DICK TRICKLE your taking this way to serious. Yes I was having fun on the play on words. It’s just a song I haven’t personally sent any children to hell so 😃 that’s good right? ✌️
Rap Rat Trapped I understand by now you're an honest person who goes with the flow. That's why I like your videos. My favorite by far was when you reacted to The Sound of Silence. Saying David, sounded like Buffalo Bill. It still makes me giggle.
I had songs that helped me get through too. This song wasn't one of them but I totally get why some songs hold a special place in the heart. I'm glad that you made it through.
She explained how she speaks for those who are and were abused as a child. I feel this song and Love is a Battlefield back to back explains a lot for kids who have gone through abuse. This song makes you laugh? Abused children are made to put on a brave face and hide the fact that abuse is happening!!! I know this, I was one of those children. We were never allowed to talk about it for fear of another beating. So keep laughing.
This song saved my life! I was molested at the age of 6, and sadly a month or two later, my mom found me in my bathroom with my wrists slit and this song playing on repeat and full blast. During the 2 week stay in the mental hospital I had to do after that, I played and sang this song every night before I went to sleep and to this day it's my anthem of survival.
That's clear that i've never heard that song the way you're pointing it out. Always understand that she's pointing the finger on what the kids are suffering. This is hell for them. At the time i was always, but not only, thinking about what the kids are suffering also in wars.
One of if not the first song to address child abuse. She's pointing out the horror that people had to keep quiet. You do understand when she says "tell grandma you fell off the swing" she's literally bringing attention to an issue no one wanted to admit existed. Maybe you should do a follow up after you look into the song, the singer and the times it was released. Otherwise- man, it's not that complicated. "Hell is for children"
Is he taking it wrong, how white people take "nigga," "hoe," "bitch" and "fuck da police wrong?" Pretty sure that's a struggle for whites when listening to rap. "But they told me they were terms of endearment, that's what Jamal said!"
in 1979-1980 Pat Benatar was already breaking all the rock and roll rules, a woman rocker kicking ass, fighting the record company at every turn and giving all the industry norms the finger, then she put a face on child abuse with this song, it was really the first time child abuse had a face put on it socially. She wrote from the point of view of all the victims and survivors out there who had no voice. It stirred up a lot of shit at the time
She's talking about the Hell that some children go through on Earth. I mean I didn't have a parent or grandparent who punched me in the face or kicked me it the head or abused me in other ways. The worst that I got was a few butt whippings. But I can still understand that some children go through Hell. I completely understand what she is saying. I know what you are saying too in your reaction, but it almost seems like you are looking at a bloody, battered child and laughing at the kid. I know that's not how you mean it though. Trust me.. I know
When she says "Hell is for children", i understand that she´s saying that who pass for the hell of abuse is the kid, and not the abuser beacuse hell does not exist. This song is pop and sad at the same time, really weird feelings. Anyway, killer female singers, i will make a fast list of woman that you must hear. Grace Slick, from Jefferson Airplane. If i need to sumarize the entire hippie movement in one song would be "Somebody to love", the best version is the live one of the album "Bless it pointed little head", amazing song that you probably allready hear somewhere, this link has the audio with best quality. ruclips.net/video/zGnExNeAdcE/видео.html Amy Winehouse - "Fade to black" or "You know i'm no good". Amazingly talented woman, saddly in the "dead at 27" group. easy to find. Chhom Nimol, from Dengue Fever She is cambodian, The song is called "1000 Tears of a Tarantula", the video is the record on the studio, amazing music but maybe in WTF day. ruclips.net/video/Ij4ILlDAIOg/видео.html Nina Simone - Feelind good, Sinnerman or any other. She was a Goddess, talented strong woman, great pianist, this is not rock, i´s greatness, easy to find the music and the videos. Sofia Urista - sleep now in the fire. This is a Bonus, the song is from Rage aginst the machine, but this is the only cover of them that i honestly think it´s better than the original, it´s a live version with metals like sax and trompets, really awesome video and she killed in this song. ruclips.net/video/5JFELSI-CVI/видео.html I garante 100% that all these songs and ladys are class A, i´m a little bit sad because i didn´t gave much thought when indecated Big sky from the kinks, i will not make that mistake again, peace.
