What a coincidence the app had me do a test challenge today! When I first started swimming with this app back in January my average threshold pace was 1:35. After completing the improving endurance and advance technique bootcamp training plans my pace got to 1:26 in mid April. I started the get fit IM training plan 3 weeks ago and have definitely felt strength improvements. My pace time however remains the same at 1:26 but the app bumped up my total yardage from 1600 > 2200 in the test challenge. So I would consider that a win still! My goal by the 1 year mark of having this app is to get my threshold pace below 1:20!

I do all the 4 strokes in every session every single day, without knowing that I have been doing the right thing; that has made my swimming effortless day by day.

You forget to mention that 5:14 was the second take, because in the first one the life guard jumped in and tried to drag you out.

Something I will encourage people to do is breathe to both sides. Weather it’s practice in a race or whenever. It’s not bad to only breathe to one side technique wise but it can lead to many medical problems with your neck and hurt your longevity In this sport

I am so thin and have been trying 'not kicking', finally got some reassurance in theory. But I train myself in different kind of kicking every day (intense but not tense:); so the technique is already under my skin.

Thanks for this analysis. You aren’t really commenting why you think Summer broke the world record. You focused on importance of 400IM training. Is it perhaps Summer’s superior endurance from the 400IM. Katie and Ariarne are certainly great endurance swimmers but neither are in the top 25 of the 400IM all time while Summer has the world record. Summer’s time seems to suggest that she is more comfortable going out faster and then use her 400IM endurance to hang on. Her last 100m was slowest of the 3. Anyway, all 3 are amazing swimmers.

Summer Mcintosh has already beaten her in both 400 and 800 so maybe we ought to ask her instead.

Katie has NEVER BEATEN Ariarne over 400 m either at the World Championships or the Olympics. After this video was done, Ariarne reclaimed the World Record and obliterated both Katie and Summer at the World's in the 400 m. Paris Olympics will be interesting......Ariarne had abdominal surgery late 2023...so it may be close.
