My new favorite whisky channel and I'm mostly a single malt guy, just dipping my toes into bourbon but its hard to get anything interesting where I live. P.s. Jamie's (spelling?) smile and charming demeanor is such a welcoming addition to your knowhow and expert palate. Keep posting the wonderful videos. Greetings from Iceland
Great channel by the way. I’m barely 50 and just now getting into whiskey. I don’t have a whole lot of knowledge of what’s “good” but I was given a bottle of Woodford Reserve rye and really like it.
Early times bib, old granddad bib, Ezra brooks 90, Jim beam devils cut, knob creek 9, Davies county, 1792 small batch, four roses small batch, bulleit, makers mark, larceny…. So many good options under $36
Old Grand dad Bonded and Woodford Reserve are my go to every day sippers. I love Woodford bottles in general and Old Grandad Bonded is one of the best values on the market. Sub $30 but drinks like a $50+ bottle. I've had most of the bottles in the video and Old Grandad Bonded is far better than all of them in my opinion. I need to revisit Elijah Craig Small batch though. I remember enjoying the EC quite a bit.
Knob Creek 9 at $33 would be my choice right now if I was a daily drinker. Would test a Wild Turkey 101 at $25 but I really like Rare Breed at $50 in the Wild Turkey line up.
Knob Creek 12 year is amazing 👏. Knob Creek 7 year is amazing....for cleaning your tools after an oil change or for removing old paint from your patio furniture 🤮
A couple of weeks ago I went to five liquor stores in my area of Georgia. I was unable to find Cooper's Craft 100, I asked each store manager about the possibility of ordering some. They contacted their distributor (I don't know whether they all use the same distributor) and all were told that the distributor can NOT get any. In all of 2024 I was only able to buy Cooper's Craft 100 three times. I find it to be similar to Woodford Reserve Double Oaked at a much better price. As to the Benchmark line, my personal choice is the Bonded (100 proof) at $19.99 I find it to be the best value in bourbon and I really enjoy it taste.
Fun review, thanks. I like seeing the budget/available bottles. I'd have like to see how the Jim Beam Winter Reserve fit in. Keep up the great content, thanks for sharing.
For winter, I like the 100 proof Early Times. Other rebuys are the 100 proof Old Grand-Dad, 100 proof Coopers' Craft, and 90 proof Bernheim Original Wheat Whiskey. To go up to $40, the Green River Full Proof regular $50 on sale now.
Good blind. Our friends from CA were paying a visit 6 months ago and brought up 4 bottles of EC Small Batch that were on sale for $21.50! I just cracked the 4th bottle a few nights ago. Love OF 100 and Coop 100, but also KC 9 and ET BiB. I'll also add Rittenhouse Rye 100, great mixer.
Love the video ... however, I would have to include OGD bonded and/or OGD 114. Both are good values, available, and bring a slightly different flavor profile than your choices.
My daily sippers: WL Weller Special Reserve, Buffalo Trace, Four Roses Small Batch, Ben Holladay Soft Red Wheat BiB, Redemption Wheated, Bardstown Origin Wheated, Tincup Fourteener. Old Elk Wheated Bourbon is also great, just a tad overpriced. While most aren't under $36 per 750ml bottle, they're high value for their price with a great sweet flavor profile. I'd definitely recommend y'all try a blind with some of those. :)
OF100, Coopers Craft, EC are my three favorite under 100P or lower bottles. Can also include Larceny in there. All these are usually easy to find except the Coopers Craft.
I have only been able to try 4 of these and my order would be #1-WR #2-ECSB #3-OF100 #4-WT101. It does not surprise me because my pallet is usually closer to Jamie's is. That OF100 is a very good poor for right around $25 in my area. I am able to get WR in a 1.75L bottle on sale for under $60 quite often so that is a no brainer for me when I can. I would love to be able to score some of the CC and BMFP at some point as they were Jamie's #1 and #5.
Not sure if it’s the same for y’all but in my area benchmark full proof is about $27? Great flavor for a $27 bottle. Love my single barrel as well! Awesome video.
A few of my faves usually under $36: Maker's Mark 46, OGD 114/Bonded, Knob Creek 9, Four Roses Small Batch, Larceny, Johnnie Walker Black Label. And if you can find it at that price, Evan Williams Single Barrel is pretty dang good.
When I can get Knob Creek 9 year and Russell’s Reserve 10 year for $33, why do distillers and blenders think I’m gonna pay a premium for their product?
Wellers special reserve, $27. Old grand dad BIB and 114 $30 and under Early times bonded, $25 Evan Williams single Barrel $37 Travelers $37 These are my daily drinkers and current prices. Always keep these in stock in my bar at home.
I liked this format guys! My flavor profile normally aligns with Jamie's, however, today, it seems as though I'm leaning towards David's. I would have probably picked Elijah Craig #1 also, although I have never tried Cooper's Craft 100 (not available in Michigan) .
Glad to see that you are alive Jaime, you were a bit tipsy last night, very entertaining, glad to see both of you together, some tense moments. Love that you did every day sippers, the 1783 is just ok, impressed that you guys got the BT flavors in Benchmark, love the OF100, WT101, Woodford, Elijah Craig, never had Coopers, can't find it here in Illinois. Picked up a 1.75 liter of one of my favorite every day sippers that I pour for first times, Buffalo Trace.
I'd have to throw Knob Creek 9 year small batch in there too. Though the retail might be a couple bucks over your cut off, I see it on sale a lot and it's also a regular item at Costco for like $51 for a 1.75 liter.
For bottles under $36... the only bottles I really care about are: 1) Jim Beam Black 7 2) Wild Turkey 101 3) Elijah Craig Small Batch 4) Old Grand Dad 114 5) Old Forrester 100
@@TruthOverLies I absolutely would... but Buffalo Trace is pretty hard to find in my market. When I see it, I buy it... same with Eagle Rare. But I was thinking of easy to find on the shelf stuff for less than $36.
I usually enjoy your videos but it was something about the way that Jamie kept looking way up and just smiling hard that was quite distracting. It just really didn't look natural
Not quite sure what you mean. It’s freezing in the speakeasy, so I was shivering, maybe that’s why I seem off 🤷🏼♀️. Anyhow appreciate your feedback. Definitely keep it in mind for next time.
Buffalo Trace is a bit thin to be a sipper. Great for Old Fashioneds. By most accounts the Benchmark is the same juice and they have a whole lineup of BiB, Full Proof, and Single Barrel options. Just not available in all areas. Like mine :(
@@ericepperson8409 200% disagree. The whole concept of a daily sipper, is cheap enough to drink regularly, easy to drink, approachable, and not so high a proof it takes the toll higher Alcohol content takes. Benchmark is the same Distiller and Mash Bills, but aged differently (and shorter, different shelves, Rics, etc). Not the same really at all. Full Proof, BIB means higher proofs, and, imho negates the above qualities. At east half of "The Row" is a bit of a Proof Snob. Lastly, lower proof ius the LAST thing to use in a cocktail, as it is easier to lose it's flavor in the cocktail.

