  • I've tried my hardest to have patience with Mo'Nique and her Netflix delusions. After watching her inteverview on The BReakfast Club, I'm officially done with her. She and Sydney both need to go sit their asses down with all these false equivalencies, and conflation of issues. Here are my thoughts...

      Dani Jé Point exactly. It's not that I don't get her stance regarding racism & sexism but it's coming from a pure place of self-interest as she tries to include the masses as if she suddenly became a freedom fighter for all women. When in fact, it's about her not receiving the money bag she expected. This takes away from REAL ISSUES that Black women struggle with in the community and globally.

    Monique came across condescending, evasive, and defensive, this is all ego driven, Charla didn't ask or discuss anything wrong with her, she needs to stop calling her husband 'daddy' during these sessions also, very unprofessional and bizarre yet she wants to call Charla by his govt name, that interview did her no favors, support the cause not the spokeswoman.

    She is killing me softly with this "my brother" and "my sister" bull. I'm so here for Charlamagne standing his ground with her. Sydney is her problem, mostly and she has allowed him to be the cause of her demise..along with her attitude. Also note, when she started posting emails and other "receipts", that put her confidentiality in to question. She's a lost cause...and she is definitely done! Thanks for your post Doll!! Love you to pieces!!

    • @KinuGoddess777
      @KinuGoddess777 6 лет назад +12

      LaKeisha Polk It's unfortunate that Monique has allowed her house-husband (what else does he do?) to control the brand that she's worked so hard to grow. Monique came from the city of Baltimore which is not a good environment to raise a family. Top it off, as a child she was sexually molested by her brother and experienced other forms of abuse from family. I think her unresolved dysfunctional childhood is influencing her poor choice in healthy male relationships (hints calling her husband daddy in public) and she's allowing her "street mentality" to destroy her business reputation.

    I didn't like how she trivialized what older members (Charlamgane's grandmother) of the Black community experiences with racism by comparing it to her Hollywood ordeal. False equivalency. This is business, all Netflix sees is green and they certainly don't see a ton of green coming from her.

    You don't automatically get the job with a resume that says you did a great job 10 years ago! Relevancy matters and Monique just doesn't have it to deserve any millions.

    • @acaraj
      @acaraj 6 лет назад +17

      Carys Is Awesome. Yes this is what bothers me the most. Why does she feel so entitled to have a special on Netflix in the first place? I kick ass at my job, does that mean I should now go to Pepsi or Google and demand 12 million dollars because my resume is golden?

    • @db200508
      @db200508 6 лет назад +3

      You are correct you don’t always get the job based on your resume but where you’re mistake is that she already got the job! They were just figuring out what her salary is going to be. That’s like you and I applying for the same position, they hire us both and then decide to pay me $40 and hour and pay you $18 an hour. You then ask well how did you figure that number, they say “well he has done a, b and c.” You then counter with well I’ve also done A, b and c and they still decided that you aren’t worth that extra $22. That’s the point. It’s not that she never got the job they already offered it to her they just wanted to completely lowball her in regards to the money.

    • @CapitalCCapitalC
      @CapitalCCapitalC 6 лет назад +7

      Dionte Brown Compensation negotiation and agreement happens prior to contract signing for any position. Both parties must agree to all terms before any job duties are performed. She was offered a job but she did not get the job because no contract was signed. I'm not mistaken about anything.

    • @CapitalCCapitalC
      @CapitalCCapitalC 6 лет назад +7

      Dionte Brown In your example if we both are hired then we've both already agreed to the compensation that was offered and there is no longer opportunity to negotiate. It's a weak comparison.

Also, I am for Mo'Nique getting her just do. I think that she needs to find a better Avenue then going on her resume tour. We all know how gifted and talented she is, but now we need her to Showcase it again. Pretty much Monique just needs to go to work. Mo'nique only brought it up once she didn't get the money she wanted, and if she had gotten her money she wouldn't be saying a word. Mo'nique is being selfish and hoping on the bandwagon for her own personal reasons.

      I can kinda understand where its coming from, I know its not from someplace incestual. Like how back in the day, Big Momma and Big Papa used to call each other Mama and Papa/Daddy, as terms of endearment and because all of the kids and grandkids called them that. But yeah, if I was on TV I wouldn't be calling my husband Daddy. I just don't think its as gross as people are trying to make it out.

