Social media has always been a scary thing to me, but there was a point where I was comfortable enough to upload a lot of my memories on my Instagram every other day. 'Friends' or classmates kept taunting me with "you upload too much". I stopped since that day but this video has definitely motivated me to use social media how I want to!
I feel that. Someone close to me told me I was too obsessed with my characters and art. I stopped pursuing art for almost 2 decades. Words seem to strike deep when we are young, and one thing that is important no matter the age: If they are toxic in your life, you are better off without them, because if they won't let you be you... Then you aren't really yourself anymore, but what THEY want you to be. And thats not worth it.
Aww 🥺 this makes me so sad knowing their words affected you like that. Some times people are just jealous of what you’re doing and instead of being supportive, they try tearing you down. I’m glad you’re starting to feel comfortable with the idea of posting again ❤
that’s why i made an entirely different acc just for my artworks, once a classmate discovered my old art acc since i connected it with my phone number (big mistake) so i couldn’t bring myself to post there anymore and deleted that acc too xD now i have a new one free from anyone close to me and it’s been great, no pressure from people close to me irl :)
You should not feel scared to use social media, nor do you need to care for others opinions. Who cares what they think you should do. They should focus in their own businesses, since it seems they have a lot time on their hand. On the other hand, its is better to not let people know everything about your life. Not because it isn't nice to share, but you never know who is seeing it.
It probably helps to be photogenic. I feel super self-conscious on camera. I came to art later in life, after climbing a corporate career ladder. Now I’m tired and i look it, so i feel super sad to show my always tired face on camera, although i realize that that’s how i need to connect to the audience. :(
agree it's harder when you are older to get the courage. People seem more forgiving and accepting of younger people on these social platforms. It's one reason I have only done voice so far on insta and not started on youtube even though I want to. But then there is always the odder older person that gets a large following. Maybe targeting older folks is the key...?
I’m 40 but people don’t think I’m 40 when they see me. Which it’s good but I’m uncomfortable in front of the camera because I’m not photogenic and I don’t like my voice
I found your channel a few months ago during a really difficult time in my life. I had just lost my Uncle, a few days after I lost my dog, and two weeks later- I had to walk out of my job with an alcoholic, abusive boss. But because of your videos, I was determined and on a mission- totally inspired and I knew that I needed to get back into sculpting and make my art, paint, draw etc. I had to sustain myself and make money and do what I’m actually passionate about. Creating. I’ve made more art in the last 3 months than I have in the last 3 years. I know you help so many people, and you hear it all the time but I’m grateful for you. You’ve inspired me tremendously, and because of you, I’m opening a new shop and building my small business all the way up. Thank you so much, Tammy. You are such an inspiration.
🥺 thank you so much for sharing your story! i’m so sorry for your losses, and i’m so thankful to be able to be there with you as you venture further into your creativity! this why i am so passionate about art and being self employed, because it truly give people a path that fits their needs in the most loving and fulfilling way❤️ you got this!!
this makes me realized how I was trying hard to get sales & order. My social media got lots of view but less engagement. Im focusing way too much on reaching many sales rather than building my own brand identity. Thanks for all the tips. As a small business newbie, this really helpful. ❤
There's something really fun about explaining the stories behind your characters/your art and connecting with other artists. It's so cool to see where you started from and I hope to see the same growth for everyone else watching this video!
You're such a sweet girl 😊 I've seen you become so much better at speaking to the camera and making cuter clay creations over time! More power to you Tammy ❣️
Thank you for reflecting on your social media journey with us! Social media has become a huge source of disappointment for me lately, so it's very comforting to hear you encourage everyone not to be scared of it! ❤
you are literally the sweetest.💗 when i was going through your posts on instagram, i wasn't just able to press the back button until i saw each and every one of your posts, your art is so engaging so as i scrolled down, i saw that no one had ever commented on your very first post. So i did, and now i got to see my comment in your video and i was so proud, right there is the prove that i am the biggest Uncomfy fan girl. Love you Tammy. 🌷 Hope you are taking care of your health. 💗
This helps so much, I have not posted to my RUclips in about a year because I felt my videos were cringe. This encourages me to keep going and not be so hard on myself, I really want to be comfy with being uncomfortable. Love your channel and all your lovely clay friends ❤️ 🥰
I drew kawaii art and because they were so simple and cartoony I told myself that no one would be interested but you’ve inspired me to try to tap back into making characters and even trying sculptures
You are so kind; showing folks how to have a personable and high quality professional presence in social media.💗🌞 (Tbh, I'm currently watching videos while I craft for my own comfort. Still, I recognize the immense value of creators like yourself. Thank you for taking time to share your process & life; and, to make the videos so lovely too, of course! )
Thank you so much for this! I am a 48 year old artist and a musician (not a clay artist though) and I have been putting off using social media (other than a bit of youtube) even though I know it would help me.. I always seem to have something else that I would rather be doing! I appreciate the company of Uncomfy while I work away on my art and you have nudged me towards putting some things out to promote my work. These were very good suggestions.
Thank you so much for being open with your social media journey. I have been running my small business, The Herbalist's Assistant for four years now. I make sustainable selfcare products such as soaps, lotions, etc. and social media has always been something that I have struggled with. I often put a lot of effort into making my posts cohesive and aesthetic and spent money on ads and marketing classes, forgetting that crucial thing you mentioned, "what benefit am I providing to my audience?" Thank you again, you are an inspiring go getter yet a place of comfort when I get overwhelmed as a small business owner. :)
Thank you for sharing! I only share my work/art on my channel and instagram… I have branched out to shorts or TikTok… really don’t want to but moments like these make me think it’s better for an artist to get seen.

