Hey just wanted to say a huge thanks to you for getting me back on the bike did my first full hour session a couple of days ago big win! About the twinge in your knee you describe is similar to what I felt when I changed shoes. for me the angle of the cleat had changed so the heel was further from the chain. Id suggest comparing your foot position between old and new shoes and see if you can adjust. though if you feel the knee pain when you're not on the bike id definitely let that settle down first
The trainer lag is keeping you in the race. You're definitely using and timing the lag to your advantage. You keep doing short bursts and then stopping and your trainer is producing the watts for a good little while after you stop pedalling.
My trainer does suffer with sticky watts a bit. Unfortunately my riding style, especially when I'm so unfit, is very stop-start, which makes it look worse. To suggest that I'm doing it on purpose to gain an advantage though is laughable - I'm in no fit state to think about doing anything like that and I didn't even get to the end with the group 😂 Ill worry about it more when I'm sticking with the rest of the D cat to the end of the race, at which point, hopefully, I'll be pedalling constantly.
New shoes ?? check the cleats are not slightly "off" forward or back not too much of an issue but if one is slightly pointing left or right it can totally screw up your knee!!
I think your issue with dropping off the back is that you stop pedalling. I try to not get under 150w. I know your knee hurts, but if it gets better, try to keep your legs turning. But incredible that you finished it. It shows dedication. Take the small wins! You'll get there!
It definitely is the problem, I just can't pedal anymore 😂 It was something I was working on prior to having the time off and it was definitely helping to stay in the group - just need to get back there again! Thanks 🙂
The power lag from your trainer seems much too long. Is it an editing thing with your image being a bit off from the race timing? If not, maybe you could change how your trainer is reporting power to Zwift. I occasionally have this type of issue with Bluetooth.

RUclips to help. Side wiew. Maybe it is just a position of the saddle being to far. That will defenetly make knee pain.

Unfortunately it's a known problem with my trainer 😞
