    I’ve had aLil Tex for over 12 years. Yes, it was assembled poorly. The hot rod should have been further out...like your fix. Also, start you Traeger on smoke with the lid open for 5 minutes or so. That may help.

  • @dskize1

    probably a good idea to mark it prior to moving it so if you need to adjust it more you have reference point.

      I have a 10+ year old model that just randomly stopped lighting. I replaced the rod, fuse and fire box and still not working. Did this fix yours?

      @@mikehess7687 yep., it was time, and Costco had a sale. The repair/maintenance tips in this video are solid, but the new models are more thermal efficient, proper startup/shutdown procedure, temperature regulate better, wifi app enabled, different cooking modes.... it was time.

      @@edwardgiver I agree. I had just told my wife it was time and let’s go look at them. My cheapness was getting the best of me. Thanks for the info and it sounds like you are happy with yours and was the best move.

    Put some anti-seize on that hot rod screw and those wing nuts in case you need to remove them again . Thanks for the tip .

    I still don't understand what does pulling the heat rod out a little more inside the smoke canister cause it to over heat and what does it change when doing so?

    Sorry but Traegers have too many issues. In your burn in video of this grill you mentioned about having to mod your old one to get higher temps and now this issue with this new one. As much as you paid for this Traeger you should have ZERO issues. Do yourself a favor and sell sell this Traeger and get RecTec pellet grill. I have had my Rectec for 3 years and it has had ZERO issues! Plus it has stainless internals, a 6 year warranty!, and if you do have any issues the OWNER Ray Carnes gives you his personal cell number to call him at. RecTec's customer service is amazing. I have read where a guys dog ate the wiring harness so he called them and they sent him a new one free of charge not even a charge for shipping!

      @@KyleDeets no worries, you did, and I hope that you don't have any more issues with it but if you do just remember RecTec.

      I have have a Traeger and have zero issues. My three friends have them also with zero issues. When it comes to numbers, there are 147k members on the Traeger fan page. That’s more 300% more than Rectecs. It’s more than any one brand of pellet smoker. My point is that you will here more good and bad things with that large of a group. Now here is where I would agree with you. If I was going to spend $1k on a grill, I would get a Rectec. I spent $699 for my Pro 575 when it was on sale. The only grill that the problems are prevalent at is that Smokefire.

    You're supposed to leave the door open until the flame starts also.. could be one reason its taking so long

      No, the manual specifically states to leave the door closed on these newer models

    Does this is the same as having too much white smokes?

    • @KyleDeets
      @KyleDeets  3 года назад

      No, if the hot rod does not work, you won’t see any smoke. If you get smoke but the grill doesn’t start, check your draft fan.
