Doyoung is an ACE. He can even rap and it sounds heavenly too (one of his covers)….I love everything about him. I realize he’s not a natural dancer and rapper, but he works hard at doing all of it well, and he slays it every time.
Its still so crazy to me the nct u lineup for volcano is the ICONIC nct u Boss lineup since nct u doesn't usually repeat an entire lineup but they had such an impact back in 2018 that they HAD to make another song with that same lineup
Just like with Empathy in 2018 where Yestoday had no competition, Light Bulb on Resonance is hands down my favorite song off this album. The vibe is immaculate the rap hits hard and is emotional and the vocals are heavenly, add the beautiful lyrics and you’ve got a masterpiece. They all did what needed to be done when they went into that studio 👏🏾👏🏾

"Volcano" is my favorite song of the album, "BOSS" unit killed it again to me! Also,I love that when Taeyong is in writing and pairs it with an old school hip hop style it always just gives us emotions, and he always has his bestie (Doyoung) as the singer for when he does this. "Dancing In the Rain" is pretty cool with all the styles it has in it. And yes Johnny rapping, singing, adlibs, and not afraid to get wild with those adlibs is just great!

Resonance has such great variety and range, so many good songs. It's that variety that is at the base of my love for NCT. I wish you could've seen the impact that Boss had back in 2018 (I am sure you can imagine). Other idols and industry professionals spoke about the song so much and how they admired it. It was a real moment and we were all so excited to see the same line up again on another song, this time a song that is a little more fun and dance-y and I listen to it all the time. So lovely to hear another version of Taeyong's song get released as Light Bulb. Another adaptation of his work used to introduce a new rapper like Lucas is on Yestoday. Tyong's songs always combine meaning and emotional intensity with a musical journey. I squealed to hear Sungchan really shine here, it gave us such a great glimpse of his potential. Yes! The rain transition to Dancing in the Rain is such a great experience when you are just listening to the album straight through. (I am old and I almost always listen to an album beginning to end in the order it was set up. ;) It was a real pleasure too to see Johnny, Yuta and others get space to show their vocals/raps etc. on the various songs on this album. I have theories about Winwin's place in songs but I usually don't mention it because people get cranky. And yup, we don't have enough information to speak authoritatively about the situation. My biggest question is what the WayV track on the upcoming album is going to look/sound like since Lucas and Winwin are not listed in the line up right now?? Every time NCT put out a big combined project like this it is so exciting because you just don't know what you are going to get from new line ups to song styles. Such fun! ;)

Thank you for this, Caitlin! Being older and having parents who were alive during the first half of the 20th century, I thought the intro and closing of "Dancing in the Rain" sounded familiar. To me, it sounds like an early jazz song from the 1930's. It even has that tinny sound like it's being played from an old-timey radio!
Light Bulb is so good and one of my favorites, but the thing I hate is SM didn’t credit Taeyong at all even though he wrote the song and they changed the meaning to a romance instead of how Taeyong originally wrote it as a way to express some difficult emotions he was dealing with at a hard time in his life. So, this special song was essentially taken from him :(
