    I have been stressing last couple of days to why my microphone is not connecting to my laptop. You don’t understand how much this video helped me. I want to say massive thank you from the bottom of my heart. I can finally relax now. Thank you once again

      I bought USB adapter (Option 2) but I’m having the same problem your were having in option three. My laptop recognises the device and there’s change in input devices but the problem is ‘Test your Microphone’ bar doesn’t move. What can I do to solve this problem? Or should I buy Audio cable (option 3) to see if this would work for my laptop

    This is really helpful - but I've just spent the whole day travelling to buy the go wireless and SC7 cable after advice from another yoga teacher (Ashley Hagan) and was shocked and disappointed when it didn't work. I don't think I will be able to buy the splitter but I will try to do so tomorrow. Thanks. What an exhausting process this is turning out to be...

      Hi Lucy, funny enough I actually watched her video as well before realising that her solution doesn't work for my laptop. Hence the reason I made the video so other someone else could benefit and not have to go through the painful process! I've included the Amazon links to the cables below in the description so if you have an Amazon account then you should be able to get these cables working without issue. If all else fails, option 4 is full proof and works on any laptop or PC as long as you use the original cable that comes with the microphones as a number of people have mentioned in the comments of this video. I realize afterwards that I used the wrong cable otherwise it would have worked as well. Let me know how you get on! I'm very confident 1 of the methods I've listed in the video will definitely work for you or anyone else having this issue.

      @@productivitycorner thanks so much. The trouble is I’m not living here. I’m a bit of a digital nomad and we are here for a while in a small resort and then we move on - hence my need to teach online! I will try the local shop tomorrow but I am not optimistic about his having the solutions. Thanks anyway because of all the videos I watched yours was best by far!

    Thanks for a detailed video. What a shame that Such a brand name company can't get their sh*t together and INCLUDE all the required cables like sc7/USB adapter OR make the connections simpler for laptop connect. This has put me off from buying this product which is a shame as i like their quality of transmission. ☹️

  • @para-cad_llc

    Very thorough presentation. Thank you! In option 4, can you swap out the SC7 cable for the original included cable to see if the XLR adapter is set up to take a 3-contact versus 4-contact cable from the RODE receiver? Never mind....I just read that you've already thought of that. I'm going with option 2 for now. Thanks so much.

    Thanks for this review. This issue clearly causes some confusion for the user which isn't helped by different laptops responding differently to each solution. An American yoga reviewer (Ashley Hagan) also posted a similar video highlighting that the solutions respond differently depending upon the make & model of your laptop. I've ordered all of the bits to deliver solution 2 (so I can leave the headphone port free) for my Dell Inspiron so I'll update when I have an answer. BTW, if you're looking to use the wireless microphone on an IPhone or Android phone/tablet then Ashley also has a number of solutions for that option

    You have to use TRS mini jack (black cable), so you need another adapter for your mic. Rode has actually said that in their video.

    • @antonweijsenfeld2729
      @antonweijsenfeld2729 3 года назад

      The "another adapter" is actually the cable from the very first setup shown - the black-black cable - that is to be used with the AI1

    Thanks for making this. I have a dell laptop as well and this was driving me insane for the last hour. Option #1, and Option #3 do not work. I know my cables are working, I can get audio input to my iPhone with the SC7 cable in option #1 (with the apple adapter ofc). So the issue is something with Dell laptops...

  • @asderven
    @asderven 3 года назад +2

    Maybe try the original cable with the last option? Sometimes my rode works with the splitter and other times it does not. Trying to figure out what I have to do to make it work every time. I don't have windows 10, otherwise would have set it up with the m50 directly to see if the audio is picked up in live streaming while recording. I want to use the rode for voice over for my baking videos mostly. The amount of things that happen in a kitchen with mother dear, don't want the world to know all the colourful names i get called :D.
    Great video and review.