Some of my favorite female singers are: Grace Slick ("rejoyce", "Two Heads"), Nina Hagen ("Hand grenade", "I Love Paul"), Lene Lovich (My Lucky Number is One"), Lydia Lunch ("Why don't We Do It In the Road?", "Black Juju"), Janis Joplin ("Ball and Chain"), The B-52s ("Love Shack"), The Pretenders ("Brass in Pocket"), and the Crass album "Penis Envy" (What next, Columbus?"). Most of these would probably fit in on WTF? Wednesday.
The chorus is from the abuser's POV. Yes, it is mean to the kids. The studio version rocks harder. The guitarist is her husband. One of the longest lasting rock marriages. A different look at abuse. Pretenders- Tattooed Love Boys ruclips.net/video/HjXnhT3jXM4/видео.html One of the best debut albums ever. Powerful. And within two years, the guitarist and bassist were both dead.
Perhaps the saddest part of the comments is the hatred and disdain of people. Nobody and o mean nobody in this comment section is for child abuse or wants it to ever happen. Our problems as a people are that we aren't allowed to make a comment about anything without somebody getting pissed or offended. Damn people!!!!!!!
She explains because, after the album release, The Christian Right claimed she was saying children belong in hell and should be abused. They wanted to ban the Lp because hiding behind God is the abuser. When I hear the song I only hear a gritty song about my childhood bullying abuse & I was abducted at 6 and again at 13 The first time he wanted to keep me, The second time they trussed me up and locked me in a chest freezer. I think they thought I was dead. I managed to escape both times only to be spanked by my parents who only cared I broke curfew and didn't want any excuse why and would slap my face every time I tried to tell them what happened. they still don't know. My father didn't allow me to defend myself. If I came home with a mark on me from a bully he'd beat the living hell out of me. I had to run away from bullies to avoid extra beatings at home from my father. and I was angry about it. Her original song expresses perfectly how I felt. If not for my trust God had something special planned for me. I fear I could have become a murderous monster. But I see perfectly what you are saying. It reminds me of a joke around the same time... What's dirtier than a pig in the mud... Come on Eileen, A song by Dexys midnight runners.
RRT it's maybe more about when she did this. and maybe because of her and this song someone like you doesn't get what she made the song for...... Thank you Pat and company.......be careful sir you can tread on holy ground doing what you do.......she is talented, and so much so she has been unmatched as a female rock singer...almost no one wants to tackle her work....and her messages were very strong for her time....no she didn't see youtube and twitter and other ways to communicate or get her word out there.....it wasn't invented yet that someone like you and many others can do what you're doing. give this thing a pass..........for children in hell.
I think she meant that it's only children who have to endure that type of abuse (Hell). It's easy to prey on children who can't defend themselves. Most grown-ups aren't going to let someone do those things to them. So when she says Hell is for children she means that the particular type of hell described in the song is only for children. "Hell is for children." But I wonder if she could've instead said "That Hell is for children"
Wow! I’m can’t understand how you don’t get it. Doesn’t mean the literal place of Hell is for children to go to, but hell in the sense that abused children are living in hell on earth. Which they do!
Think your overthinking it a little.she isn't saying children belong in hell.shes pointing out that alot of kids already live in hell.you way missed her point.lol
We love the gals! She rocks. She actually sang opera I think. The older performances are better for feeling, but newer performances have better audio and video because of technology. Pat's husband is a killer guitarist. Yeah, I am like 56 and I think she's older than me. I would still drink her bath water. 😂😂😂😂😂 Hell is for children is about children being abused. I get though why you don't like the combo of words. They don't seem musical or something. I normally like this song, but this version isn't that good. At least so far. Some of her other, not so famous songs are much more, um, ur, upbeat lets say. Better rockers. IMHO. The guitarist / husband, was her producer first. Saw a documentary on her. Man, you got me to cracking up about the cheer leader thing. lol.
Pat, Chrissy, Joan Jett, Debbie and the one who rocked hardest around this time but nobody hardly knows her state side Siouxsie Sioux. All these women making music history late 70's early 80's
Are you talking about this 1980 version from The Old Grey Whistle Test? I just watched it and the sound seems pretty good for nearly forty-year-old video. ruclips.net/video/OaVANeL_74A/видео.html Maybe you're not talking about this version because there's no audience, although they do play the song live, no lip-sync.
