  • It was my last morning in Bali and so I went for a surf. The winds have turned onshore and overnight 1000s and 1000s of pieces of plastic started washing in taking over the line up. No matter how much the locals try and clean, it just keeps coming in the current. It was overwhelming how much there was. The beaches were spotless the entire time, all of the plastic arrived overnight.
Still managed to grovel and get a couple of fun little turns in, on 1ft waves.

The good people of Bali are out in the morning cleaning the beaches, this trash arrived overnight with the onshore winds. Really highlights how much plastic is out there in the ocean.
The beaches and water other than this day were pristine and clean.

Great moves. Yeah, plastic all around the world now unfortunately, hidden out at sea 'out of sight and out of mind'. Bless the folks in Bali and all those who volunteer everywhere doing their bit on the beaches.

The most amazing humans the Balinese are.
I just couldn’t believe how much washed in overnight.

@@joshtraceysurfing bless them. Yeah, only upside is if it makes it to shore it can be taken away, though looks like would take a lot of time and patience.

@@surferwatcheruk can’t even imagine what those huge floating plastic islands must be like in real life.

@@joshtraceysurfing awful mate, though I read the tech is getting there with ways to collect it - still take 100s of years of course, may be more, trouble is we are all still using the stuff.

Sucks huh? We’ve just band most single use plastics here. I think people would be less concerned about bringing their own bags to the shops if they saw what plastic was doing to the environment.
