Raghu arrives at his first ashram in India, disappointed because he didn’t find the answers he was looking for. He is left in limbo while he continues to seek his friend and his guru. Meanwhile, Ram Dass ventures out of his comfort zone and follows Bhagavan Das on a transformative journey through India, leading to a very special meeting at the Kainchi ashram. He tells about adopting the robes of the holy men of India. Quickly Ram Dass learns of the reverence this new role brings and struggles with accepting this treatment.
“The Indians are beautiful wonderful people, it’s just that they don’t live in time the way we do. These poor unfortunate Indians, they haven’t yet learned to live in time, we’ll teach them.”
Ram Dass talks about the origins of the famous phrase ” Be Here Now”. After sleeping on the ground and begging for food, Ram Dass grew weary following Bhagavan Das around India. Tired hungry and in pain, Ram Dass realized that so much of his discomfort came from living in the past and thinking about the future. He learned to be in the moment and let his feelings recede into the distance like a wave.

I've heard him and others say in a multitude of talks that it was lsd (acid), in fact three doses of lsd at once, I've never heard mushrooms mentioned in this instance and i've been listening over several years. Peace.
