Cuz like. He had arguably the best #9 and the greatest player to ever live both ready to throw away their stats and recognition for the season to ensure he got the award he deserved, and he threw that away to go to a team he didn’t even like and hated being on.
You have a point but look at it this way: they are on record having said that. As for his fitness and discipline at clubs, he is the only one to blame. He fought away the injuries so many times and came back multiple times but the disciplinary issues, I cannot defend.

Neymar was never "outshined" by Mbappe. For the first 4 years he played there he was ARGUABLY the best player in the team. He literaly carried PSG to the champions league final in 2021 and if they had won it he would get the Ballon dor that year (since Bayern won, Lewandowski got the ballon dor).
He just started to fell of in his last 2 years for PSG and that's natural because of the injuries.
The only problems he had in his career were the injuries, a healthy Neymar was ALWAYS at least top 3 in the world.

The whole thing about them putting Messi on the headlines for the Remontada is BULLSHIT. Everyone credited Neymar. Yes, that pic of Messi became iconic but everyone knew and acknowledged Neymar's role. He left Barca because he wanted more money and wanted to be the center of attention. And unfortunately for him, PSG brought Mbappe and crashed his hopes. He caused his own downfall.

The teenage Neymar hype back then was like the Wemby hype these last few years. We all knew he was destined to be the next best thing. He was already a top 10 best player in the world at like 19 while playing in Brazil, in an era where we still had that Spain superteam, an under-25 Messi and Ronaldo, Zlatan, Rooney, etc. True World Class type players that were in their prime. I still think he chose the wrong team in Barcelona. He should’ve gone to AC Milan/Juventus/Chelsea and been the main man from the beginning of his European career. His entire time at Barcelona was underrated, under appreciated, and under Messi’s shadow. Yeah he won everything there, but as Robin to Messi’s Batman. And with the amount of hype and talent he had, being Robin wasn’t what was expected of him. It’s as if Wemby goes to the Mavs and spends 5 years there and wins two chips with Luka but never MVP/DPOY/FMVP and only makes All NBA teams. Like yeah he’s great, but with the hype and talent he should be a perennial MVP and FMVP candidate and THEE GUY.
