I will be 60 years old in October. I remember dancing and Roller skating to this song many times in my Youth. In reunions my Class of 1982 still dance to this song.
This song was a sort of an anthem in the 70’s as it was used in a popular commercial for ABC (American Broadcasting Company). Instantly puts me back at that time in the late 70’s.
Great song! Orleans were a pop rock band & had their biggest hits in the 70's with "Still The One", "Dance With Me", "Love Takes Time", "Let There Be Music" & "Reach".
Ah the sweet harmonized dual guitar solo and background fills. A bunch of 70's groups had that element going on, but not something that you see too much anymore. Fantastic vocal harmonies. So good! 😊
omg! I always think of that too with this song!! it's funny how those commercials and jingles and such get into your head and ultimately your psyche somehow! thanks for posting!
This song charted on the Billboard Hot 100 on July 31, 1976 and it peeked at number 5 and took 18 weeks on the chart; I was in High School when this song was being played on the radio.
I was at a wedding where Larry Hoppen was a guest. Almost everyone there was a musician. Larry was asked to sing and he sang this song and everyone said "no that song sucks." They were teasing because it was such a successful hit. A friend of my husband was the drummer for Orleans until the early 80s.
That’s awesome. I’m a lead guitarist and have been playing for over 60 years and in bands most of my life. Orleans is one of the most underrated bands of all time. The band I was in during the 70’s did Let there be Music. Some of their best songs are album tracks that never had air play.
That's just how deep the pool of musical talent was in the 70s--Orleans is a much lesser known band, yet the quality was still top tier! Please check out their hit song "Dance With Me" next.
Nice reaction you two, as usual! Another great group from the 70's you would love is the fantastic Blood Sweat and Tears! Try "Spinning Wheel" or "Go Down Gambling"!!!
John Hall from this band became a congressman from New York. Also had a solo career. His song 'Crazy' made the rounds on early MTV. He's a decent guitar player, too.
This Band didnt have a ton of hits but the 2 they had are seminal 70's classics! Glad you guys liked it. The Midnight Special live version of Dance With Me is fantastic.
This was one of those songs I heard a million times on the radio while growing up, but I never knew who it was. A great, bop-your-head-and-sing-along tune.
My father's band southern cross opened for them and they got humbled. Southern cross was one of the best bands in the tri state area in the 70s and 80s at the gig sc's manager tore up their set list and said play this one and they played practically bombed and orleans was as they were on record you heard them live
Not only did this top the charts but it became so famous for several years in the mid-to-late 1970s as the ABC network promotional theme song for the new fall season.
This song was such a big hit when it came out that ABC used it on the commercials advertising their fall tv schedule, changing it to "you're still having fun and we're still the one".
Yes. That's when ABC was the #1 network in the country. When their Tuesday Night line-up consisted of "Happy Days," "LaVerne & Shirley," "Three's Company" and other shows on different nights. Also, one of my TV Specials, "Battle Of The Network Stars" with Howard Cosell.
3:35 "Obviously, Love Song Vibes" Yeah, that's true, Phil. This is definitely one of those songs that you'd be very likely to hear someone playing at a reception for a married couple who's renewed their wedding vows
"Dance With Me" is an obvious choice but, when I want to hear Orleans, I also play "Spring Fever", "Let There Be Music", "Sweet Destiny", "Reach" and the lesser-known ballad "If I Don't Have You": all uplifting songs from an Upstate New York band.
This group played at my fraternity at Cornell and many appearances at the North Forty. Met my wife at one of these parties and, you guessed it, she is still the one.
Written by John and Johanna Hall. The lyrics came to Johanna while doing laundry. Lead vocals Larry Hoppen rip. Those fabulous harmony guitars by John Hall (former congressman from New York).
OThe only time I saw people singing this song in grocery stores, everywhere, even in parking lots!!! By Pure Prairie League. Record . Elderly people, women, and men and its name is Aime ! Happy song!!😊
This was a fun sing.. Released in 1976 and reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 (#9 in Canada) . Still a very classy song today! Some Trivia for You: John McCain used the song in his 2008 presidential campaign...
ABC used this song to promote their network from 1977 to 1979. They used it on the promotions for all their new upcoming shows. You can see the commercials here on RUclips. My sister had the album this was originally from (Waking and Dreaming) where they all pose shirtless and it always made me giggle because one of the guys seemed to be pointing to one of the other guy's nipples.
Listen to the band LaRoux from Louisiana. They had some hits-New Orleans Lady, Take a Ride on a Riverboat, Slow Burn, I Can’t Do One More Two Step. Gail
GINO VANNELLI - " Love & Emotion " ~ " One Night With You " ~ " Feel Like Flying " 1970s YACHT ROCK CLASSICS with TONS of GROOVE and SOUND very different and very creative songs about Love anf the Emotions that come with it. Very well written Lyrics with Heart and Soul. Ever song featured here has an absolutely Amazing beginning and when it ends they just keep you engaged the whole time. FIRE SONGS 🎸🎹💯🔥🔥🔥 🎤 Gino's Vocals are Spectacular. Groovy BASS & DRUM/KEYS / GUITAR GROOVES

I remember ABC using it as a season promo
@@utcnc7mm If I remember correctly, the actors from all their popular shows got together and filmed a video to this song.
@@markhodge7 sounds right, I remember Lee Majors (The Six Million Dollar Man) being in it
Yes, I believe that’s right. For at least a couple of years running back when they were winning the ratings war. Good times!
Yes, ABC had this song on routinely as a promo back in the day.
Another great song from a kick ass '70's group...Great pick, guys...Keep Being Awesome !!!...
Great song! Orleans were a pop rock band & had their biggest hits in the 70's with "Still The One", "Dance With Me", "Love Takes Time", "Let There Be Music" & "Reach".
Rock on 70s Brat
36 years married, still our song. Can't stand more than a couple hours without her.
Ah the sweet harmonized dual guitar solo and background fills. A bunch of 70's groups had that element going on, but not something that you see too much anymore. Fantastic vocal harmonies. So good! 😊
ABC used this for a jingle of the 1977-1978 tv season. Good times. Good memories
omg! I always think of that too with this song!! it's funny how those commercials and jingles and such get into your head and ultimately your psyche somehow! thanks for posting!

