  • A bucket list fish for me is a spotted bass. I've never caught one and would love to add the species to my list of fish caught. Come along as Rudy and I cycle through different baits trying to entice a spot to bite in these cold March water conditions. What a beautiful lake to fish and I will be coming back. I'd like to give a big shout out to Preston Martins for introducing me to Cottage Grove Lake thru his RUclips channel where he catches some impressive spotted bass as well as a giant largemouth. Thanks for sharing, Martin!

    Moved up to Oregon from CA and I sure do miss going out for bass. Wish the Portland area had more lakes like down there. You just got a new sub. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Looking forward to more of your videos. BTW, Damian Thao is pronounced with a softer T sound.. like Tao.

    Good job buddy! Valiant effort on the bigger lake. Temperature wise obviously bigger water longer lake turnover, smaller water shorter lake turnover. This time of year, the smaller bodies of water like the ponds and what not are gonna be more productive than the bigger lakes until they get up to temp.

      Well said Tag. Cottage Grove is a bucket list lake for me so it was good to get out early and see it for myself. So many lakes so little time.

    I think the actively feeding fish you saw were in fact large Trout. When I say large, I mean 3lbs, and over. PS: I'd really like to know where that pond is ;-)

      Cottage Grove Lake which is known for big spotted bass and largemouth

      @@yakventures9544 I am well aware of the constituency of Cottage Grove Reservoir. I've fished it for over 40 years. As such, I can confidently state that the fish you were seeing on your graph were most likely large Trout feeding. Also, I was asking about the rather large pond you finished your day of fishing on....where was that?

      Thanks for the local information on the fish marks on my graph. I should have dropped down some jigging spoons. I had forgotten that I added that pond fishing at the end. That’s Ford’s Pond in Sutherlin.

      @@yakventures9544 Totally! A spoon, a spinner, or a small plug would have done it! If you watch my videos about Trout eating Bass, you'll see what I mean. Thanks for the info about the pond!

      @@yakventures9544 No joke, there are monster Trout in all of the lakes up here. I liken fishing bows on the flats in Dorena, and Cottage Grove to fishing for Bonefish. When they drain the lakes in the winter is the best time to go out for them, but you'll run into them when fishing plugs, and spinnerbaits throughout the rest of the year.

    All brands read a little different but its probably just where your transducer is mounted. Yours is probably a bit deeper than his.

      Thanks CW. Appreciate the insight. I’ve thought about bringing a temperature gauge to check against my transducer reading too.

    Are you going to head back to the Florence area?

      Eventually. I was hoping this weekend but I’m too sick to travel too far away right now. I’ve got a few more lakes in my radar that you’ll recognize that I won’t name when I get out there.

    I don’t think you’re doing much different than Preston Martin. I fished with him local to me at a pond last year and just was an average fisherman. He was explaining to me he was more frequent to fishing when he had a boat and looks like your spending a ton of time on the water. Persistence will pay off for you

      I sure miss Preston's videos. Tell him I said hi. Seeing him catch that 7 pound plus bass on a jig is etched in my brain every time I flip to a piece of wood. That's what dreams are made of.

    Why doesn't anyone like NATURAL SOUNDS anymore? They have to ruin their program with shitty music!

    • @yakventures9544
      @yakventures9544  2 месяца назад +1

      Content creation is always a work in progress. I’ve noticed folks like original sounds over musical selection because you’ll never please everyone. My newer videos have less music and more natural sounds. Hard to compete with natural crashing waves and gulls. Point taken. Thanks for comment.