Nice collection in the background dude 👍

Good timing on this subject! I decided I’m not chasing anything this year, so if it’s on the ABC shelf here in VA and under $100, I’ll give it a go.
Early times bib, old granddad bib, Ezra brooks 90, Jim beam devils cut, knob creek 9, Davies county, 1792 small batch, four roses small batch, bulleit, makers mark, larceny…. So many good options under $36

I thought the same. Need to revisit ec. My first bottle, I gave it a low score.
I also like old grandad 114

That Coopers Craft is my favorite of these as well, followed by the Woodford.

Agree with Jamie on the Coopers. Quite rich.
Are they still bottling them?
I've never seen a Coopers' on the shelf but a lot of people say it's thin. It could be rich but still thin.

Wellers special reserve, $27.

I like an Old Tub bonded as a cheap bottle … as one that wasn’t mentioned.
I really enjoy Cooper’s Craft 100, sadly, I haven’t seen it on a shelf anywhere for months.
I think I have heard Brown-Forman is going to take those barrels in the new old Forrester 😢
It’s everywhere in Ohio, one of my favorite daily sippers.
I love a bunch of these. I'd ad Larceny Small Batch and JW Dant BIB
I'd have to throw Knob Creek 9 year small batch in there too. Though the retail might be a couple bucks over your cut off, I see it on sale a lot and it's also a regular item at Costco for like $51 for a 1.75 liter.
Yeah in the last year I've seen the 750ml KC9 climb down from about $42 to $33ish in most stores.
Great show, but I'll take 1792 small batch over all of these. Cheers!
I love OF1910 and 1920. Going to have to try the 100. I assume there isn’t a good reason to buy the 1897 if it’s good?
Isn’t Coopers Craft like super hard to find now? It’s one of my favorite bottles but can’t find it in Atlanta anymore
It’s everywhere in Ohio, one of my favorite daily sippers.
No Early Times?
I may have to revisit EC Small batch. I loved the mouth feel for the proof but found it lacking in flavor compared to others in it's range.
CC100 hits a bit hot for me and I also don't care for WT 101. My go to sipper right now is JB 7 Black, but I also like Early Times BiB.
Blue Note Juke Joint for $30.99 is really good for an everyday sipper.
I haven’t seen coopers craft on the shelves in 8 months when I bought two bottles and gave one to my son. He drank his and I’m afraid to open mine
For bottles under $36... the only bottles I really care about are:
1) Jim Beam Black 7
2) Wild Turkey 101

Woodford Reserve & Wild Turkey 101 on this list
Old fo 100
Coopers craft 100
Evan small batch especially veterans edition
Jim beam black 7
Knob 9
Green river black label
Early times
you should open your bottles. Just collecting is fun I guess but the bottles should be opened.
I really like 1783. It’s 6-8 yrs (rumored) so not that young.
CC100 discontinued 😢😢😢
1783 got me into bourbon but going back is sad because it’s super lacking in anything special..
Early on 1783 seemed okay but last time I picked up a bottle was getting a hay note.
I only use 1783 as a mixer, I'd rather sip something above like WT 101 or Larceny.
After the live I can’t watch you guys anymore, I t get upset over Whiskey, smh