Hey i love making clays and i actually got here trying to find a way to smooth out my piece. And i ended up subscribing you and watching all of your videos! Im korean and live in korea so i hardly ever stumble upon foreign channel. Im glad i did! You are so down to earth and a hard workder. And i can see how your brand could grow up to be as it is now. Love your art ❤
I have been doing clay art since I was in college and tried to start a clay business last pandemic but decided to stop since my page is not doing well and I am getting few to no orders at that time. I would like to thank you for sharing your tips with us. I will give it a try again this time and hopefully to succeed in the future ❤❤ Hoping for everyone's success 🙏
I hope to have good luck with in person sales and whatever I don't sell in person at my market stand I'll start my online shop. Being short on money/ me liking to buy all my products in person when I can makes me just nervous, you could even say uncomfy ha. Thanks for giving your advice even if it doesn't work for everyone.
I admire how honest and caring to yourself you are. And it feels like this is exactly what your audience needs - an example of a person who is embracing themselves and manages to succeed, because this is what we would like to be. Also, thank you for this video! Very informative and encouraging.

I don't have to be too fancy or put on a show! I can just be myself and just have fun...which is quite reassuring!
Thank you for sharing this! It’s so nice to see where art business owners started versus where they are now. I love that you didn’t take it too seriously and let your personality shine through. It really seems like that helps a lot. Anyone can see something pretty and give it a like but most people stay when they feel connected to the artist. ❤

You talked about providing value for people on social media, like being funny. To me it seems like you provide the value of giving people to some comfort throughout their day. Thanks for sharing! I found social media too overwhelming even though I had very nice and sweet people following my content. You just gave me the last push I needed to go back and share my art. I wish I could order your clay cuties but I live in Indonesia and can't afford the shipping cost :')
thank u so much for this video! this was both so calming & informative 🧡 i loved hearing the story of your little radish friends so much! the meaning behind your art gives me the seem feeling as the sentiment & nostalgia behind studio ghibli movies :’) i’m so grateful that u one day took that step forward & began showing the artist behind the art! being able to see the warm & kind soul behind ur art makes me adore ur characters even more!! i’m so excited for the day i can purchase one :3 🫶🏼🫶🏼
Thank you for making me feel more comfortable about showing my personality. I don't think I'm that great but it is important to own that wonky personality for social media and my comics. I love your videos, hope to see more from you! (I need to commission one of my weird blobbos from you one day.)

What would you suggest for someone find the value you provide to other people? Especially when what you provide seems so clear and focused?
Questions:How do you get the sponsors you getting? You think posting everyday on IG helps? What about RUclips? Can u share video apps you use to edit?

Thanks for sharing! I found social media too overwhelming even though I had very nice and sweet people following my content. You just gave me the last push I needed to go back and share my art. I wish I could order your clay cuties but I live in Indonesia and can't afford the shipping cost :')

Thank you for making me feel more comfortable about showing my personality. I don't think I'm that great but it is important to own that wonky personality for social media and my comics. I love your videos, hope to see more from you! (I need to commission one of my weird blobbos from you one day.)

Hi Tammy! Could you do a video on UV resin? I’m not sure how to use it but I’d really like to learn because I love the effect it gives clay 😊