    • @indestructiblea5145
      @indestructiblea5145 6 лет назад +1

      Indiegirl007 I absolutely get your perspective, have you heard her explanation as to why she calls him daddy. That statement from her own mouth speaks volumes. However if it works for her, wonderful. I personally could/ would never associate someone I am intimate with, in the same space as a parent. To each their own. Namaste and blessings always.

    • @Indiegirl007
      @Indiegirl007 6 лет назад +7

      Yes, I believe she said she calls him Daddy because he has done a lot for her, and supports her, and a lot of other stuff that sounded kinda odd. I probably wouldn't call him Daddy because of THOSE reasons, but I get it.

  • @carringtonlei6105
    @carringtonlei6105 6 лет назад +56

    I just said this to someone yesterday during a debate about this. Mo'Nique's problem is Mo'Nique and Sidney! She's left every project she's been on with beef. BET talk show (they weren't treating her fairly), Radio Show (Beef: They weren't treating her fairly), Precious (Beef: They weren't treating her fairly), Almost Christmas (Beef: Producer vows to never work with her again)... now, add Charlamagne to the growing list of people that Mo'Nique has an issue with (besides Lee, Tyler, Oprah and Netflix) and tell me who the common denominator(s) are in ALL of her f*cked up business relationships! From a BUSINESS perspective; if you make all your working relationships PUBLIC beef with your employers and I need a service you have, despite the fact that I know you're worth more - knowing that your ass CAN'T get work is going to make me offer you the BOTTOM of my budget to maximize my OWN profit - that's just business sweetheart. If no one else will hire you, I'm going to offer you as little as I can get my head around and see if you're dumb enough to take it! Sorry, the Lord ain't through with me yet. But that's how business works. I didn't go into business to be equitable - I went into business to get rich. How people keep watching Mo'Nique rant and rave and talk bull about every employer she's ever had and think that she's in the right, but they are the first ones to shake their heads because Mo'Nique Booker puts all of her business on Facebook and wonders how she thinks someone will hire her... Make up your mind. Why is Mo'Nique unable to do press anymore without Sidney? She's an Oscar winner... why does this grown assed woman need to refer to "daddy" before she answers a question?

    The fact remains that nobody is/was checking for Monique, her head got big after the Oscar win and her career has been pretty non existent since. She hasn't been on TV other than this and I feel like she is using this to make money and get relevant now. Tiffany Haddish got her deal and its gonna really boost her career, even if she not getting top dollar now, she will after her special, because its a bigger picture. We have to accept less sometimes to get more. Now her chances of anyone else major giving her a chance because of her media parade are slim. She already had Black Hollywood mad at her now the rest gonna fall back also.

    Thank you for your commentary. And I find it funny how she's now claiming she's blackballed it's Oprah and Tyler Perry's fault when just two years ago she herself said that she was not blackballed period that in fact she was still receiving offers for rolls but kept turning them down because the situation wasn't right i e the money. So my question is which one is it? She's latched onto this black women are not being paid equally campaign to justify her Netflix deal. The problem with that is Netflix does not discriminate and they proved that with the deals to Shonda Rhimes as well as other black filmmakers and actors so she has no valid point when it comes to that.

  • @galliano100

    The whole issue with Monique is that she didnt play the game when she was supposed 2! If Lionsgate calls you up to promote the movie in Cannes YOU GO! They didnt want to pay for her hotel and flight to Cannes but if I was Monique I would have paid for it myself. This would’ve shown Lionsgate and Lee Daniels that she didnt care about the money and she loves her craft and she wants to promote the movie anyway! More big offers would have come towards her IF SHE DID PLAY THE DAMN GAME.
    And the whole Netflix situation is just strange as fuck! 500k is very very low but Mo you not relevant enough to be making anywhere near 8-10Million, atleast Netflix could have gave her 1M.

    HOW did Whoopi get Monique together??? Whoopi tried to insinuate that Monique didn’t fulfill all of her contractual obligations in regards to the movie Precious. Monique clarified for the umpteenth time that she actually DID fulfill all of her contractual obligations, hence why they could not sue her for breach of contract. So Whoopi was wrong.
    When it comes to the so called false equivalencies she’s made, I completely disagree. She wasn’t comparing her being mistreated to women being raped. She was merely saying that black actresses are afraid to say they were mistreated by a powerful male director because they fear their careers would never recover just as victims of Weinstein, a powerful man in Hollywood, feared. Charlemagne never gave her the chance to clarify what she meant.
    Btw, her story has remained the same and the same can’t be said about other parties involved.

