea is ridiculous in the first place. Only exists in shameless / Christian majority countries..
These are also the people who will walk through an empty locker room and choose to get changed on the bench directly next to you.

We should never be seen in front of the women in just socks and underpants Take off your socks first before I’m dressing fully I was told this by a girlfriend, and the reason is in the history of mankind. A woman has never turned round and said you look sexy in those socks and underpants. She said it was a big turn off I’ve checked this out with other female friends and had boyfriends because they are white and they all agreed
Jodi and Nick great review, laughed out load at the standup by McIntyre but what made it was the inter - action between yourselves, the relaxed gentle ribbing of each other, (both of you seem to have decided yea! we can can do this RUclips Thing) and the personal stories connected to the standup are a nice touch. There’s a bloke in my gym, who uses a hairdrier on his bollocks and arse! Then walks round talking to everyone without a stitch of clothing. It’s not impressive either!
Shudder - there is always one, seriously mate put your clothes on! The worst is the ones who try and talk to you while doing it, seriously I am not going to look at you - and you are right it's always the older guys. Maybe you just stop caring, but no stop it, the rules are you get dressed in the fastest possible time possible and the first thing you put on is your boxers.
I actually went to a Sauna out of town with my Uncle and his mate when I was 18 and we all walked round naked because all we did was to between the Sauna, showers ,cold lounge and UV area. Only once though

I'm 43 this year and I've never been naked in a "locker room", at school we never had them, I don't belong to a gym, I find it highly weird that other men just walk around naked in these rooms, or just naked in general, I hate being naked in general I guess, not even as a kid did were walk around naked or even underwear, I don't know, we aren't like that in Australia, or my generation anyway. IMO naked is for the bedroom or bathroom otherwise put something on. I'm not religious either, nor am I a prude, not by my understanding of the word anyway.
Clearly it's a cultural/generational thing. I'm 47 this year and it was never a problem for my generation in the UK. I played sport so maybe that's the difference? It just isn't/wasn't an issue. We've all got the same junk. No one is being shocked or surprised by the fact that another man has the same equipment. There's no visceral reaction to being aware of it. It clearly is a learned prudishness because it can't be anything else. It's not a genetic thing, it's not a survival thing. Millions upon millions of people don't have this issue. It can only be the result of behavioural influence or psychological conditioning.
In 1965,when I was 13, my school built a new set of classrooms which had, in the basement a changing room and showers. The problem was the showers were just half a dozen shower heads on a wall so It was open to the whole room. It was cringeworthy for those girls who had developed breasts and just as cringeworthy for those who's breasts had not yet appeared. The only good thing was the school was single sex as most secondary schools were back then, so no fear of boys trying to catch a peek of naked girls. 😏

I used to work in a hospital kitchen and in the mess room was a place to shower and there was one guy who used to come out of the shower and would stand or sit naked and chat to you as you were eating your food. 🤢🤢🤢
