to be fair Janelle's kids were the favorites before robyn. they made a whole episode about how he was more connected with the boys (janelle) and didn't know shit about the girls (christine)
I think she was actually more detached than that even. The boys were favoured by Kody. Janelle and Kody were the primary bread winners for the home. Janelle kept them afloat. Christine, Logan and Maddie raised her kids. Janelle was never afraid to leave and Kody knew it. She’d done it before but he needed her financially. Going public cost them all of that. Janelle wasn’t financially his equal after they went to Vegas
I haven't heard anyone talk about this, but I believe that Janelle is also a basement wife. I think, to emotionally protect herself, she created this narrative that she doesn't require much from Kody and she's low maintenance. But Kody treats her like shit. She just allowed him to do it and pretends it doesn't wear away at her sense of self, whereas Christine continually expressed her needs even if it meant being manipulated and blamed by Kody.

It's all about protecting their image, the show and most importantly the money. If they really cared about doing the right thing for themselves and their kids , they would get off the show. We won't really hear the truth until the show is long over and probably won't get anything real out of these people then.
I wonder if, since Christine’s court case says she can’t disparage Kody, Janelle is fixing to sue him too and she doesn’t want to cause herself a problem. The OG3 has been doing it for 19 seasons. In S18 and S19, they finally said a few things; but they are still way too gracious for my liking. 😡 They are always so gracious about Robyn. Why have they not come out and said: “Why tf does Robyn have more house, CP lots, and money, when she contributed the least and joined the family with debt 16 years after the OG3??” Make it make sense. 😡
It makes sense because some people still believe man has free will and does NOT have to do what anybody else wants them to but only what they choose for themselves! Some people decide if you wrong me I will wrong you back while others will treat people the way they WANT to be treated and not as they actually are. To be fair, remember that Maddie was 15 almost 16 when they moved to Vegas, and that was the era of Robyn entering the picture. They have all side that before Vegas, in the Lehi house, Kody was there for the kids. I think that's what Janelle is talking about.
I think, in order to acknowledge how sub-par Kody actually was as a parent (even when she claims he was wonderful.) she would have to come to terms with her own role in consistently covering for him. She doesn’t seem to grasp that what she’s describing as him being a “present father” is far closer to the dynamic of a fun uncle or brother that babysits once in a while. To acknowledge all of his issues is to acknowledge her own role in enabling him. (And how much of Kody’s responsibilities ended up falling on Logan, in complete honesty. They switched roles, and Logan had no choice in the matter.) Edit: Her saying- “I just wasn’t tracking it,” is not a flex, or an explanation. It’s a feeble excuse. Her own son explained it best: People develop different coping mechanisms to keep themselves afloat. It doesn’t make her a horrible person, but god almighty girl, do some self reflection.