Here's how the metaphor, "Hell is for children," works... "Hell" is like an abstract, imaginary, "fairy tale"-like concept children believe in. For victims of abuse, they live a true-to-life "hell." It's a realization beyond normal age experiences. Realizing and experiencing actually "hellish" moments in your life. So, from their perspective, when they hear of "hell," they think... "Hell? Hell is for children. Hell is for those who don't know better. Hell is here, in my life." Just my opinion.
First, hand up by the way. Anyway, I get what you’re saying. Pat Benatar is forcing the lyrics, meaning she is trying too hard to make a point with this song; particularly because she isn’t coming from a place of experience and wouldn’t have the first clue what it’s like for children in hell. Personally, I’d rather hear it from someone who knows and survived to tell the tale. Though, I will give her that she is a true rocker because she kicked ass in the eighties in a genre dominated by men. There aren’t many women who actually succeeded. You want more women rockers, you might check out Jada Pinkett Smith’s band, Wicked Wisdom. I liked their song, “Bleed All Over Me” a lot. Of course, there is also Evanescence, the Pretenders, Joan Jett, Epica, Nightwish, and the list goes on.
Nothing I ever say when discussing the poetry of a song or the music in a song is meant to offend anyone because that is all we are talking about in this forum. I was addressing awkward lyrics in a song and no more. I admire Pat Benatar for her work raising funds for abused children but the song itself drew major controversy because of its awkward lyrics, which drove attention away from the cause when it had everyone bickering and fighting. In music and poetry, I prefer to hear an artists pain from a place of experience. To me, that is what music and poetry are for, to express pain so that others feel what it is like. That is a preference. It isn’t an opinion to say that anyone else who doesn’t is wrong. Why I prefer it that way is because I was badly abused as a child myself and every decision I made in my life stemmed from that abuse. I had to hit rock bottom in my self-destructive ways before I understood that I had to fight for myself if I wanted to survive. I didn’t need some well off woman to write a song about a topic she didn’t understand to raise funds for a charity that never reached me. Most of us suffer in the dark and I get that was what her song was about but it didn’t change an abusers heart and many people who listen to music never bother to understand the poetry. They simply like the sound and when it’s over, they move on to the next song. I am truly sorry that I offended you.
I didn’t fail to grasp what she did to raise a spotlight on the topic. You assumed that. All I did was pick apart a song and I hated the lyric, “Hell is for Children.” By that statement, Pat Benatar came at it from the abuser’s perspective and it made me feel icky. I am a writer and fully understand how the choice of words one uses to drive home a point matters greatly, and this is exactly the reason the song upset so many people. The title alone suggests something entirely different than the context of the song as a whole but not many bothered to listen because they were appalled from the start. That is an opinion. You don’t have to share it but I have a right to it. And we are simply talking about the song itself, not her as a person. Also, I think it would be important if everyone checked the financial dealings with charities founded by Hollywood, religions, and corporations. In many, we will find that maybe up to 10% of the funds received actually trickle down to the cause while the rest lines the pockets of those involved, some members at the top affording themselves fancy cars, luxurious housing, and fine dining. I’m not accusing Pat Benatar of this because I don’t know the financials on her particular charities but it’s a very real issue, so before we cough up money, investigate where every dollar we send goes. Lastly, if you’d read the comments below, many felt the same way I did and yet you chose to attack me. In all that you said in your first post, and I want you to consider this carefully, you say you’re passionate about the topic of abuse because you were abused and I’m truly sorry that you were, but instead of coming at me reasonably, you cursed me and told me I have no right to share my thoughts because they didn’t conform to yours; thereby, you yourself became the abuser. Words hurt, too, and when people project that sort of negativity into the world, it has a domino effect, which creates more abusers.
Obviously the song is about child abuse and what the children endure at the hands of their abusers. The title, "Hell is for Children" isn't about sending children to hell.. it's hell for children when they endure the beatings at the hands of other's. Seriously, I understood what the lyrics meant when the album was released and I was 15 years old!
@@themightyfp I have one of the most sarcastic and bent sence of humors anyone could ever have, but child abuse is no laughing matter... Humor is not needed.