    • @asderven
      @asderven 3 года назад

      I figured out my issue. On my pc, there is a sound card, apparently, I just need to use the original cable and plug it in directly to the pc. I don't need anything else. I hope this helps others out, because I notice outside the computer circles people hardly know their way around tech much for trouble shooting, standards, information.
      My pc acts like the camera, a direct connection.

    When using the AI-1/VXLR+ you should use the black (TRS) connector to plug the microphone into the VXLR+. The grey (TRRS) connectors are only intented for direct connection to a computer/mobil device.

    So odd how I did ever little thing order every single one to insure I get the right one going for me in one punch, turns out only one worked for me the “splitter for the mic an headphone “, didn’t work when I plugged the rode into the mic splitter port tried an tired ended i then plugging it into the headphone port with the rode an bam it worked wires at the factory where placed wrong? So try each side first before eliminating the spitter options. Everything works wonders now an thank god I didn’t have to go with the last option because nothing worked till I simply tried the other side of the splitter

    The VXLR+ option does work if you use the original red cable to the RODE Wireless Go, At least it did when connected via my RODECASTER PRO interface. The AI-1 should word just as well. The VXLR+ is designed to reduce the "plug in power" of the interface, so it is very important to get it and not the cheaper VXLR, otherwise you might damage your equipment.

    • @MrYankosG
      @MrYankosG 3 года назад +1

      Not true! Just use the cheaper VXLR with phantom power turned OFF. RODE WIRELESS GO doesn’t need plug-in power.
      PS.
      By the way VXLR+ is designed to reduce phantom power to plug-in power.

  • @MrYankosG
    @MrYankosG 3 года назад +1

    You definitely don’t (or should not) use the VXLR+ with RODE WIRELESS GO! Just use the cheaper VXLR as RODE WIRELESS GO doesn’t need plug-in power.
    You can also try the splitter solution with the original TRS to TRS cable, (as the splitter input is not TRRS) and see if that works.

      Yes ! And Also use mic input if you have one . On Mac its Easy ...( usb a on order Mac ) usb c to 3.5 from 2018 or xlr And sc7 =✅. On rode caster pro use xlr ( No power version ) + Sc7 cable to receiver .🙌🏾

    I have problem using the rode wireless go with my laptop Dell xps 15, I am connecting it with the DuKabel USB to 3.5mm Jack Audio Adapter as you show in the second option in the video, when I record it most of the time the volume is very very low, I don't understeand why, a couple of time randomly it did work normal but then for some reason again it doesn't work. I can also use the microphone with my camera without problems, so it is just something between the microphone and the laptop, anyone have any idea which could be the problem?

    Given this video is 3 years old the tip im about to share may just be a more recent firmware addition. Just use a USBC from the receiver straight into the Computer usb and it will pop right up without issue. problem solved.

  • @syncurmind

    I think The TRRS connector didn't work because the 3.5mm port on XPS works only in output mode unlike other laptops.

    Couldn't you use a 8th inch to quarter inch adapter instead of vxlr?

    • @productivitycorner
      @productivitycorner  3 года назад

      Hey! Rode actually recommends using it with a VXRL and guarantee that this solution will work every time hence I tried it because I had already wasted wayyyyy too much time trying to get the Rode wireless go to connect to my laptop and was desperate for a solution that actually worked!
      I've put a link to the Rode video where they walk through the option 4 solution. Having seen it again, I can see that possibly the reason mine didn't work was because I used the SC7 cable with the vxlr and AI-1 rather than the black cable that comes with the mic 🤔ruclips.net/video/2ETgtBjpPFg/видео.html
      I didn't actually try it with an 8th inch to quarter-inch adapter but let me know if that works for you and I'll post it here so that it might help someone else as well 💪

      @@luizcarlos217 I believe I did; or the equivalent of the Dukabel with Rode SC7 - but it didn't work. In the end it was the original Rode cable that came with the mic and a Sabrent USB External Stereo Sound Adapter that led me out of the labyrinth.