It really feels like Janelle has amnesia for how much, other people had to step in when she was working because Kody wasn't there. But I do believe he was more engaged with the boys than the girls, which means most of Janelles kids did have Kody's attention but still not to the degree that Robyn's kids did. Even Christine mentioned that Janelles boys had a harder time with Robyn taking up so much of Kody's time than her girls did because, as Christine said, her girls didn't see much of Kody anyway.
After listening to Janelle on podcasts I’ve lost all respect for her. She had Logan parenting his siblings and making breakfast getting them ready for school but Robyn needed a nanny?
They left Lehi and it tore Hunter up. She then had her kids stable in Las Vegas and Kody & Robyn wanted the move to Flagstaff. Gabe begged to stay for his senior year in Las Vegas where he was excelling and had opportunity. She did not advocate for her children. Instead, she decided to follow Kody's hair-brained idea where her kids were destabilized and neglected...and she gave Kody & Robyn more money to buy the McMansion. Janelle has her positive attributes, but her children had to be independent at a very young age. Logan and Hunter really took up the slack for a lack of Kody in the household. The entire situation obviously gravely affected Garrison. I hope Gabe and Savanah do okay, but no matter how great they are as kids, they just don't get his attention and affection. Her angle here must be to preserve some relationship until financial relations are settled, or she is just nuts.
And these latest actions of Janelle’s proves she still is putting Grody ahead of her children. 😮 Christine too for that matter with Truly, Yzabell and Paedon (especially Truly😳) having legit concerns (well, everyone has concerns with the speed and the “we don’t give two 💩’s what the kids think” attitude. I understand why Janelle is being undeservedly kind to Kody. Garrison was HER son. I can confidently say that Kody played a part in his passing. Janelle is likely beating herself up for not leaving sooner and extending the distress of Kody’s abandonment. So she has to tell herself he’s not that bad. I think we’re all expecting too much from Janelle. This is a woman who has repeatedly said she would enter into another polygamous relationship. She very clearly does not see the harm it did to her children growing up. So when she’s talking on these podcasts about what a good father he was I believe she genuinely thinks that. Also you have to remember most of her kids were little when they had one home and he did see them much more than when they moved. I agree with the person who said, in order for Janelle to be truly honest she’d have to reflect on her own role in the complacency of allowing him to be the type of father he was and the role that polygamy played in that, I just don’t think she’s anywhere close to that yet.
I think Janelles been pretty consistent that Kody was a good father when the kids were young. Even Christine has mentioned how Kody spent more time with the boys. Its been more recently as they've gotten older that hes treating them horribly. I also understand that Janelle is trying to get cooperation from Kody regarding distribution of assetts. She knows that it will be a lot more difficult to deal with him if theyre adversarial. If youve ever had to try and get something from a narcissist, you know that stroking their ego a bit can go a long way.
Narcissist don’t respond well to their adult children disagreeing with them or having their own opinions. I have observed that when kids are young and view their parent as a hero and worship them then everything is cool. The minute they start using their own voices and expressing themselves in a way that is contrary to the parent, the parent dis cards them.

I think there’s been a shift that hasn’t been revealed yet. In earlier interview interviews, although not as outspoken as Christine, Janelle did throw a shade at Kody. In my opinion, it has to do with the coyote pass property. I know it appears that it hasn’t been sold yet, but I think that somewhere there was a payout. Meri has money to redo the carriage house, Janelle has money to buy Taeda Farms and Kody and Robyn have money to buy a new McMansion. I think part of the agreement between Kody and Janelle was to not 💩 him in public.
The only reason I would believe that Janelle is sticking up for these two, KR, is that she is either taking him to court or she received $$ for her part. Janelle can be civil and still be honest! I have been hearing a lot talking about these interviews but never seen & how bazaar they are. Wow now I see what they’re talking about.. WTF?! She’s going back? Or is Kody telling her “you better talk nice about me or else” & he’s scared her into submission as alway? All this talk of “taking what is yours to Meri or herself”, but this show is what 2yrs behind & obviously they both didn’t do crap or there would have been court papers to show it. To me, Janelle seems to be saying what she's always said. She went in with the assumption that Kody was only supposed to be there 25-33% of the time. If she had honestly thought him splitting his time would hurt her kids, then she wouldn't have chosen polygamy. When she says he was involved, she's only judging him on the time he was there because it was assumed from the beginning that he wouldn't be there very much. And Kody thrives on being an entertainer and the center of attention so he probably did engage with the kids, especially the boys, because it was fun for him. The boys were his favorite. Also, I don't think Janelle is defending Robyn. The interviewer asked why Robyn needed a nanny, and Janelle said she didn't know, and she, herself, had worked with Christine. When the interviewer made it a point to say Robyn didn't work, Janelle pointed out that the show is actually work so it wasn't fair to say all her time was free.
My hypothesis is that she has signed a non-disclosure agreement in order to get anything out of coyote pass. Same thing that probably happened to Gwen and Payton. Notice how those 2 stopped talking truth about Kody and the show... Unfortunately, she is at a disadvantage when it comes to any rights in regards to coyote pass. He probably leveraged that knowledge as a way to stop her speaking her truth about him and Robin. Just my hypothesis at this point since it seems like a complete reverse of the past year. Christine is in scorched Earth mode. Janelle has always been more level headed. I don’t think she’s trying to save Cody and Robyn’s images. I think she’s being careful not to get wrapped up in any possible litigation that Cody and Robyn might bring. She’s just trying to protect herself, her business and her kids.