    • @CameronCourts
      @CameronCourts 6 лет назад +1

      Whoopi didn't insinuate that Monique didn't fulfill her contractual obligations; she made the point that Mo played the game wrong. It's not about the contract. Mariah Carey, Lenny Kravitz and Gabourey Sidibe had no problem going above and beyond for the film, because it was a team effort and NO one expected the film to do as well as it did. Monique chose not to do so, and that rubbed people the wrong way.

    • @lilarto
      @lilarto 6 лет назад

      Whoopi literally said "contractually" when she started speaking with Monique. If you go back to the interview, Whoopi was making the point that by signing the contract Monique was contractually obligated to promote Precious. Monique had fulfilled all of her contractual obligations including promoting the movie in the STATES. They wanted her to promote internationally (which was NOT in Mo's contract) without compensation and before Monique even asked for compensation she simply said no because she wanted to spend time with her fam.

A promoter for the play Neighborhood Barbershop canceled the play in four cities including the Atlanta. Also according to AJC.com Mo’Nique has an IRS tax lien on her home for$560,000 00 She is delusional to think that a company like Netflix which has subscribers in 191 countries would suffer from a boycott of her fans. Im so glad that you called her out on the disrespectful Birth of a Nation comparison. She has done this same thing severals times since. That passive aggressive attitude is career kryptonite and she nor husband recognize that fact.

    I dont know why Mo didnt do like Wanda Sykes did. Netflix didnt offer her much either, so she declined and went elsewhere and got what she wanted.

      Wanda Sykes had that option. Monique does not. Most of her former employers won't work with her again due to negative experiences. She's stuck on an island with daddy bc the bridges have burned.

      Mo’Nique and Daddy explained in the interview that Wanda has a much broader audience (white people) than Mo’Nique. So she is able to do it on her own and be more successful. Mo knows her comedy is for a very niche audience of certain Black people.

    I love this. You did your thing. Everything you said I said during that interview with the breakfast club. And when Charlemagne told Monique that Dave Chappelle had done 1500 shows before getting his deal with Netflix why doesn't she do that....Monique and Sydney had no answer. It's sad when you don't hear your own bull!!!

    1) I love that the Breakfast Club didn't back down. All those other radio shows she went to did even though they know the way business is done.
    2) I hate that she tried to make Charlamagne look like he didn't respect all black women just because he didn't agree with her.
    3) I can't stand that she calls her husband daddy in public. She can do whatever the hell she wants in her house but not in public.
    4) She played the victim card when she didn't have to. She could have raised the money that she needed to do a comedy special on Go fund Me and showed Netflix that she was in demand.
    5) I hate that she tells the public about private conversations that she has had with her friends because she thinks that they have wronged her by not agreeing with her publicly.
    *PS* the Breakfast Club has done a lot of things for black people and Change for Change is one of them. The fund raiser for Colin Kaepernick, yea people love to forget about shit like that. My point is though, I truly believe that had Monique asked for help instead of a boycott we would have been there for her. Instead she insulted our intelligent and we weren't having that.

    Charlamange did not back down like Sway did. Mo'Nique FORGETS to tell people her VERY FIRST deal was for $3 million and they wanted her to audition.She refused to audition for the big wigs. When she REFUSED to audition that is when they dropped it to $500,000. Also she forgets to tell people that she stayed at the same NO NAME club for over a year did NOT sell out,and ALWAYS has a 2 drink minimum on each ticket sale. If she can not sellout a 450 seat club she is LUCKY they offered her $3 million to begin with.
    What she forgets to tell people is Precious was an $11 million budget film which was to pay for everyone and everything,that is why she got $50k.
    What she forgets to tell people is her husband calls allot of executives and cusses them out.
    My belief is she is doing this due to her financial situation.2016 she owed and still owes money to IRS.She owed them $400,000.00 unsure what she owes now.
    Also what Mo'nique forgets to tell people how SPECIALS like Comedy works with NETFLIX. First Netflix hires everyone to make the special from cameras,editing etc. Second the comedian does everything themselves and brings the finished product to Netflix. The amount paid differs depending on which is done.So for her to compare what someone else got paid unless she knows how the special was done is misleading the public.

    Mo’Nique said "daddy" couldn’t make it so they had to call him on speaker phone. She and Sydney are becoming Kim and Kroy. Can’t do anything without the other one there.
