Fujitora wanting to see Luffy's face is maybe one of the most underrated wholesome moments in the entire series. He's such a good boy and the world is slowly starting to see it.
Always love this interaction between Law and Sengoku. To him, he isn’t talking to a Pirate. He’s speaking to the boy his Son died for and is able to honor his dead son’s memory with. Two years ago, this would be done in a prison cell but now Sengoku has that Garp Freedom that gives him the opportunity for this peaceful conversation. One might even go as far to say that Law to Sengoku could be the same as Ace to Garp.
Fujitora got to be one of my all-time favorite characters in One Piece. Him wondering what Luffy looks like, and wishing he hadn't blinded himself always brings a tear to my eye

Bro has been in the New world for less than a month and gathered a fleet larger than whitebeard’s during marineford. A fleet that took 2 decades to form
Orlumbus has my favorite bilingual puns in the series: instead of Columbus ("ko" being a prefix related to small things) it's Oh-lumbus, or "The Big Lumbus" 😂 His fleet is the Yon-ta Maria, instead of San-ta Maria, as it seems that Oda wanted to one-up Columbus.
Funny enough the actual Columbus is a character and the only member we see from his grand fleet besides random soldiers. As expected, she fits the ko prefix becuse she’s just a young small girl, but was entrusted by Orlumbus to take care of the fleet while he was in Dressrosa. It’s in a manga cover story if you don’t remember seeing her.
Law’s reaction to sengoku telling him to not look for reasons for somebody’s love always hurts me bc you know Trafalgar “let’s logic our way through this” Law definitely convinced himself that Cora MUST have had a reason for sacrificing his life for Law…! Sengoku telling Law (basically) “don’t dismiss his love for you like that, you bich” both hurt me and makes me so ❤
Fujitora blinding himself is still one of the smaller yet most intriguing mysteries in the series. Was it one specific incident? Was it so many culminating to his decision? Does it even matter what he saw now that he's an admiral? Knowing Oda's track record for backstories, IF we ever get to know what happened, he might not hold back on the subject matter.
Fun fact it was recently revealed in an sbs that fujitora was the lead military strategist of a nation where it was more than a little implied that he committed a lot of war crimes during that tenure so let the implications be what they are
I love the scene with Fujitora sending Luffy off. He saw something so horrible and was so hopeless that he chose to take his own eyes. And Luffy is such a wonderful ball of sunshine that it's enough to make Fujitora regret it. Luffy is such a good boy that the sheer amount of love the citizens of Dressrosa had for him was enough to make Fujitora think it outweighed whatever it was that took his eyes.
Can't wait to see your reaction tomorrow to Fujitora's parting words, 4th best scene in the arc after Toy Soldier holding his dead wife, Billion Fold World Trichilocosm and Gear 4th. Or is it now!?😳😲 Yeah, it was now. You didn't cry like I expected, like I did. Well, one never knows.😅
26th Consecutive day of One Piece, Out of all the conversations they extended to the point they were void of meaning I am glad that didn't happen on Sengoku/Law and Fuji/Luffy. When Fujitora lose hope for the world and just blinded himself so he can’t see the dread anymore There is a ray of Light that is so bright, it shined right through his blind eyes, like the light from the Sun And that… is Luffy
If Fujitora had been at Marineford I 100% believe he would have fought with Akainu and allow Ace to escape after “seeing” the lengths everyone had gone to saving him.
Probably not. He might have stood by or helped enforce the peace once Shanks showed up but all the people coming for Ace were pirates. The thing that stopped him here was citizens recently freed from an oppressive regime running to defend him with joy.
@@fezik8870 Fujitora also hates the idea of wasted life. He would not have allowed Akainu to go berserk like he did killing his own soldiers and forcing them to continue fighting to the death
Crazy of you to say about Fujitora “doesn’t even look at (Luffy), just feels his raw energy” when, yeah?? I guess?? Man’s blind??? Love you Alicia, so much!
In my last comment, I mentioned, Fujitora was forced to be an admiral as a captured from the Blue Kingdom defending itself, as a War Criminal so he is going to be as disobedient as he can be while technically following orders. It's revealed in SBS, which is an interview of authors notes, not in the manga or anime. He was a high ranking defense officer captured by the World Government forced to fill the 2 Vacant slots when Akainu got promoted.
@Charley-ju6yg They were simply a kingdom in the Grandline and they could have held the people hostage. There is no confirmation he had the Zushi Zushi no mi as the Defense officer but he held his position seriously to the point he got captured as an asset. From what we see, he is a dutiful person and takes responsibility in all his choices. He is also designed after 2 Kurosawa films Zatoichi (his appearance and role the blind samurai who was a body guard for the Yakuza) and Yojimbo fist full of Dollars a mercenary who got irresponsible with wealth(his attitude with money in gambling once he became an admiral) Once he had funding he did not like dishonest people compromising his role so he became distrusting after his capture. We know CP9 and some of the admirals were given their fruits at the appointment of their position so it's easy to assume the Blue Kingdom is being held hostage by the World Govt so he has to obey orders. He notes he blinded himself due to seeing atrcocities he witnessed in his lifetime so if he saw his capturer's hold his people hostage and he blinded himself in retaliation to make himself less of an asset, it would make sense.
Probably because be knows too many secrets, Sengoku wasn't allowed to just become a civilian, so he was reassigned as a "General Inspector" living that retired life. He's always hard at work, inspecting those rice cracker bags or inspecting some udon noodles. Seeing Sengoku care for his effective son so much that he's letting Law go and honoring him 13 years later...maybe that's the real reason he's so chill since he arrived in Dressrosa. He probably wanted to personally come for Rosinante to begin with. The piece of shit who killed his boy has finally been taken down and had his whole operation ruined. It's bound to take a weight off your shoulders and put a pep in his step.
With this, Alicia has caught up to my rewatch. The difference is that she binges while I only watch 3 episodes a week. I wish her well in the upcoming craziness! Stay safe everyone 😉
Despite the episodes with horrible pacing, Dressrosa is still one of the best arcs, not to mention how much was revealed. Gear 4, Sabo, the grand fleet, new and absolutely amazing admiral, Laws backstory, the fucking Kaido reveal, finally getting to one of the best villains in anime in Doflamingo, and just overall stellar writing with everything Fujitora did, and what he sets up for the future by doing what he did. And the action was just really good throughout the majority of it and even had a tournament arc. It's just too bad the pacing got ruined a little bit, but if it ever gets a remake like fishman island is currently getting, easily a top 5 arc for me

One of my top favorite moments from Dressrosa, and One Piece overall
it was the moment that solidified fujitora as a absolute fan favorite.
"don't try to find a reason for somebody's love" is so simple and relatable.
Luffy’s goofy kindhearted personality made Fujitora regret blinding himself. His charisma knows no limits!