I wanted to be quick to respond here because Janelle seems like she has STOCKHOLM SYNDROME! And no one seems to be mentioning this! She puts up with the worst abuse and keeps going back for more and defends him in interviews, she is brainwashed and really does seem to have this syndrome for real.
I've also often wondered about her own childhood, in particular the relationship with her own father. Remember, her mom "married" Kody's dad, but no mention, that I can recall, about Janelle's father. I feel like there might be something in her childhood that could shed light on her current and past relationship with Kody. She is a master at avoidance.
I can explain it to you. I was with a guy like that for years, and I still speak fondly of him and our time together. Janelle always had a good relationship with Kody... they got along well and enjoyed each other's conversation. It wasn't until he turned on her kids that she hit her limit. And in the past, she'd hit her limit a few times and left him, but she believes in the tenets of the religion and she went back. I don't think she's wrong to remember the good times. She's the first one to say he's different now, but then again so is she. She doesn't really like who he has become but she likes who he (and they) used to be
Janelle doesn't know what she doesn't know. She had a failed first marriage and then a "business partnership" as a second marriage. Kody treated her like his accountant with benefits, but it was not the kind of marriage where two people are completely in love. At least not from what I saw over fourteen years.
The thing is, if Janelle wants to find forgiveness towards Kody, which I find hard to understand how, but if she did okay, but to rewrite history is another. Kody hasn't been present in the OG13 kids lives since Robyn came nearly. It's so strange how she is back peddling so hard. IMO I think that Janelle still loves Kody. If it wasn’t for her children, she would still be with him. There wasn’t a problem until her kids wouldn’t accept the way Kody was treating their mom and them. This caused Janelle to have to choose between her children and Kody. She chose correctly her children, but she still loves him. In spite of all that he’s done to her, the way he’s neglected her and the way that he and Robyn took advantage of her for her money. Only someone who has the blinders of love on their eyes would allow all that.
I think Janelle has always been consistent with her words. She’s only said he’s been a bad parent to the children once they became adults. She doesn’t hate him and that’s ok… she’s also very civil. Well, you also have to remember Kody talks about in the first 15 seasons how he got along with the boys more and bonded with them. Janelle had mostly boys so he bonded more with them and was more present. Also, Hunter and Gabe were his wrestling champs. That was his sport and he could use them too look good. Madison was in the mix of the orders when he could be more around and she could hang with the boys. Thus making it easy on Kody. That's why I think Janelle is saying this compared to Christine.
You know I think we have to keep in mind that Garrison was still alive while all of these scenes were filmed. Right now she is in a place where she has just lost a child and she could be on antidepressant or anti anxiety medication… we don’t know. I find that most people when put on a great deal of stress they revert back to their old behaviors. I don’t know, but she sounded very defeated.
I don't think she would, unless Kody made some major adjustments in his relationship to Robyn (put Robyn and Janelle on an alternating-days, equal time rotation, like in the early days, and accept her independent life-style. That said. Kody is not likely to reconcile with Janelle's kids because Kody is unwilling to humble himself to others, put others' needs before his own, show a genuine interest in their lives, give unconditional love (whether the kids earn it or not), and drop the words "betrayal" and "loyalty" from his vocabulary. Ain't gonna happen.