Great band Dance with Me is brilliant
If this could be an anniversary song I think you might also like 'Dance With Me' which could be a wedding song.
Dance with me is another great tune from this group. It’s my favorite that they did.
Yet another song that encapsulates my memories of the decade that as the sunny, easy & breezy 1970s.
I would say "Dance with Me" would be my favorite from them.
That's just how deep the pool of musical talent was in the 70s--Orleans is a much lesser known band, yet the quality was still top tier!
Please check out their hit song "Dance With Me" next.
Great choice. One of my favorites! I always turn the radio up in the car. 😊
Nice reaction you two, as usual! Another great group from the 70's you would love is the fantastic Blood Sweat and Tears! Try "Spinning Wheel" or "Go Down Gambling"!!!

The title song from that vinyl, "Dance With Me" is epic in itself.
GREAT song. Takes me back and puts a smile on my face.
Me 2 70s fun ALL the waaaaaay
I agree. The 70's probably had the most cheerful and happy songs of any decade ever.

Sweet loving connection between you two.
Great song. Been a wedding reception song since I can remember.
This song was written by a married couple. :)
Another beautiful anniversary song is Neil Young's "Harvest Moon".
I LOVED THIS WHEN IT CAME OUT AND STILL LOVE IT!!!! IM A HOPELESS ROMANTIC!!!
Great song. Up beat and positive. Great harmonies.
These guys were immensely talented. Check out "Dance With Me", "Forever", and "Love Takes Time"
This is my favorite song by them
Loves takes Time
Dance With Me is even better.
OMG, I haven't heard this song since I was a kid!

@@seanswinton6242 Oh yeah I loved all those shows, including "Battle"
In the 70's and 80's ABC used the chorus of this song as their theme for years .
The vocals...d@mn.
Lots of nostalgia from this one, hearing it first as probably a ten year old kid in the seventies
I recommend Dance with me
3:35
"Obviously, Love Song Vibes"
Yeah, that's true, Phil.
This is definitely one of those songs that you'd be very likely to hear someone playing at a reception for a married couple who's renewed their wedding vows
Always loved this song. Love your reaction.
We have been married 45 years and we’ve always liked this song!
my husband of 41 yrs enjoys this song so much!
Monster hit growing up in the 70's ...was on the radio constantly
Love this song! RIP to Larry Hoppen, the lead singer for most of their hits.
Or-Leans is how it is pronounced. This was my late Aunt Joan & Uncle Jim’s song 🎶
One of my favorites
this song was adopted as the ABC Network theme song in 1976
Great band from the greatest era of music.
This group played at my fraternity at Cornell and many appearances at the North Forty. Met my wife at one of these parties and, you guessed it, she is still the one.
It's a great song for all the things you both touched upon. Loved your reactions!
The Flaming Lips "Do You Realize" ❤
John Hall had a solo hit with "Crazy" back in 1980 or so, and after retiring from music became a New York congressman for many years!
My wife and I have been together since 1987. She's still the one for me.
Classic, great pick and so catchy, definate head bopper.
Love this group...take a look and a listen to "love takes time"
Written by John and Johanna Hall. The lyrics came to Johanna while doing laundry. Lead vocals Larry Hoppen rip. Those fabulous harmony guitars by John Hall (former congressman from New York).

Great song. Orleans other real big hit was "Dance With Me"
As a happily married couple you’ve gotta listen to their other song “Dance with me”
Just as big a hit and it’ll remind you of joyful times
Classic summer song! Now give Loggins & Messina’s song “Vahevala” a listen !!!
I second this! Great song.
The group Orleans song.... Love Takes Time.... is their most popular hit by far! Play that song & give it a reaction!
One of my all-time favorite songs! I would LOVE for you to react to Jess Glynne's "Hold My Hand" and "I'll Be There"
Something of a deep cut from them is "Let There Be Music"... one of my favorites that has a vibe similar to early Doobie Brothers.
This song was used as the theme song for and ABC TV season in the mid 70's.
Dance With Me is good too, but this is my favorite of theirs.
This was a fun sing.. Released in 1976 and reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 (#9 in Canada) . Still a very classy song today!
Some Trivia for You: John McCain used the song in his 2008 presidential campaign...

Back in the day, they were or-LEENS.
This is a big time song, so you chose wisely. o-)

That is such an iconic 70s album cover! LOL Great song!
I saw them do this in concert many, many years ago. It sounded just as good as the studio version....but with more reverb. 🤣
Listen to the band LaRoux from Louisiana. They had some hits-New Orleans Lady, Take a Ride on a Riverboat, Slow Burn, I Can’t Do One More Two Step. Gail
Another group along the same lines is a band called Bond, "Dancing On A Saturday Night"

“I Just Wanna Stop”, “Living Inside Myself”, “Appaloosa”,and “Storm at Sunup” are some good ones.
1970's CBS theme song. I remember fondly.
They remind of Chicago/ Doobie Brothers like Vibe.
Remember ABC network adopted this song for their upcoming fall season in 1976?
Long time since I`ve heard this one!
A lot of nicve guitar work and double leads as well
