- Similar to the Logitech Squeezebox, this is a competitor and I must say a better machine all around. The greatest thing about these is the fact that you don't need any phone or device hooked up to it to stream, (unlike a bluetooth speaker). It is independent and sounds great! The is the Mondo, made by Grace. It comes packed with apps such as Sirux XM, iHeart radio, local stations and Pandora. Play your music from your computer, USB stick and have it play through your entire house with the audio out jacks.
I too own a Logitech Squeezebox and have had it for several years. I also own Grace radios. I have never had a problem with the Squeezebox even using Pandora. I have however had problems with the Grace not playing some audio on Pandora and other apps. I must say that the Logitech Squeezebox seems to be more reliable at playing without having to rebuffer. I believe that both radios can have problems if something is going on with either the internet or your local ISP. So many things can go wrong that would perhaps hamper your radios ability to perform at a peak performance all of the time. I own several brands of Internet Radios and, they all have problems now and then. I believe your problem with your Logitech must have been a very rare instance for the brand. Logitech builds very dependable electronics and the Squeezebox is no exception. I own Pure and Cambridge Soundworks also and all of the brands have difficulty receiving certain feeds at different times. I listen to a station in the UK and it normally plays without a problem. However, when there is a problem, usually all of the radios have the same problem playing the station. So, it must be the station or internet and not the particular radio. The Grace Mondo is a copy of the Logitech Squeezebox. The Logitech does give you the option of using the older Squeezebox app or the updated version which some users do not like. I use Squeezebox version and I enjoy it very much.
The squeezebox allows you it sync two radios together so they play as one! Also you can search for programs from ipad/iphone remote. Say you are looking for your local nfl team. Just search for it and it will find all the stations playing the game!
The GMote app for Android sounds like a great idea and a lot better than the hardware remote that comes with the unit.
Had my sqweeze box since 2009 never had a problem with it daily alarm clock and use Spotify on it every day .
My Logitech UE Radio has Screens gone Gray I've Factory Re Set & It's still showing Gray whats the problem please any idea???
I think you didn't understand what the "squeezebox-system" is.
By the way, the Mondo Radio is obviously a Squeezebox-Radio clone.
Could the Mondo connect to a home-server like the LMS to play your music?
Or could it syncronize two or more players for syncronized multi-room musicplaying? So I think you are comparing a nice internet-radio with a complex server-based system.
Sure it will. Just enable the UPnP plugin in Logitech Media Server and the Mondo will find it as a UPnP server and play from that.
Reginald Van Gleason But with upnp you have no synchronized playback. You have just two or more devices playing the same media with random time-lags. It might be a good internet-radio with upnp-extention but not a Squeezebox at all. Sonos is a comparable system for example.
No, it's not a Squeezebox and it's too bad Logitech abandoned the Squeezebox platform. You are correct, the Mondo will not do synchronized playing. It also does not depend on having LMS running somewhere on the network to fully function.
I was reading some reviews from Sangean radios and they were saying that some of those radios do not need a radio service (ie Pandora) for it to get 18,000 radio statiosn - does that apply to the Grace radio as well..?
I think the squeezebox is a bit better. It has Tunein and the Mondo appears to not have it.
Will it recognize more than one music account (Pandora for example). So if its setup in my mom's house linked to her Pandora account can I pull out my phone and use my Pandora account with the Mondo? Hope that made sense.
It's been over a year since you posted this video. Do you still like the unit? I'm asking before thinking about purchasing one for myself.
Does it allow for manual input of the stream address? For example, I would need to listen to a specific radio station which may not be in the Pandora or whatever website directory is memorized by this unit. Is it possible to tell the unit to go to a specific streaming address?
...it sees computers streaming dlna in your local network but doesnt let you do an external address that I've seen
I asked Grace Digital, and based on what I was told, you have to ask Receiva, their radio station listing service, to list the station. Once added, you can access the stream.
Is there a web interface with the Mondo? I hated when Logitech got rid of the web interface in favor of smartphone app only. If you're listening to the radio and you get a call, it's tough to jump to the phone app to turn the radio down before answering.
Not that I know of. It does control VIA iphone/android remote app
I notice you are in Vegas, does it pull ESPN Las Vegas radio from the net?
is it works with Tunein radio?
stereo ?
Can you get Tunein Radio stations on that WiFi radio?
+Jason Kyer yes. I no longer use this and use an Amazon echo. It is great and much better than this setup or any other internet radio as far as I'm concerned.