Wow, I have some different thoughts on this for sure. 😅 I don’t see Janelle as being so secure in herself in these instances. I see someone who has a very low self-esteem when it comes to romance. She’s willing to just go aloof and not care that she’s not in a real marriage. That says a ton. And as far as willing to let her kids go with a sliver of a dad, that came with the territory of their religion. Sure, she shouldn’t have chosen it in the grand scheme of things, but as it stood, the kids all understood their portions of Kody. Robyn’s never did, especially coming from a monogamous home beforehand. I get what Janelle was saying in regards to Robyn “working.” It’s nothing we didn’t already know. Yes, her only job was the show.
Mmm 🤔 they are all paid actors (not good ones) but they are all there for a check. Just like Kody none of them want to be poor. They are going to beef the show up with whatever the audience wants to hear.
Maybe Janelle is backpedaling because she spoke to a lawyer and they told her she is SOL to recoup her money from the mansion and other assets. The only way for her to get her money is to butter Kody up. OR Maybe Kody told her that the only way he’d cooperate with her is if she stopped slamming his name and help fix his reputation. Just speculating here, but it is ticking me off that Janelle is contradicting herself.
That’s what she’s always said. I don’t see a contradiction. They split up b/c during Covid, he became toxic to his kids. He tried to blame her for it. He attacked them for not respecting his rules. Before that, she didn’t have a problem.
At least Janelle said, “Christine, Meri and I worked it out.” Not just her and Christine, because Meri watched the kids almost every day for a few hours too.
I think Janelle’s affect could be from learnt behaviour as a child. She’s clearly avoidant and ultra self sufficient. She had a stepfather who was not interested in her so she learned to only rely on herself. She was perfect low maintenance for Kody but let’s be clear this personality type is a trauma response.
I had to mute her. I heard it and got so angry yesterday I nearly stroked out. Exaggerated but it did cross my my mind. I’m right there with you on this. I’m afraid there ain’t gonna be no joy- Kody and Robyn are going to get away with everything.
Janelle is still wanting those six pack abs. She would take Kody back in a second if he was even a little bit nice to her kids. Every time she talks about Kody, it’s with the biggest smile ever. I believe this is why she won’t say the word divorce. She is just waiting for either Kody to be nice to the kids or the kids tell her it’s ok anyway.
Its obvious that Janelle still has a huge attraction to Kody. I dont know why but she does. I think Kodys her achilles heal, not necessarily her kids. Wouldnt be surprised if theyre hooking up here and there still. I also think Janelles confidence and independnce anf being "logical" is kinda of a facade. Think deep down shes insecure and maybe she feels Kody is the best she can do. And I think Kody knows this and uses it to manipulate her.
Her recent interview makes me question if she’s really done with him. She was so dismissive of all the unfair treatment of her and her kids. Girl, just get back with him at this point. If you are saying you didn’t mind all the 💩 going on then why did you leave?🤦🏽♀️

Social media is really twisting their panties in a huge bunch over Janelle's perceived lack of animosity. We forget that as much as we've all loved to watch and gossip about the unwinding over the last few years, this has been Janelle's actual life. She's lived through it. Close up. I think she has simply decided to let go and live on. She's allowing herself the freedom and happiness to not carry anger, bitterness and resentment forward and I commend her for that. Kody, at one point, met her needs and she had happier moments with him. Why look back and speculate that the majority of your life was misery? Lastly, remember that for a long time everyone lived together in a giant house (basement Christine?!), so Kody did live with his kids under the same roof and they saw him everyday, so perhaps he was a decent father back then. After the kids grew older and Robyn entered the picture, well, we all saw what happened. Anywho, TLC, please drop Kody and Robyn, completely, from the show. We don't like them. They are not interesting. We don't want to watch them. Rock on, Janelle!
I tend to agree with this. I think when she looks back and reflects she’s thinking & speaking about the times they lived in one home (pre-Robyn) and Vegas. If you recall both her and Kody have stated they had a great time in their relationship in Vegas. To me there is a clear line of delineation and that was when talks of moving to flagstaff started. I can see her thinking it was great in Utah, more independence and still good in Vegas- as good as to be expected when blending families and bringing in a new wife, but then flagstaff and Covid was where the real issues set in. They were together for over 30 years- it’s easy to believe that when she speaks favorably about how Kody was in the past - that she’s speaking of Vegas/Utah times

Remember Janelle made the majority of the income before the show and before Robin. She owned the trailer that Meri and Kody moved into. She bought the Lehigh house with funds she inherited. She had the largest and most stable income, Kody, Meri and Christine not much. There was barely enough $ for food much less a nanny then. When Robin brought the bad debts to the family Janelle cashed in her 401K to pay. Then Robin and Kody used her Vegas proceeds to buy the ugly McMansion and Janelles (and others) share of show $ for the trinket horde and Coyote Pass. She has nothing to show for years of working and some of those years they made bank from the show. I even think her kids had most of their college expenses through military and scholarships. She spent very little.
I think the difference between Janelle and Meri and Christine is that Christine no longer believes in the AUB and polygamy. Both J and M still play down the obvious disparity and abusive elements of living that lifestyle. Hopefully when they decompress from the indoctrination their opinions will change. Meri seems to be progressing but Janelle is definitely still so passive and lacking in self esteem. I know she claims to be so independent but her expectations for herself and her children are so low. Also she is grieving and that is exhausting and she probably doesn’t have the energy or appetite to fight things out with Robem and Kody.
Do you think maybe she’s reflecting on the time before Robyn joined the family to say that he was an engaged father way back then .. and also the fact that there’s undivided monies that she wants and now knows she probably can’t talk shit about him and get that money back. Says she hast to play nice? Also potentially if there are any pending lawsuits that she can’t say anything to disparage him publicly. They can try to rewrite history all they want, I’ve watched the show since the very beginning and I saw what was happening. Kody is not what I would consider an engaged father. He’s a deadbeat.
I am so frustrated with Janelle. I think she was and still is lying to herself and the camera when she says K was a wonderful and present dad. She left K’s a$$ for months or years at a time while she had little kids, and I assume she kept the kids with her. I wasn’t leaving my kids” dad for even a few days, let alone months. Heck, she even bought a house during one of those separations. Those are the actions of a woman with serious regrets. (And yes, I realize that it was claimed that her issue was with Meri, not K during one of the separations. But if K was such a great father they both would’ve been motivated to find a solution so that J could return to the family home sooner. Seriously, her kids would’ve been distraught being separated from a “present” dad.)

