I love it. This is a very Coldplay sounding song. I love to see that Jin and Coldplay wrote it together. I am a huge Jin/BTS Coldplay fan. I think working with them brings out a quality in his voice like no one else. His gorgeous range is really shining on this. Also Jin is just really coming into his own as a singer.

Ngl, this might be one of my favourite solo debuts and song of the year. Though it strays far from the typical “k-pop” sound, it's still a great song i see myself listening to on repeat for a while.

I feel like he is depicting his whole journey being the eldest. And that helping mature the other members of BTS and ARMY, is now his family. Since he helped plant the seed for everyone in this journey and that he isn't giving up, even when he is gone.
I guess the story of this MV is that he is from the outer world who landed on Earth due to a broken spaceship. He was living on Earth waiting for his spaceship to be fixed and get picked up. In the meantime, he creates valuable relationship with the little girl (ARMY). When his people finally came to get him on earth, he runs and bicycles to the spaceship. Then, he realizes at the end, he wants to stay on Earth to be with his Army.💜 Such a beautiful masterpiece.
Such a beautiful song, he sounded amazing…this made me tear up, makes me think this song is dedicated to ARMY and his 6 members of BTS…they mean everything to him “when he is with them, there is no one else”. We will miss you Jim, but it’s not a goodbye, it’s see you soon💜💜💜
I personally loved the song. The thing I've always loved about BTS is that their music can't be boxed into a certain label or sound. It's just BTS music, BTS is the genre.

As a ARMY, I cried a lot when I hear this song for the first time. That girl is represent us, ARMY. And you get it right. He smile bc of the girl, his home and me as a ARMY feel the same way for him. Jin and every BTS members is my forever home. And THANK YOU Chris Martin (Coldplay) This is the best gift for both Jin and ARMY. Thank you.

I love Jin. He is multi talented. I like coldplay and you can here their influence in this song, but hearing Jin voice in it is just wonderful. This mv also showcase his acting talent. This may be something new for them not sounding much of a kpop, but he pull it beautifully only shows how versatile he is
Jin sounds POP here. And he is amazing. The emotions he conveys in his face is on spot.
I think Jin is an alien. Because he walks away from space craft in the beginning. His straight face without any emotion shows how he is out of place from earthlings. That beam of light is some signal that will make the craft work again. While infront of the craft, through all those flashbacks, he realizes home is here. So he turns back and we can finally see a smile on his face.

Seriously though, The Astronaut is a beautiful song and I can’t picture anyone else singing it besides Jin, his voice just fits perfectly, I can’t even describe it.
He is an alien or an astronaut ( idk basically) and he by mistakely landed on earth and as u can see he always has a straight face when he is alone but he is happy when he is with that little girl ( basically army and his members ) so he wants to go back to his planet and there is a clip where a news is shown about the mysterious light so he gives that girl his helmet ( that means strength ,faith to army and his members ) and then he goes to that place where there is a spaceship but he returns back from that place cz he understood that he found his family his happiness in the earth and he doesn't want to leave that girl ( army and his members ) and his family and at the last u can see that smile when he is going back again .
Basically he wants to tells us that he will never leave us and his member and he is saying keep strength and don't worry 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 he is really precious

Honesty, I LOVE this song!! The hook, the lyrics in general are soo good and his voice is just perfection! It was a beautiful dedication before he begins his next adventure. I can see this song sung to our kids, played in weddings etc. Its so good!

Very perceptive, Bris! To me it kind of represented his journey to where he is now. As an alien/astronaut he accidentally landed on earth the same way he was accidentally/by chance discovered on the street. The little girl represents army who taught him what love was and encouraged him to become the person he is... him teaching her to ride a bike was his way of expressing that he gives to army yet army gives to him which was done by the little girl showing him the basics in life like smiling and having fun by being carefree and running through a sprinkler… To me it all represented the give-and-take relationship he has with army. To me, Jin trying to get back to his spaceship, then him sitting on the ground staring at the spaceship, it was as if it represented the time he may have debated ending or stopping the music career that we know BTS went through. Him walking away from the spaceship was his way of showing his decision to stick with the little girl/Army because that is where he found his true happiness… Becoming family with army! Anyway that was my interpretation… I absolutely love Coldplay and the fact that Jin did this collab with them just warms my heart. I can tell this is a wonderful combination of both of their sounds and Jin’s voice goes so well with the group. BTW, in case you missed it, the news reporter on the TV was actually Chris Martin from Coldplay!
It’s interesting because they all have different sounds when it comes to solo work and this particular sound for jin I definitely love. I think it’s to the point where anything the 7 of them do I’ll love. Shit let’s listen to kgospel 😭😭😭

I love that we got to hear this tone from him, he usually has to go higher when he's with BTS and he does it wonderfully - like people sleep on how technically good he is - but I do miss this tone that we only get in a few songs when he's with the group. The hook is beautiful, the video matches the song with the feel and the sort of orangey light.

