beautiful video--saw part 1 too. Nice to see what they do in the shops. That was my dream, to work for the railroad but im older, I leave it as my hobby, model railroading and photography.
hey Deryk.... great footage .. loved the layout seen & you are right you would need a room... just for that scene.. thanks for taking the time to document this for us vinny
Nice videos! I found this really cool because 4657 runs the P43 local with slug 614 from Charlotte here in NC! I also saw 3223, which obviously is the sister unit of 3222 Wednesday on a northbound with the 1073 penn central a unit away! It was pretty cool. Thanks for filming this
Thanks! it was great to tour it! I loved the HO layout of the facility too! Wish I would have got some more footage of it. Glad you liked the video. Deryk
I was actually given a ticket by an employee. I am very grateful to have had the chance to tour this facility. Thanks for watching and commenting! Deryk
Great video. I love the H O scale facility layout - that’s a huge place. I am taking it that “slug unit” is another term for the “B” unit. Is that right?
United Railfan Photos It was a special event held for employee appreciation. You needed a ticket to get it, which were given to employees for themselves and family. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a ticket.
Hey, Deryk could you send me that layout, it would save me some time. Don't worry I'll pay for the postage. lol Those locos come out really nice when they are done. Great video.
Tiger Rule Slugs just have traction motors, and no engine. The slug can provide motive power, but it has to get all its electricity from the mother unit, which has the diesel engine (prime mover). Since it has no diesel engine, riding in a slug is much quieter and more comfortable, which is why if there’s a slug in a consist, it’s usually the leading engine.
Wow NS is really upgrading its units . All are getting new LED headlites , new , no light leak ditch lites , crisp clean paint jobs , upgraded decoders , remote operating couplers , smoke generators with proyotype smell , cab figures that face the direction of travil , properly weighted to pull protipical loads and all units have been speed matched . What a railroad . LMAO . Randy
If only things were that clean and organized

I love these videos. Great job. Wish I could've been there.
+Curtis 64 Thank you Curtis!
Think about how neat it would have been to see all that during the steam years when they use to build everything their
+smartassstevie That would have been awesome!
Be much neater when tommorow was tour day? Be cool for me
this is a very, very nice video a wonderful departure!
+Shane Stoddard Thank you Shane!
Cool , I always wondered where the camera event recorders were located. At 1:36.
Mike
I have the perfect spot in my basement for the HO model. Won't have anything else though!
excellent both videos, I really enjoyed, thanks .
unpasaro Thank you! And thanks for watching and commenting. I'm glad you enjoyed them.
Deryk ,where I can send you an email than over here ??
At 7:29 on the SD40-2 3222 I never realized the wind shield sloped out-word at the top as well.
Mike
Hey Mike, it's funny you mentioned that, I thought the same thing when I was climbing up. I never realized it.
Deryk
***** Wonder if it is just an NS thing?
Mike
Not sure, because I have never seen any models look like that.
*****
Hey Mike, I figured out why the windshield sloped out. It's a new 'Admiral Cab' upgrade performed by the shop.
***** I would have to assume for better deflection protection from flying objects.
Mike
Very nice. Thanks!
Jeff Miller Thanks Jeff!
do you work for them to get this tour which was nice to and how locos have changed with all the electronics great videos

SleeTheSloth Thanks! It was a very cool tour. Glad you liked them!
Ex conrail sd60e and ex southern high hood sd40-2 3222! The GP59E is a rebuild I think.. the sd60e is an ex conrail sd60m the road slug is a rebuild!
As for the Cars, all I can say is , it must be nice to be on the upper end of the food chain !!!!
Mike
I know right!
***** It looks like a luxury Motorhome with no slideouts.
Mike

Very awesome
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Deryk

Deryk
Great video Deryk, When will we be those number loco on your layout???
Bob, at Longshadowsmodeltree.com
That's a great idea Bob!
Wow this is so cool dude do they still do this on Memorial day for anybody
No they don't. Actually I was lucky enough to be given a ticket to this.
Great videos Deryk!! Is the layout a static display or does it operate?
Thanks!! It's just a static display.
Deryk
Yes awesome ty
Thank you and thanks for watching!
how can I get in for a tour.
This was during a special event. I'm not sure if they still do it.
Great video. I love the H O scale facility layout - that’s a huge place. I am taking it that “slug unit” is another term for the “B” unit. Is that right?
Nice motive power, but loved the OCS cars. Gives a feeling back to when train travel was something special and luxurious, Amtrak just doesn't do that.
How do you get to go to shop tours?
United Railfan Photos It was a special event held for employee appreciation. You needed a ticket to get it, which were given to employees for themselves and family. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a ticket.
The ho scale model, wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's awesome isn't it!
Hey, Deryk could you send me that layout, it would save me some time. Don't worry I'll pay for the postage. lol Those locos come out really nice when they are done. Great video.
Sorry, I have first dibs on the layout, hahahaha! Thanks again!
Deryk

I wonder how one of those bogeys weigh?
A lot!
Great tour but I found the music a distraction and took away some of the enjoyment for me.