I haven't heard anyone talk about this, but I believe that Janelle is also a basement wife. I think, to emotionally protect herself, she created this narrative that she doesn't require much from Kody and she's low maintenance. But Kody treats her like shit. She just allowed him to do it and pretends it doesn't wear away at her sense of self, whereas Christine continually expressed her needs even if it meant being manipulated and blamed by Kody.

To be fair, remember that Maddie was 15 almost 16 when they moved to Vegas, and that was the era of Robyn entering the picture. They have all side that before Vegas, in the Lehi house, Kody was there for the kids. I think that's what Janelle is talking about.
I think, in order to acknowledge how sub-par Kody actually was as a parent (even when she claims he was wonderful.) she would have to come to terms with her own role in consistently covering for him. She doesn’t seem to grasp that what she’s describing as him being a “present father” is far closer to the dynamic of a fun uncle or brother that babysits once in a while. To acknowledge all of his issues is to acknowledge her own role in enabling him. (And how much of Kody’s responsibilities ended up falling on Logan, in complete honesty. They switched roles, and Logan had no choice in the matter.)
Edit: Her saying- “I just wasn’t tracking it,” is not a flex, or an explanation. It’s a feeble excuse. Her own son explained it best: People develop different coping mechanisms to keep themselves afloat. It doesn’t make her a horrible person, but god almighty girl, do some self reflection.

At the end of the day, she chose to convert to this lifestyle with obvious inequities- primarily impacting the children. (And the wives, of course, but since Janelle claims not to care about that element, AT LEAST own up to the impact on the kids.) That’s really the crux of the fans issues with J. Like- Okay fine, you got exactly what you needed from your relationship with Kody. But that doesn’t mean the kids did, and you’re making those issues mutually exclusive. Part of life is reflecting on the things we might have perceived WRONG in the past; take a page from Gabe’s book and GROW.

It really feels like Janelle has amnesia for how much, other people had to step in when she was working because Kody wasn't there. But I do believe he was more engaged with the boys than the girls, which means most of Janelles kids did have Kody's attention but still not to the degree that Robyn's kids did. Even Christine mentioned that Janelles boys had a harder time with Robyn taking up so much of Kody's time than her girls did because, as Christine said, her girls didn't see much of Kody anyway.

After listening to Janelle on podcasts I’ve lost all respect for her. She had Logan parenting his siblings and making breakfast getting them ready for school but Robyn needed a nanny?

They left Lehi and it tore Hunter up. She then had her kids stable in Las Vegas and Kody & Robyn wanted the move to Flagstaff. Gabe begged to stay for his senior year in Las Vegas where he was excelling and had opportunity. She did not advocate for her children. Instead, she decided to follow Kody's hair-brained idea where her kids were destabilized and neglected...and she gave Kody & Robyn more money to buy the McMansion. Janelle has her positive attributes, but her children had to be independent at a very young age. Logan and Hunter really took up the slack for a lack of Kody in the household. The entire situation obviously gravely affected Garrison. I hope Gabe and Savanah do okay, but no matter how great they are as kids, they just don't get his attention and affection. Her angle here must be to preserve some relationship until financial relations are settled, or she is just nuts.