Hell is for children and the way the lyrics are being delivered are about you. I saw one of your responses to someone who was a victim of childhood sexual abuse. "Life is really tough at times." Yeah. That's life. The point is, it wasn't for her and it wasn't for some of us. Some of us had great childhoods. Your response is a major part of the problem a lot of us face when trying to expose and change things. That's life. Overcome it. No thank you. That's hell and we shouldn't have to put up with it or brush it all off as if "that's just the way things are". Everyone can just get over it and we can be happy and celebrate their mental toughness and fortitude. Screw that perpetuating the hell people have to endure in the name of, "that's life".
I understand abuse wet well my dad would put me in the shower fully clothed and whip me till I had to break through the sliding glass door at the age of 11. I just thought the wording was funny. I’d never disrespect children or anyone who’s been abused. But it’s just a song that I found lyrically silly. ✌️
@@themightyfp I'm not saying you disrespected anyone. I'm saying the lyric hell is for children is referring to "life is hard" etc. normalizing the abuse. Abusing children (and everything else) has been around for a very long time. As in, it's part of life. Hell on Earth. This life is hard etc. I mean you're right and as you've pointed out, you know life can be hard. You and I both know it's quite the understatement. The people preaching Hell. She's saying, we don't have to wait to get to Hell, we're already there. It's not just for those who haven't accepted Jesus etc. It's for kids. Right now. I was just referring to one thing you said and how it applies to the wording that many are confused by.
I was also confused by this song when it first came out. Like you, I didn't understand the lyric "hell is for children" until I really thought about it and realized that she was inartfully trying to say that the belief in hell is for children and that the real hell is here on Earth. Still, she could have come up with a better lyric to express her outrage.
Because when she sings "Hell is for children" it sounds like she means that children belong in hell. I'm glad you understood it, but to the casual listener it doesn't make sense until you really think about it.
I understand the meaning behind the entire song, but she should have sang "Hell isn't for Children" not that it IS for children, which makes no sense whatsoever. Why would it be FOR children? They don't deserve to be in hell. I'm glad you understood it so readily, but I still think the song is confusing. It obviously confused Rap Rat Trapped, so I'm sure it confused many others as well.
You have your opinion and I have mine. Get over it. Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean you are wrong and I am right, or you are right and I am wrong. People have different opinions about art, which is a subjective medium. As such, the meaning of any form of art is not set in stone.
So ... because I don't interpret the lyrics exactly as you think they should be interpreted, that must mean that I don't understand them? She is the author of the lyrics. She wrote them a certain way and they are what they are. There is no changing that fact. I never said her opinion was wrong, I merely said that I wish that one lyric wasn't so ambiguous. I am not the only person who feels this way. I like the song in certain respects, but it is NOT my favorite song by her. Just because you think the song is perfect the way it is, doesn't mean I have to think the same thing. I don't think hell IS for children. In fact, I don't believe in hell at all. If there is a hell, it is here on Earth, not in some fantasy place with devils and demons, where they torture you for all eternity. I interpret the meaning of the lyric as being a belief in hell is for children, and that the real hell for children is here on Earth. You can interpret it differently if you want, but I don't think she wrote it to mean what you think. That is MY opinion. You have yours. Get over it, dude! Jeez!
Hell is for children in that children go through hell. They are so impressionable. Feeble and weak. No voice. No defense. Are under the care of their abusers. They are living in hell. Idk if that helps.
good to hear you peace! hah too many hairy mofos ! i agree! think this 2001 live version kinda has a dramatic shtick , slower, loose performance that undermines the delivery of the lyrics does not reflect the more rock and tight studio version - ruclips.net/video/MxYsi5Y-xOQ/видео.html seems when artists age and play their greatest live they change up the song that it becomes a caricature a WTF will come in to the world.. Think they went off the path in this post 21 years live performance. with that being said this is a great song with a deep message. 'Spyder' Neil Giraldo is an under rated and beast of guitarist and song writing partner of Pat Benetar . Stay Peace!!
Pat Benatar may not have been abused, she's trying to bring to light all the child abuse in the world that goes unseen. I'll give you an example of what her lyrics mean, I was sexually abused and physically abused for many years when I was a child, all that abuse has stayed with me and created a hell forever in my life, because of the things that happen that can't be fixed. Just keep this in mind, there are little ones out there maybe even your next door neighbor's child, that's crying because they're afraid of their daddy sneaking into their bedroom or their mommy coming home to beat them. I go to bed every night knowing that there's a little one crying as I lay my head down and there's nothing I can do about it, because I don't know who they are, so their lives will continue to be hell for years to come. Hence, hell is for children
@@themightyfp I know the wording seemed a little weird that's why I explained it to you. And there's no need to be sorry, it's made me an extremely strong person, a little too strong I think.
