      I never liked Westbrook as a player and his teammates helped him get those triple doubles. I seen his big man’s go up the court and let him get a lot of those rebounds. And his turnovers always been high and shooting percentage has been average at best. 20 shots for 20 points type of stats. Dude does play hard tho maybe too hard🤷🏽‍♂️, so… my answer would be yes but no if that makes any since. *(Manufacturing stats)*

    The only reason Russ got those triple doubles is primarily because he only passed the ball in late clock situations where his teammates had to shoot the ball which over the course of his 33 or so minutes per game would easily equate to 10 assists and his teammates were actively allowing him to get rebounds they could have easily gotten themselves, especially when he lined up at the forward position on free throws. How many times did Steven Adams box out but not jump? He was chasing these stats, winning and team chemistry be damned. Here's hoping that the HOF voters have enough sense to not let this guy in, at least not as a "slam dunk first ballot". More deserving guys have had to wait longer.

      That's literally just Steven Adam's playstyle, he always goes for screens instead of individual rebounds. Adams did the same thing when he was on the pelicans and now grizzlies. The fact that Russ averages 8-11 rebounds no matter what center he plays with should tell you he's actually just an incredible rebounder. He's a great passer too, if you look closer, his assist:turnover ratio is usually higher than Steph Curry's. Yes he holds onto the ball too long sometimes but the "late clock situations" you speak of is just him getting the ball to the most open shooter on the floor and being like, "if I pass you the ball, shoot it." Prime Russ was a solid facilitator.
      Russ has his flaws but to say he's not a 1st ballot HOFer is ridiculous. We're talking about THE most athletic PG of all time. He is also one of the greatest floor-raisers ever. He gets deserved criticism because he's an awful ceiling-raiser. If you want to carry a bad team to the playoffs, he's your guy. Just surround him with 4 solid shooters and you have yourself an 8th seed. If you want to turn a playoff team into a championship team, he's absolutely not the guy.

    People often mention his winrate when getting a triple double in the regular season, but did you know that his win rate when getting a triple double in the playoffs is just 50%? So not much value there for his triple doubles correlating to winning in the playoffs. On the other hand, did you know that Russ is 26-12 in the playoffs when shooting 45% FG (league average for the past 20 years) or better? So clearly there's a lot of value in him being efficient in the playoffs, and a lot of detriment to the team when he's not efficient in the playoffs, and we all know which way he usually is, considering he's shot 45% FG or better in the playoffs in only 34% of his playoff games (38 out of 111 games).
    Just because humans are randomly mesmerized for some reason by something as arbitrary as double digits doesn't mean it holds so much value. just because it’s on the number “10” and not on “9” or “11” doesn’t mean it's so amazing. Let me ask this, is a 10/10/10 game so much more valuable than a 9/9/9 game? So if you're into something as arbitrary as double digits for surface level numbers, then you'll be impressed by Westbrook. If you're more impressed by things that require getting more in depth into the game, whether it's with numbers or with your eyes, then you'll see it's not all that great. For example, what Jokic accomplished this season is actually far more impressive than averaging a triple double.

The criticism and scrutiny this season thoroughly shook him and played a part in his actual retrogression as the season progressed. He was better in the first half of the season than in the last half of it. He will be defiant. While he might not admit publicly to his flaws, he knows that much or most of the criticism is true, and he will work well on significantly reducing his flaws and being a better team player.

    Russell Westbrook has for the last 6 or 7 years been playing a different game than everybody else - just happens to be on the same court. Everyone else is playing a game where a win happens when the points your team accumulates is greater than your opponent’s points. He plays a game where he wins if he gets double digit stats in three categories. Team win/loss didn’t matter. Play-off success didn’t matter. He even said - championships don’t matter. He’s pursued the ultimate side quest and mastered it while ignoring the overall objective of the game. It’s the one thing he can do better than any others, and because other ballers can’t do it, they find it impressive and also think he’s great for it. But that’s all it is, is a very hard side quest. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • @rainhos11

    So please explain skip why does he win 75% of the games he had a triple double. If that doesn't help to win shouldn't it be below 50% IN WINS
    Stop hating man. There is no point guard besides Curry and CP3 that deserves more to go into the HoF than Westbrook. Personally I think that Russ would've easily won a chip with klay, draymong and KD but that's just me. The disrespect needs to stop.

      Melo is 8 in scoring, I think, but other than that he doesn't have much. He was never 1st team all nba, like Russ he didn't help his teams, and wasn't much of an all around player. That's why guys like Stephen A called him a superstar scorer. Lol, it's kind of a backhanded compliment.

    just like the manufacture of boy bands, the "legacy" of Russell Westbrook is also manufactured...just as other commenters have stated, his teammates actively helped in allowing Westbrook to get rebounds, his ability to drive and dish would naturally provide assists and layups should provide points despite poor shooting...so the media manufactured Westbrook into an MVP...and now, this player will going to the HOF...shameful.

    The smartest thing Westbrook could do is become a Rondo/ Rodman hybrid and not look to score anymore=just rebounds and assists and take 4 shots a game...breakaway dunks only...If he did he would become the most beloved figure in the wnba...But he won't.

      @ThrifterGuy 2 года назад

      @@brentw0681 No offense to anyone but Rhondo and Rodman are two of the smartest players to ever play in the nba. Russ couldn't be either one even if he tried. Skip Bayless may have some odd takes sometimes but he's right. Westbrook has the worst hands of any point guard he's ever seen. So if u wanna pad stats and not win then Russ is ok. But if u wanna win he doesn't have the basketball iq or intangibles.
