Reverb: to create depth and a cohesive space. (The bigger the further away)
    Panning: balance it
Listen in mono but use stereo effects.
Careful with stereo bus compression, instead use compressor on individual channels that need it (glue)

A top down approach some use as well. On the master bus add compressors, limter etc and run it all into them while mixing.

Thank you for this. My biggest lesson was not to kill space with bus compression and limiting. Really really helpful.

dropping great knowledge! always worried about widening the sound too much and using the stereosize, would love a tutorial on that, keep up the good work 🙏

Hi Oli, if you're referring to the imager in Ozone 8, I don't personally utilize the "stereoize" function for this reason. The imager section works very well without this function on and unless you get totally carried away, it retains mono compatibility well in my experience. From what I've gathered, "stereoize" is for sources with little to no stereo information present.

You the man sean! Question for you. Say you have 2 instruments, say like 2 pads, a bright pad and a mellow pad. You want them to separate more, so you pan then like 30L, 1 30R. Let's say one of the pads leaves in the verse, how would you fill that missing part? Hope this makes sense. I always seem to have 1 part that is like never balanced. Maybe just always have 2 parts for each idea? Sorry if I'm confusing

you can use automation to pull the pad that is still there closer to center if not full center. Hope this helps

Mono compartibility = Listening in mono , NOT making every instrument mono....... *my 2 cents*

6:25 you have a medium-fast release couse you wanted to preserve the dynamics that you achived when you mixed this right?

When you say 'stereo bus' are you referring to your master bus?