Too many times when singers and celebrities try to make statements its t make themselves feel good not to fix things. I'm not a big fan of that attitude. They have a lot of great music though I saw them in 81 and it was a great show
Be THANKFUL that you DON'T understand. Thank whatever Gods you pray to, that you can't understand the simple concept of what Child Abuse must be like to go through.
I'm a Woman and I got my hands in the air. :) You need to watch Heart ( a sister Rock band ) They started in 1973. Ann Wilson (lead singer) and Nancy Wilson (guitarist). Heart - Barracuda (1977) is a good live video if you want to see them when they were younger. Or Crazy On You - Heart - live 2013 when they were Inducted into Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I have seen them twice in concert. They put on one hell of a show. And BTW I enjoy watching your reactions to music and songs that you have never heard before. I think it's cool. Somethings we like somethings we don't. That what makes this world a fun place to live. If we all like the same thing , well wouldn't it be one boring place to live. I look forward to watching your videos. Peace
It is the exact opposite of what you are saying. Keep in mind this was 1979. The laws concerning child abuse were very different. Abuse within families was acceptable. She is literally, saying that children are being put through hell, & nothing is being done about it!!
Our connotation of Hell is that it is bad. A abused child's life is worse than hell. Thus hell is for children because it is not as bad as their abused life. I will agree that this is a bad version of the song. Think that hell is a better place than their life here on earth.
I believe she got the title from a series of newspaper articles she read about child abuse. It wasn't her wording. And I think she had the same confusion surrounding the song when it became a hit; people unsure as to it's meaning. Maybe a little research before you listen to something might help that perpetual state of confusion of yours.
If you really want to hear an amazing female performance check out Heart playing stairway to heaven in front of the surviving members of Led Zeppelin. Is it a good one? I don’t know but they get a standing ovation.
You listen to the lyrics, but you somehow don't understand. She is being sarcastic! From the point of view of the sick adults who abuse kids! Btw, when this song first came out, most radio stations banned it because they also simply heard the words "hell is for children" literally. Wake up man & stop laughing. (No you don't get the message, or you wouldn't be laughing).
I'd like to see any current rapper or hip hop chick try to tackle this song or any of Benatar's tunes. Mary J Blige tried and it was a total disaster. I am sure that in 30 years some young kid from another new genre of music is going to listen to one of today's hip hop songs and think WTF? They liked to beat bitches, rape them abuse dem and make lots of money doin it while living in mansions with expensive cars talking bout how they from the hood? Or am I taking that too literal?
Everardo Romero too literal they are usually broke have no girls and talk shit. But you seem limited if the first thing in rap you think of is rape and beating “bitches” you sound misinformed on what hiphop music is unfortunately. Btw way the song is ok you dont have to wait 30 years their are tons of artist who could cover this song and make it sound proper.
Between this and the Janis Joplin reaction, I don't know but you have some pretty fucked up luck, you seem to pick the shittiest live versions of some of the greatest female vocalists ever. Don't just pick one with the most views. Pick a video, don't play it, pause it immediately and go to the comments section and read what they are saying, you'll be able to find out in the first few comments if it's good or not, and when it's not the best, they'll list which one is.
I go by links sent to me I don't know whats what since i don't watch them till i record the video. Once i start i don't want to stop. So its hit or miss. Thanks for the feed back though peace.
If you get the message then you understand the title is just a poor choice of words, because taken by itself sounds like the advocation of child abuse. Yeah, we get it.
On defense o/RRT: Seems 2have had a "weed malfunction"[old brownies, different batch, etc.] sht happens. Dude's been pretty honest, funny, n entertaining untill, n still. Even baseball gives u 3×, so let's not crucify'em just yet! *#PARDONRRT*
It seems ever reactor has a problem with the title. You have to think what hell is like, all the suffering, so for a child being abused it's like being in hell, hence Hell is for Children.