Robyn wants her place in the celestial kingdom. Kody wants to make Robyn happy. The AuB will not let Kody marry anyone else with his track record. The best that he can do is keep Janelle around on a back burner, and somehow schmooze Meri back into the flock. Janelle has never walked away completely. And she still believes in polygamy. I have thought for two years that she isn’t leaving him no matter what she says. She allowed Kody to run all over her kids, and still does. It wasn’t until the kids got upset that she opened her eyes, a little. She isn’t seeking a spiritual divorce which says it all to me. I think that what is tearing Kody up is that he promised Robyn a spiritual marriage and a place in the celestial kingdom and it appears that will not happen. I think that is the ONLY reason that Kody cares about whether the OG wives are alive or the fact that they left is because Robyn is so torn up over her place on her planet.

I think we’re all expecting too much from Janelle. This is a woman who has repeatedly said she would enter into another polygamous relationship. She very clearly does not see the harm it did to her children growing up. So when she’s talking on these podcasts about what a good father he was I believe she genuinely thinks that. Also you have to remember most of her kids were little when they had one home and he did see them much more than when they moved. I agree with the person who said, in order for Janelle to be truly honest she’d have to reflect on her own role in the complacency of allowing him to be the type of father he was and the role that polygamy played in that, I just don’t think she’s anywhere close to that yet.

I think Janelles been pretty consistent that Kody was a good father when the kids were young. Even Christine has mentioned how Kody spent more time with the boys. Its been more recently as they've gotten older that hes treating them horribly. I also understand that Janelle is trying to get cooperation from Kody regarding distribution of assetts. She knows that it will be a lot more difficult to deal with him if theyre adversarial. If youve ever had to try and get something from a narcissist, you know that stroking their ego a bit can go a long way.
Narcissist don’t respond well to their adult children disagreeing with them or having their own opinions. I have observed that when kids are young and view their parent as a hero and worship them then everything is cool. The minute they start using their own voices and expressing themselves in a way that is contrary to the parent, the parent dis cards them.
I recently visited my Mormon family. Dad was raised fundementalist. My parents have been divorced about 20 years and my mom STILL says, "Well your dad thinks ______."

I think Janelle hates feeling like she’s being framed as a victim and so anytime she felt like the interviewer framed her that way she got her dander up about it. I also don’t think she’s that self reflective.

I think there’s been a shift that hasn’t been revealed yet. In earlier interview interviews, although not as outspoken as Christine, Janelle did throw a shade at Kody. In my opinion, it has to do with the coyote pass property. I know it appears that it hasn’t been sold yet, but I think that somewhere there was a payout. Meri has money to redo the carriage house, Janelle has money to buy Taeda Farms and Kody and Robyn have money to buy a new McMansion. I think part of the agreement between Kody and Janelle was to not 💩 him in public.
The only reason I would believe that Janelle is sticking up for these two, KR, is that she is either taking him to court or she received $$ for her part.
Janelle can be civil and still be honest! Kody has not seen Savanah. Janelle needs to realize she is setting a bad example to Savanah. She can encourage a relationship, but she should not expect Savanah to be okay with crumbs. Do better, Janelle. Along with Christine, you are a fan favorite.

Christine and Janelle both have said that Kody was a engaged father when the kids were little, but not when the kids were teenagers + years old.
I agree with everything you said, but I'd imagine reconciling her divorce from Kody alongside losing Garrison has gotta be extremely hard. That lady doing the first interview was probably thinking “are we talking about the same show we seen & the show you filmed?”. I have been hearing a lot talking about these interviews but never seen & how bazaar they are. Wow now I see what they’re talking about.. WTF?! She’s going back? Or is Kody telling her “you better talk nice about me or else” & he’s scared her into submission as alway? All this talk of “taking what is yours to Meri or herself”, but this show is what 2yrs behind & obviously they both didn’t do crap or there would have been court papers to show it. I knew it was all a bluff for the show. Yes we want them to get what is theirs but they haven’t, what a waste of energy.
To me, Janelle seems to be saying what she's always said. She went in with the assumption that Kody was only supposed to be there 25-33% of the time. If she had honestly thought him splitting his time would hurt her kids, then she wouldn't have chosen polygamy. When she says he was involved, she's only judging him on the time he was there because it was assumed from the beginning that he wouldn't be there very much. And Kody thrives on being an entertainer and the center of attention so he probably did engage with the kids, especially the boys, because it was fun for him. The boys were his favorite.
Also, I don't think Janelle is defending Robyn. The interviewer asked why Robyn needed a nanny, and Janelle said she didn't know, and she, herself, had worked with Christine. When the interviewer made it a point to say Robyn didn't work, Janelle pointed out that the show is actually work so it wasn't fair to say all her time was free.
My hypothesis is that she has signed a non-disclosure agreement in order to get anything out of coyote pass. Same thing that probably happened to Gwen and Payton. Notice how those 2 stopped talking truth about Kody and the show... Unfortunately, she is at a disadvantage when it comes to any rights in regards to coyote pass. He probably leveraged that knowledge as a way to stop her speaking her truth about him and Robin. Just my hypothesis at this point since it seems like a complete reverse of the past year. Similar to how some of the kids have suddenly become silent...

