I had just gotten off the phone with Mr. Williams, and he really knows everything there is to know about these injection pumps. He spend about an hour talking me through what was potentially wrong on my 7.3idi pump and explained it in a simple way for me to understand. Such a nice guy, and thanks again sir for taking the time help me with my truck!👍

Most of the issues with IDIs is the lift pump is slowly dying. Get rid of the stock lift pump. Mount an electric on under the truck, & that helps a lot w priming/bleeding air.
The 2nd is the fuel filter housing that comes on 87-94 7.3s w the fuel heater.
Get rid of it, & replace with a 6.9 filter housing. Pure Diesel Power makes a unit that replaces it, & gets rid of a ton of issues.
The 3rd is the fuel lines on the whole truck need to be replaced. Mainly the hard lines to the IP.
The 4th is the glow plug controller is something they will kill ur glow plugs. Get a button in the cab for that cuz u don’t need em all the time.
The 5th could be that the injection pump is worn enough that it’s out of time causing a hard start.
The 6th is that the line coming off of the stock filter housing 87-94 the return from the injectors will bleed fuel flow, & leak air. Plus the fuel from the injectors is bypassing the filter, so if a tiny spec of dirt gets into the caps when ur doin ur kit it’ll mess it up.

I have a 1992 7.3 idi diesel E350, I just changed glow plugs and made it manual switch. It just starts fine -10 -15 Celsius but after I run around even the engine is warm after couple of hours it's not starting sometimes, even with Ether sprey though. After giving a boost a minute it starts. Should it be injection pump related? Thanks in advance.

What if: the engine starts and runs but, it has a definite miss and when you loosen the fuel nut on the injector line, no fuel comes out of two of eight injectors? And it doesn't smoke much idling but it smokes a lot under power?

When checking the "cold start" noid---- i have the noid out of the cover testing the smaller, cold state noid with allagator clips from the + and - of the battery, The "needle" that presses the glass check ball, does nothing. does this mean the solenoid is bad ? or bc is variable, am i testing it wrong ?

    • @dieselcare
      @dieselcare  2 года назад

Applying 12V at that terminal should activate the solenoid - if it does not move with 12V applied to it, then the solenoid is bad. If you have additional questions, give us a call at 1-800-961-9290.

I need to find a injection pump for my 1990 7.3idi I can only get 3 out of the 8 to bleed iv had people say the pump is bad but not sure

    • @michaelbenoit248

Before replacing ur pump get a proper electric lift pump from the tank to the IP. The lift pump is the main failure on these trucks people overlook.
The 2nd is that there is a ton of air in the system. Air locked-Do not lob ether at it. If there’s NO fuel IT WILL NOT FIRE!
The 3rd is a bad fuel filter.
Electric fuel system fixes a bunch of issues cuz it helps keep the fuel system primed even if there’s air in it.
Once it’s running it’ll bleed the rest out of u don’t let it die. Once it dies w an air bubble just call a tow truck, & get it towed home. An air locked 7.3 is a PITA.

I just did a tool cat with filter knocked off under side it so much air I ended up using a pump from sprayer I use the on asphalt so took put clean fuel in it shove it in line where prime bulb acting wonky I think the wonky ness was air travel back up then pushing it back down with line apart air bleed back and kept forcing fuel down it 6 time and 3 huffs either and she came alive was on back side of pond we used 4 wheel tractor and 2 skid steers and. 2 dually to drag it out the wet lands was epic tow train every time tractor spun I felt like some hit brakes in front and everyone else got sucked in line

Should do one on the junk electronic ds4831 5521 always the pmd my butt ive had 13 pumps from Pensacola diesel and a few brand new ones over the years stanadyne discontinued them ! not a single one would put pressurized fuel to the injector ! They all have zero pressure this last one they sent me has zero fuel going to injector and I put a junkyard pump on and it fired right up ! It ran a little bit then started idling up and down up n down so I shut it off now no fuel to injectors with that pump ! I'm big big big money into this truck chevy should have never been let off the hook with these trucks ! They should have been forced to give all electronic controlled 6.5s a new duramax or buy them back ! cause what we now have is a bunch of brand new diesel trucks with motors that wouldnt run past 100k miles ! Meanwhile the same cash would have bought me a cummings of the era that would go 700k miles like it was a joke ! I'm going to put a cummings into it if the next pump does the same thing cause it is a brand new truck just the detroit diese is a piece of crap ! With what I've invested in pumps I could have bought a cummings and installed it ! Chevy shouldnt even dare show its face in public now I know why corporate refuses to be contacted and all letters are returned to sender and phone calls are put on hold and then they hang up on you ! This is how a corrupt crooked racketeering organization operates ! Then the government rewards them with a billion dollar bail out !

Whoa whoa whoa.. don’t you go crap talking detroit because your tampax won’t run right.. your fault for trusting the bowtie in the first place lol. I have a 70 year old detroit that runs like a top, even after sitting for 22 years she just kicked right off and snapped to idle like a champ.