How you reacted is a symptom of the death of empathy. People can't simply believe that someone from outside their tribe can have some understanding of their life. You said that Pat had a good childhood, so how can she sing about abused children? I can understand your confusion about the music though, I feel guilty about rocking out listening to it.

This song was so controversial back in the day. Parents thought Pat Benetar was advocating child abuse. Great song. Sending good vibes and energy.
Sherri Barnes my mom thought it was about demons
she means....Only CHILDREN KNOW WHAT HELL ON EARTH IS
During the period the song came out, it was the first to tap into social conscience of child abuse. Original version much better.
I think it's one the first songs that dealt with "local" issues, as opposed to songs about "world" issues like war or political happenings.

If i need to sumarize the entire hippie movement in one song would be "Somebody to love", the best version is the live one of the album "Bless it pointed little head", amazing song that you probably allready hear somewhere, this link has the audio with best quality.

Amy Winehouse - "Fade to black" or "You know i'm no good".
Amazingly talented woman, saddly in the "dead at 27" group. easy to find.
Chhom Nimol, from Dengue Fever
She is cambodian, The song is called "1000 Tears of a Tarantula", the video is the record on the studio, amazing music but maybe in WTF day.
ruclips.net/video/Ij4ILlDAIOg/видео.html
Nina Simone - Feelind good, Sinnerman or any other.
She was a Goddess, talented strong woman, great pianist, this is not rock, i´s greatness, easy to find the music and the videos.
Sofia Urista - sleep now in the fire.
This is a Bonus, the song is from Rage aginst the machine, but this is the only cover of them that i honestly think it´s better than the original, it´s a live version with metals like sax and trompets, really awesome video and she killed in this song.
ruclips.net/video/5JFELSI-CVI/видео.html
I garante 100% that all these songs and ladys are class A, i´m a little bit sad because i didn´t gave much thought when indecated Big sky from the kinks, i will not make that mistake again, peace.
This video is from 2001. Pat Benatar would have been 48 years old at that time.
Such under rated songs .
As an abused child, it was hell. Abused children can't defend themselves like an adult can. Therefore, hell is for children.
Wednesday.
Not a bad choice for Pat. At least better than listening to the most common ones. I believe Fire & Ice really shows off her vocals.
Eventually you will understand that you can't take rock lyrics as literally as hiphop.
The chorus is from the abuser's POV. Yes, it is mean to the kids.
The studio version rocks harder. The guitarist is her husband. One of the longest lasting rock marriages.
A different look at abuse.
Pretenders- Tattooed Love Boys

One of the best debut albums ever. Powerful. And within two years, the guitarist and bassist were both dead.
I just can't figure out why your laughing at a song about child abuse.
S Toy I clearly said I wasn’t laughing at the song but the chorus which to ME doesn’t make sense.
The phrase is an angry response to the hell the kids are living in.
She's addressing child abuse. When you're being abused as a child, it is hell for you. Hence the title Hell Is For Children.
Heart Barracuda (1977)
2thinkon maybe idk it didn’t click with me. The chorus that is.
Rap Rat Trapped, I agree. No matter what her intended message, she made it difficult to receive because of the way she worded the main line.
If you are an abused child, life is hell for you...
Ingo Bordewick ok that makes sense but the way she phrased just threw me off. Thanks for the feedback peace ✌️
She was born in 1953.....always a gorgeous lady......she's saying these kids are living through hell......it's all they know.....
TY ✌️
the situation is that kids are living in hell because they can't tell the truth they have to lie to be saved

My understanding is that "Hell Is For Children" was the headline of the article that inspired her to write this song
Seen her at Artpark.( Lewiston NY). The day Casey Anthony was Acquitted.
Casey, this song is for you.........
This song will sadly ALWAYS BE RELEVANT.
Wow! I’m can’t understand how you don’t get it. Doesn’t mean the literal place of Hell is for children to go to, but hell in the sense that abused children are living in hell on earth. Which they do!
she caught hell back in the day, people didn't listen to the words, thought she was saying children go to hell
Think your overthinking it a little.she isn't saying children belong in hell.shes pointing out that alot of kids already live in hell.you way missed her point.lol
Neil Giraldo is my hero.
We love the gals! She rocks. She actually sang opera I think.
The older performances are better for feeling, but newer performances have better audio and video because of technology.
Pat's husband is a killer guitarist.