Christine is in scorched Earth mode. Janelle has always been more level headed. I don’t think she’s trying to save Cody and Robyn’s images. I think she’s being careful not to get wrapped up in any possible litigation that Cody and Robyn might bring. She’s just trying to protect herself, her business and her kids.

I wanted to be quick to respond here because Janelle seems like she has STOCKHOLM SYNDROME! And no one seems to be mentioning this! She puts up with the worst abuse and keeps going back for more and defends him in interviews, she is brainwashed and really does seem to have this syndrome for real.
I've also often wondered about her own childhood, in particular the relationship with her own father. Remember, her mom "married" Kody's dad, but no mention, that I can recall, about Janelle's father. I feel like there might be something in her childhood that could shed light on her current and past relationship with Kody. She is a master at avoidance.

I can explain it to you. I was with a guy like that for years, and I still speak fondly of him and our time together. Janelle always had a good relationship with Kody... they got along well and enjoyed each other's conversation. It wasn't until he turned on her kids that she hit her limit. And in the past, she'd hit her limit a few times and left him, but she believes in the tenets of the religion and she went back. I don't think she's wrong to remember the good times. She's the first one to say he's different now, but then again so is she. She doesn't really like who he has become but she likes who he (and they) used to be
Janelle doesn't know what she doesn't know. She had a failed first marriage and then a "business partnership" as a second marriage. Kody treated her like his accountant with benefits, but it was not the kind of marriage where two people are completely in love. At least not from what I saw over fourteen years.

Kody hasn't been present in the OG13 kids lives since Robyn came nearly. It's so strange how she is back peddling so hard. It is almost insensitive to Garrison's memory, she is taking away from his truth along with her other kids. IMO I think that Janelle still loves Kody. If it wasn’t for her children, she would still be with him. There wasn’t a problem until her kids wouldn’t accept the way Kody was treating their mom and them. This caused Janelle to have to choose between her children and Kody. She chose correctly her children, but she still loves him. In spite of all that he’s done to her, the way he’s neglected her and the way that he and Robyn took advantage of her for her money. Only someone who has the blinders of love on their eyes would allow all that.
I think Janelle has always been consistent with her words. She’s only said he’s been a bad parent to the children once they became adults. She doesn’t hate him and that’s ok… she’s also very civil. Might seem like she’s flip flopping but hindsight is 20/20 so it’s a given that our opinions might change once our perspective broadens.
I think Janelle was referring to the kids younger years, pre- Sobyn. I’m not mad at her for this interview. She seems to be the peacekeeper and doesn’t like to cause unnecessary drama. She’s my favorite sister wife. And while I love Christine too, she’s a little immature.

Well, you also have to remember Kody talks about in the first 15 seasons how he got along with the boys more and bonded with them. Janelle had mostly boys so he bonded more with them and was more present. Also, Hunter and Gabe were his wrestling champs. That was his sport and he could use them too look good. Madison was in the mix of the orders when he could be more around and she could hang with the boys. Thus making it easy on Kody. That's why I think Janelle is saying this compared to Christine.
I think there might be legal issues going on. It's the only reason she wouldn't nail them to the wall.
You know I think we have to keep in mind that Garrison was still alive while all of these scenes were filmed. Right now she is in a place where she has just lost a child and she could be on antidepressant or anti anxiety medication… we don’t know. I find that most people when put on a great deal of stress they revert back to their old behaviors. I don’t know, but she sounded very defeated.
I think if Kody ever made amends with her kids, Janelle would go back.
I don't think she would, unless Kody made some major adjustments in his relationship to Robyn (put Robyn and Janelle on an alternating-days, equal time rotation, like in the early days, and accept her independent life-style. That said. Kody is not likely to reconcile with Janelle's kids because Kody is unwilling to humble himself to others, put others' needs before his own, show a genuine interest in their lives, give unconditional love (whether the kids earn it or not), and drop the words "betrayal" and "loyalty" from his vocabulary. Ain't gonna happen.

