Been a Sri Lankan i thank you for a honest and constructive conversation regarding our country. Our country was blessed by baudha during his visits to lanka. During covid time everyone thought that when Delta variant hit india where lots of people died, most expected that it will make havoc in SL. But luckily it was not bad as everyone thought. As you said we are a resilient nation, we have faced similar or much worst situations during our long history. We will rise strong once again to show the world our commitment by the help of india which we have a very strong historical bond.

Glad to listen this clear, pragmatic and progressive discussion that articulate the brighter side of developing the relationship between Sri Lanka and India and well wishes to Mr. Yash Sinha from Sri Lanka.
I would like to add a particular fact that we Sri Lankans would like Indians to think about and act accordingly. We don’t think there’s a Tamil rights issue in Sri Lanka. If there’s an issue regarding Tamils, well India also face the same scenario. And that’s non other than the separatist mindset of the Tamil people in both the countries. Either it’s Tamilnadu or Sri Lankan Tamil dominated regions, same doctrine is going on. So the Government of India should not push us into empowering 13th amendment, police and sovereign powers to specifically Tamils which Sri Lanka dislikes to the core. The Indian government should shed the idea of pushing Sri Lanka into this pit for the sake of pleasing the racially biased Tamilians in Tamilnadu which in return will tarnish the good relationship between our both countries. If we are to ensure our support to India’s security interests, India also have the moral obligation not to put Sri Lanka in this uncomfortable situation.

As a sri lankan, JVP is anti India? no it wasn't against India per say (as palki from firstpost try to say), it was the occupation of indian army to support the unpopular corrupt president in 1980s. It's important to be open minded about subtle narratives, sometimes there's more to the story beyond the headline.
Also we accepted the free trade agreement. We rejected ETCA because India and SL are two counties which has over supply of human capital. It was wise to forgone. India n SL don't have a shortage of doctors, lawyers, IT people (professionals - which ETCA focussed on.)
Again thank you India for being a great neighbor for the most part of history.

One of the main topics that the jvp was based on since the beginning was indian expansionism right? I mean it was quite highlighted in recent election talks as well.
That unpopular corrupt president introduced sri lanka to the open economy, even prior to india which we were unable to continue thereafter, had ruled the country in most chaotic times of sri lanka, had sort of balanced all the foreign powers and moreover had implemented a constitution which was powerful enough to protect the democracy at any unstable periods. Ofc his rule was brutal but not much as the terrorist organisation called jvp.

Secondly, is Bangladesh planning to go to war with India? Judging by the tone of this comment, one would be tempted to reach this conclusion, which wouid seem to be in sync with Mahfuz Alam's map of Bangladesh including West Bengal, Assam and Odisha.
This sort of unprovoked hostility towards a country to which Bangladesh owes its very existence, is as ill-advised as it is reckless. One hopes that better sense prevails in Bangladesh, especially with
