I remember when I stumbled upon “Erotic Cakes” and being completely captivated and bewildered by what I was hearing. A real milestone in my musical journey. Guthrie is definitely in the ranks of Holdsworth, Morse, DiMeola, E Johnson and the like.
I came to The Aristocrats first and then I discovered Erotic Cakes - it's really amazing. Folks, get that album in any way you can get it. You won't hardly find the original album on CD, at least for a reasonable price. But you won't hardly find a better purchase than a downloadable file for just a handful of bugs.
Guthrie Govan could stand in and emulate any guitarist on the planet. If iron maiden,pink floyd,dire straits,Eric Clapton,Steve Vai or Joe Satriani asked Guthrie to stand in for them at a concert,Guthrie would nail it.
Guthrie is sick beyond comprehension. He is the continuity of the likes of Shawn Lane and Allan Holdswort. Now, Max Ostro and Tom Quayle are just around the corner and about to reach that fifth dimension, too !
Guthrie and Matteo Mancuso are my two top new guys who added to my list of OMG players! I'd like to welcome them. They have joined an elite group. There's a ton of mentionables I see on RUclips that are INCREDIBLE, but they don't move me. These guys move me!
I really do not know much extraterrestrials. Allan Holdsworth (R.I.P.) was one of them. Moreover, of cause, Guthrie Govan, the man from another world! When I think about his galactic skills and, as a simple earthly person, I maltreat my guitar in the rehearsal room and ask myself: why? 🤣
It's hilarious that these people thing this playing is real. It's physically impossible to play all those notes that fast. The fingers and human brain just can't communicate and react as such speed. What's actually happening is the fact that these professional guitars contain an electronic brain. They are playing themselves. Then gullible guitar players see it and buy the guitars these players are promoting. It's all a money making exercise. Wake up people ffs!

Jesus on electric guitar. I've met Guthrie Govan three times. He's so humble and well spoken. He's just the full virtuoso package.

I really like Ner Ner and Slidey Boy. Not to say the others are bad, but these are the two I come back to the most on Erotic Cakes.
