Gina this was so helpful. I have tried to understand scale for years by watching others but for some reason I could not absorb the info. This makes perfect sense and learning that a 1/12 scale ruler exist makes it even more logical. I’m buying a 1/12 scale ruler. Thank you for a great video, you made my day.
Hi Lucy, thank you, and you are right everyone has their own way of making sense of scale. I am glad that it helped you and that ruler is the best thing that I have bought 🤩 you won't regret getting one.
Great explanation! 1/4 scale is so tiny! I appreciate you making the different doors to show each scale. Really helps put the size in perspective. They were really cute.
How it happens that for two years I search for dolls' house sites and just found you in a round-about way? So glad I have done. Subscribed, of course. This is a helpful video and I know I will be binge-watching you now.
Hi - it's called a mitre box and saw - like this one www.amazon.com/35-241-35-550-Aluminum-014-Inch-Cutting/dp/B000BRBZYC/ref=sr_1_3?crid=18IVU5TNBHHGG&keywords=mitre+box+and+saw+miniature&qid=1685337767&sprefix=mitre+box+and+saw+miniatu%2Caps%2C293&sr=8-3 Hope that helps.
Excellent explanation; should be helpful to many. However, you did repeat one very common error in expression of the terminology. When we are talking 1:24 (or 1:48 or whatever), we must say 1/2-INCH scale, not just 1/2 scale. Very different scales, very big opportunity for confusion. As I said, a very common error. I am new to RUclips but not to minis and am making my way through your playlist. So many great projects! And I love seeing Loki! Thanks for all.
Hi Teresa, great question, one thing I didn't go into was dividing the number to get the scale. For example if you have something that is 36 inches in real life, you can divide that by 12 (in 12 scale) to get the equivalent in dollhouse scale. So 36"/12=3" for yours it would be 36"/18=2" does that help?
Hi, mine is from my miniature club here in New Zealand, but I have seen ones similar on Etsy. Hope that helps, I really should have a shop for these things, hmmm now there is an idea 🙂
I think you and your designs are brilliant. So thrilled to have found you.
Thank you for being so thorough 😊

Finally I’m able to figure out other scales besides 1:12 . Thanks for making it understandable.
Thank you for this great tutorial on scales!
I love the tiny scales 1:48, 1:144 and 1:288 so thanks for this
I just found your account and am so thrilled! Thank you so much for taking the time to make such interesting and informative videos of your work.
That worked really well for me, thanks for the clear explanation.
Thank you for the all the information. I have such trouble figuring out scale. Since I make mostly fantasy dioramas I eyeball scale a lot 😊
Hi Lesley, you are so welcome! 😊 it can be quite tricky indeed and everyone has their own way of navigating it.
I was working on 1:12 scale, now I'm trying 1:24 with my skeletons house. Thanks a lot for some tips.
Soooo tiny ...good work Gina..❤
Olá, parabéns pelo trabalho. Muito caprichoso... qual o nome da ferramenta que você usa para serrar a madeira?

Hi Fran, yes you are right, I should have said Half Inch scale and Quarter Inch scale thank you for picking that one up. And Loki is such a cutie! 😊
I am working on 1/16 or 1/18 any tips for that? 😂 I loved the break down ❣️

@@GinasMiniatureStudio yes that helps a lot Thank you ❣️
There's like one person who does that scale here on RUclips LoL and sometimes she doesn't give measurements thank you again ❣️
I am really struggling to suss out how to replicate an actual room...the calculation looks way too big 😢
Try working with centimeters and millimeters
Omg theres no way i can do that math.
I'll stick with the metric system so much easier. Just divide your measurement by the scale you want.
That ruler 📏 is great may I ask where you got it???
