@@Madheim777 yes, in Kata. In Kumite, you only use those blocks only when necessary since dodging is much better. And you don't need to do it before an attack because it'll tire yourself out. Even much more unnecessary if done in a real fight.

Also the katas just show a simulation of a combat and those moves can be applied on certain situations, of course some can be used much better than others, it doesn't mean they are unnecessary

Do you mean tornado? If so, it's df[4,3]. The bracket means you have to press 4 and 3 really fast