I don’t see Janelle as being so secure in herself in these instances. I see someone who has a very low self-esteem when it comes to romance. She’s willing to just go aloof and not care that she’s not in a real marriage. That says a ton.
And as far as willing to let her kids go with a sliver of a dad, that came with the territory of their religion. Sure, she shouldn’t have chosen it in the grand scheme of things, but as it stood, the kids all understood their portions of Kody. Robyn’s never did, especially coming from a monogamous home beforehand.

I think Janelle’s affect could be from learnt behaviour as a child. She’s clearly avoidant and ultra self sufficient. She had a stepfather who was not interested in her so she learned to only rely on herself. She was perfect low maintenance for Kody but let’s be clear this personality type is a trauma response.

Social media is really twisting their panties in a huge bunch over Janelle's perceived lack of animosity. We forget that as much as we've all loved to watch and gossip about the unwinding over the last few years, this has been Janelle's actual life. She's lived through it. Close up. I think she has simply decided to let go and live on. She's allowing herself the freedom and happiness to not carry anger, bitterness and resentment forward and I commend her for that. Kody, at one point, met her needs and she had happier moments with him. Why look back and speculate that the majority of your life was misery?
Lastly, remember that for a long time everyone lived together in a giant house (basement Christine?!), so Kody did live with his kids under the same roof and they saw him everyday, so perhaps he was a decent father back then. After the kids grew older and Robyn entered the picture, well, we all saw what happened. Anywho, TLC, please drop Kody and Robyn, completely, from the show. We don't like them. They are not interesting. We don't want to watch them. Rock on, Janelle!
I tend to agree with this. I think when she looks back and reflects she’s thinking & speaking about the times they lived in one home (pre-Robyn) and Vegas. If you recall both her and Kody have stated they had a great time in their relationship in Vegas. To me there is a clear line of delineation and that was when talks of moving to flagstaff started. I can see her thinking it was great in Utah, more independence and still good in Vegas- as good as to be expected when blending families and bringing in a new wife, but then flagstaff and Covid was where the real issues set in. They were together for over 30 years- it’s easy to believe that when she speaks favorably about how Kody was in the past - that she’s speaking of Vegas/Utah times

I think she has been threatened by Kody. She is walking the corporate line.
Remember Janelle made the majority of the income before the show and before Robin. She owned the trailer that Meri and Kody moved into. She bought the Lehigh house with funds she inherited. She had the largest and most stable income, Kody, Meri and Christine not much. There was barely enough $ for food much less a nanny then. When Robin brought the bad debts to the family Janelle cashed in her 401K to pay. Then Robin and Kody used her Vegas proceeds to buy the ugly McMansion and Janelles (and others) share of show $ for the trinket horde and Coyote Pass. She has nothing to show for years of working and some of those years they made bank from the show. I even think her kids had most of their college expenses through military and scholarships. She spent very little.
I think the difference between Janelle and Meri and Christine is that Christine no longer believes in the AUB and polygamy. Both J and M still play down the obvious disparity and abusive elements of living that lifestyle. Hopefully when they decompress from the indoctrination their opinions will change. Meri seems to be progressing but Janelle is definitely still so passive and lacking in self esteem. I know she claims to be so independent but her expectations for herself and her children are so low. Also she is grieving and that is exhausting and she probably doesn’t have the energy or appetite to fight things out with Robem and Kody.

I am so frustrated with Janelle. I think she was and still is lying to herself and the camera when she says K was a wonderful and present dad. Heck, she even bought a house during one of those separations. Those are the actions of a woman with serious regrets. (And yes, I realize that it was claimed that her issue was with Meri, not K during one of the separations. But if K was such a great father they both would’ve been motivated to find a solution so that J could return to the family home sooner. Seriously, her kids would’ve been distraught being separated from a “present” dad.)