Yeah, I am like 56 and I think she's older than me. I would still drink her bath water. 😂😂😂😂😂
Hell is for children is about children being abused.
Man, you got me to cracking up about the cheer leader thing. lol.
Yes - she's a trained opera singer as she also had her beautiful daughter learn it
Pat, Chrissy, Joan Jett, Debbie and the one who rocked hardest around this time but nobody hardly knows her state side Siouxsie Sioux. All these women making music history late 70's early 80's
Listen to the original recording. This version is downplayed and more mellow
Unfuck the World by Prophets of Rage & Fixin To Die Rag by Country Joe
She was a little package of 9 octave dynamite. And her lead guitar playing husband could do it,too. Was about abuse.
Nobody would have listened A She did it to get her message out And it worked An abused kid's life is a living hell that's the message
Classic song ....pat was and still is a badass
Are you talking about this 1980 version from The Old Grey Whistle Test? I just watched it and the sound seems pretty good for nearly forty-year-old video. ruclips.net/video/OaVANeL_74A/видео.html Maybe you're not talking about this version because there's no audience, although they do play the song live, no lip-sync.
David Ryder yup that’s the one ☝️
She looks like a mix of Kylie Minogue and Jane Curtain
r u listening to the lyrics, dude
I saw Pat in 1980 at Rocklahoma. Hot!!
You buggin with this twisted reaction. IMO
Michael Todd probably
Rap Rat Trapped But hey, I still fuck witchu tho! Keep up the good work!
Michael Todd peace my brother ✌️
Here's how the metaphor, "Hell is for children," works...
"Hell" is like an abstract, imaginary, "fairy tale"-like concept children believe in. For victims of abuse, they live a true-to-life "hell." It's a realization beyond normal age experiences. Realizing and experiencing actually "hellish" moments in your life. So, from their perspective, when they hear of "hell," they think... "Hell? Hell is for children. Hell is for those who don't know better. Hell is here, in my life."
Just my opinion.
The abused children are going through hell mess
Storm Raven thanks for sharing I’ll look up Jadas band peace ✌️
Rap Rat Trapped - I’d love to see a reaction because if you haven’t heard the band, I think you will be surprised.
She is not talking about a literal hell .hell is the situation that the kid is in being abused
She's not being mean to children. She is angry because children get abused.
Why not watch a performance from the 70s?
Mr. O'Hearn I have and will
Right on, she was a firecracker back in the day. Excellent reactions RRT!!
I understood it also people just don’t appreciate my sense of humor 🤷♂️ it’s fine stay safe and be well ✌️
@@themightyfp I have one of the most sarcastic and bent sence of humors anyone could ever have, but child abuse is no laughing matter...
@@randybaker6042 copy. Thanks for the reply have a great day 😊✌️
@@themightyfp big thanks to you for responding to begin with. Best wishes.
J. Jennings I was 10 yrs old when this song came out, understood it the first time I heard it. I don't get what's so hard to understand.
It’s not complicated dude. It’s a song about the hell that kids go through from abused families
Where did u get confused?
good to hear you peace! hah too many hairy mofos ! i agree! think this 2001 live version kinda has a dramatic shtick , slower, loose performance that undermines the delivery of the lyrics does not reflect the more rock and tight studio version - ruclips.net/video/MxYsi5Y-xOQ/видео.html seems when artists age and play their greatest live they change up the song that it becomes a caricature a WTF will come in to the world..
Sorry for what you e been through and I wasn’t making light of the situation of course. But I just found the wording funny that’s all.

Seriously I understood this in high school, why is this so complicated, child abuse is Hell for children, hellooooooo.
Sounds like she is darkly embracing her activism. God gave her the voice but surely God isn't using it. You are seeing things spot on
think shes 67 now
How about Stevie Nicks solo?
Stone roses fool's gold
If you really want to hear an amazing female performance check out Heart playing stairway to heaven in front of the surviving members of Led Zeppelin. Is it a good one? I don’t know but they get a standing ovation.
she is yelling at the parents HELL IS FOR CHILDREN they messed up their lives so bad that the kids have to lie to be saved so they are living in hell
Martina McBride tackled this subject much better in Concrete Angel.
RRT! Type O Negative - Black No. 1

Here's a GREAT song for your WTF? Wednesday's, Aerosmith-Pink