I love this song. You can definitely tell Coldplay is behind the music. Jin and Chris’ harmonies are angelic but I didn’t expect anything less. You hit the nail on the head with the concept for the video. It took me a second watch to get it 😅 I just miss the guys. So far I love all the new things they have put out and look forward to more 💜

Honestly I adore this song, it has such a special feelings even with the simplicity of the lyrics. Jin is my ultimate bias and Coldplay I grew up listening to and have loved every album they released…and both BTS and Coldplay have helped me a lot. So the two creating this song hits a different chord of love for me. This is also my favorite style of music and just everything from the MV being so cinematically beautiful to Jin’s voice with Chris Martin’s. I love it. Part of me feels like I lived that dream of meeting a favorite artists with Coldplay writing this song for Jin. I’m excited to see the live performance tonight 💜🌙🌎🌕👩🚀

Bts as OT7 and as individuals r very versatile. They r gr8 at whatever music genre they choose. I dont miss the kpop sounds...they have made many of those and i believe they will make more in future too if they want 2. All i know is whatever music they put out r all amazing music. Some r more my type some less but i enjoy all and dont miss any bcoz its all there available for us to consume

I love this song. I love that each member is progressively moving into other genres. I do want to see them progress into other types of sounds. I don't want them to be continuously (and wrongly in my opinion) pigeon holed into "k-pop" sounds. BTS and each member is so much more than just k-pop. They and their music and lyrics are so above the k-pop limit (and probably even most mainstream music) in my opinion and should be making more music that is equal to their world-wide appeal.
I loved this song so much! Jin's vocals were amazing and so beautiful! I love BTS because they don't box themselves and want to produce quality music whatever genre or sound. They are real artists who want to grow and change with growth. It's wonderful.
Jin acted this out really well - a sad kind of happy alien wherever he is, but one who smiles when with Army. It sums up the story of his/BTS’s life. Ultimately they choose Army as family to come home to.
Jin’s angelic voice, what can we say? Coupled with that innocent look pasted all throughout the MV was the perfect combination.
Do I miss BTS’s “k” sound? Very much. Thankfully they did Run BTS. It was reminiscent of their sound that we grew up with. But I can’t criticise them for trying out new stuff and genres either together or as soloists. I guess they need to go through it to develop even further as fine artists.

The MV was signed in the United States, to be exact in Los Angeles, if I'm not mistaken Seokjin was about 1 month and a half ago.
I personally love this song. Whether it doesn't sound K-pop or whatever that is, for me this is a great song from Jin for this year. A bittersweet song before he leaves for doing his duty as a Korean man.

Honestly, I missed the old BTS songs. It screamed BTS. But Chapter 2 is an eye opener. The boys are growing up, their songs are maturing, so as a fan, I am maturing too. I will support BTS forever.
It is a beautiful song and MV. It reminds me of a 90's pop song which are masterpieces. Like and old movie but without the old spectrum, like going back to the moments and places that makes us happy without realizing it. I can feel the Coldplay vibe with the song but at the same time our Seokjin added his own flavor. I watched the mv too many times that maybe my phone is hating me now😅. Everytime I watch it, felt like something tugging on my heartstrings. He's saying goodbye but reassuring he'll come back. This is exactly how I perceived it. He doesn’t look like what we would think an alien would but he’s definitely playing the part well. I loved when he looked into the astronauts mask and turned his head slightly. I said “alien?”. Then lonely in his room doing his happiness is crossword. He smiles for the first time interacting with the little girl and then smiles again. When he realizes the ship is leaving he felt he had to go, although his emotions of what he’d built on Earth got the better of him. I loved the one eye part. He rushes back to his life and the happiness he’s come to know with us all. I imagine that’s his family, his BTS family and US, his adoring ARMY. I think he’s letting us know he loves us and we’ll see each other soon and that’s a forever fact. It’s definitely set in the US I think and Coldplay is written all over it. So many things to try and pay attention to. I finally realized the news reporter is Chris with hair after watching 3 or 4 times. Most important are Jins’ vocals!! Aren’t they gorgeous? I'm always confused by people who treat kpop as a genre, especially when a lot of stuff is produced by western producers to begin with, just sung (mostly, but that's also changing lately) in Korean. It's an industry, it goes based on trends, doesn't have one defined genre. The only real characteristic I'd say many kpop songs have in common, and it's not a flattering one, is the patching up together different segments of songs into one, so there's a lack of cohesion, and maybe the use of a certain type of EDM out of its many subgenres. But imho these are not enough to define a genre, they're more trends in the industry, and they're trends BTS have never followed. They've always done their thing, exploring various music genres, and even when experimenting with genre mixing, they made sure to make them flow together flawlessly. So when I hear ppl say that they strayed away from kpop sound wise, it doesn't really make sense with the journey of their sound vs industry trends to begin with.
You perhaps want them to lean into the type of EDM/pop that many kpop groups seem to prefer, but BTS has never been like that in the first place.
The industry is more about visuals to begin with, and there's a formula to them that BTS sometimes followed, sometimes not really, and in later years, they've definitely strayed away from that so ig that's what kpop stans subconsciously look for in their music. Which doesn't make sense either, but that's the so-called kpop brand everyone's talking about.
BTS have done a ton of genres and the western industry still labeled them kpop, that's because it's kpop is an industry and the label is more of a box. For BTS, it's a limiting one, it's used to other them, for lesser known acts, it's perhaps something which helps their career advance on the premise of the "kpop family" idea.
