Without wasting any more time, Spoiler warning ke sath, let’s begin the breakdown:
Logan, a worn-out and weakened Wolverine, wakes up in a rented limousine as thugs attempt to steal its tires. Struggling to fend them off, it's clear his healing powers are failing, a consequence of past injuries and age. This marks the start of James Mangold's "Logan," featuring Hugh Jackman in his final portrayal of the iconic character.
Set in 2029, mutants are nearly extinct. Logan, now a limo driver, cares for a deteriorating Professor X (Patrick Stewart) in an abandoned smelting plant. Logan's decline is evident as he limps and struggles with a weakened healing factor, exacerbated by adamantium poisoning. The film’s gritty tone is established early on when Logan savagely defends his car from the thugs.
Gabriela, a nurse from Transigen, pleads for Logan’s help to protect a young girl named Laura (Dafne Keen). Laura, later revealed to be Logan’s daughter created from his DNA, exhibits similar mutant abilities, including retractable claws. Gabriela’s video exposes Transigen's brutal experiments on mutant children, leading to their escape.
The Reavers, led by the cybernetic-enhanced Donald Pierce (Boyd Holbrook), relentlessly hunt Logan, Laura, and Xavier. The trio narrowly escape numerous attacks, showcasing intense and visceral action sequences that highlight Logan's declining condition. Caliban (Stephen Merchant), a mutant who can track other mutants, is tortured by the Reavers to locate them.
Throughout their journey, Logan grapples with the reality of Laura's existence and his role as her protector. The group heads toward a mythical mutant safe haven called Eden, a location inspired by Laura's X-Men comics. The film poignantly juxtaposes moments of brutal violence with tender father-daughter dynamics.
In a climactic confrontation, Logan battles his clone, X-24, a perfect, younger, and more vicious version of himself. The encounter results in the death of Professor X and severe injuries to Logan. Laura ultimately defeats X-24, but not before Logan sustains fatal wounds. In his final moments, Logan experiences a sense of peace, recognizing Laura as his legacy.
"Logan" is a raw and emotional farewell to the Wolverine saga, exploring themes of redemption, family, and mortality. With stunning performances, especially by Jackman and Keen, and a gripping narrative, it stands as a poignant and powerful conclusion to Wolverine’s journey.
