The only time a Dazzler solo series had an impressive run was in the 1981 to 1984ish that ended at issue 42. The gimmick of that character ran its' course back then. Trying to revive her solo career again and again is pathetic. Making her a full-time X-Men or Avengers member would only work with talented writers and artists.

People who lack basic morals and don't understand them will never be able to write superheroes, who are supposed to represent the best of us. This is why so many characters have been written out of character at Marvel and DC since these individuals took over those companies. X-men have been turned into villains, Cap into a nazi, and the list goes on and on. We need to just continue to allow them to lose money until someone at those companies finally realizes losing money sucks and is the opposite of why companies exist and fires these people and actually hires people who are qualified to write these sorts of characters and stories.

I don't know what Claremont got paid, but he wrote X-Men and other Marvel titles for a long time. Dennis O'Neil, Jim Starlin, Chuck Dixon, Alan Grant, Doug Moench - these fellas told great stories for years in the big-two. There are good writers out there who have stories to tell, who would love to write Avengers, Batman, X-Men, or Justice League stories - if you think there aren't, you are fooling yourself. But those aren't the people Marvel wants writing their characters.
At this point, ChatGPT could write a better comic. I'm serious! Type "write a Spiderman comic where Peter and MJ are married with kids, and Spiderman faces Kraven" into ChatGPT. It will be better than what we got this month.
@tosweetdelight John Byrne did an X-Men comic for free. There are still good writers out there, Kyle Higgins, Ryan Parrot, Michel Fiffe, Daniel Warren Johnson. If they made Rob Liefeld a decent offer I'm sure he'd do something. Mark Millar!! Here in the UK new American comics cost on average £5 it's getting to costly for the stories and art work that's produced, I'm seriously thinking of calling it a day, and just keeping my silver and bronze age comics.
Ugh. Ok full disclosure? I knew Jason 10 years ago when he was coming up as a cosplayer in the Toronto scene. Cosplayed as Multiple Man in a nonsense charity group called "Toronto X-Men" which helped promote his indy book, Pitiful Human-Lizard. Which was god awful. It tried to give you the nonsense irony/parody tone that pretty much put Torontonians as a culture in the worst way possible. And he was a dick even then. I cannot even pretend to be shocked 10 years later, having had this guy on my social media for a good long while til shit got ultra political and either he blocked me or I blocked him, I cannot actually say, that he would make garbage on the real Marvel books. Even talking to him about the books then, you could tell he wasn't a fan of comics for the same reasons actually comic book fans were. It was some of the most painful conversations I ever had with anybody about comics.

No one believed it was going to start happening in the main Earth, but I knew they were going to do it, it was only a matter of time after making him gay in Earth 2.

I’ll straight up say it. Women ruined comics. Name one female writer from the past 15 years that actually would have hurt the industry if they weren’t in it? There is no great female writer that couldn’t easily be replaced by a male counterpart. Comics used to be considered mainstream. Now they are niche. They think anyone who has the same beliefs as your average American is somehow a bigot. The big two and most of the mainstream comic industry and media seem to be gatekeeped by a group that represents the most extreme beliefs that not even a small percentage believe.

Jason Loo's Dazzler is possibly the worst superhero comic ever printed. I thought Mags' Dazzler X-Song was as bad as it could get. I was wrong. There is NO way this is selling enough to merit another issue. It's likely just because Luna Snow is in Rivals.
Captain Planet was one of my favorite cartoons in the early 90's.The idea of a enviromental superhero was so nice so unique and tried to teach good messages for childrens. The show don't was afraid in to touch in mature themes like racism, drug addiction and even AIDS that plagued the society in that time. I don't liked the character design in this new comic. The beard it's very silly. Marvel turned Dazzler in a complete joke. The things just get worse in Marvel year after year. So sad.

The multiple things they done over the years have shrunk this hobby to what it is today. Now today theres not enough money to pay proper writers, artist, editors or journalists covering them, to make good comics. So what were left with is activists who do not even care about making a living from the hobby as long as they can push their ideology through what was once beloved characters. Not sure they can ever pull out of this nose dive as they can not afford competitive people to do that.

They have a new doc about Stan Lee and the big two publishers. I am still viewing, and while l can't say l agree with much of their interpretations, they show some disturbing trends by current 'hot writers' in the industry. Well, if you look at review sites, people are giving these comics 4 and 5 out of 5 ratings, so as long as these morons are going to buy these comics and grade them that high, not much the rest of us can do about it. I don't know if they're paying for them or not, or even if it's bots, but the praise is mind boggling when you read the reviews.
No sites are reviewing these comics - Dazzler's last issue had 2 reviews and avg of 7.9/10, Welcome to Smallville's final issue had 5 reviews and avg of 7.5/10
So this literally just happened. I was walking with my friend to the lcs to pick up my pull list (I had to explain what a pull list is). She was telling me that she had started playing Marvel rivals and her new characters are Cloak and Dagger. Then she asked me if I knew anything about them. OH My GOSH! I love Cloak and Dagger and I started explaining their backstory. But I I can’t point her to any Cloak and Dagger comics. I wish I still I had my first issues but they burned in the fire! But Cloak and Dagger comics are hard to find. Aggghh, Marvel, you are literally leaving money on the table by not reissuing old comics for people who are now interested because of that Marvel Rivals game made by an Asian company!

When the comic books coming out have even less quality control than an Ed Wood movie…. The shame is that the independents in comics don’t get much bandwidth at all (outside of self-promotion). None of the major comic books publishers are good stewards of their respective IP. Until the executives down through the creatives get removed and replaced with stewards who respect their products, these horrible products will continue to drag the industry down.
Modern comics are getting more and more clones of what’s gone before but with heroes and villains acting like they have swapped roles the only really good comics are transformers and Conan g.i joe to a lesser extent and the new cable comic is shaping up only one issue out so far
Just saying, have read Wolverine Revenge 4 and also re-read X-MEN 5 (Jim Lee) for the hundredth time, while we can all agree that issue 5 is definitely not Watchmen level, then agin, what is, and I don‘t need it on a monthly basis, it is much a better red than the slugfest going nowhere in Wolverine. In short, where are the editors telling authors to write a decent story and maybe reigning them in?

When I go to a COMIC con now it’s like 2 booths of comics and 20 booths of Funco pops or wheatever the fad is now and I’m trying not to get run over by people dressed like Harly Quinn who’ve never read a comic in their life. People only like the “perceived culture” surrounding comics. They are not comic fans. As someone who is immensely addicted to comic books, I take umbrage from this. Jason Loo's Dazzler is possibly the worst superhero comic ever printed. I thought Mags' Dazzler X-Song was as bad as it could get. I was wrong. There is NO way this is selling enough to merit another issue. It's likely just because Luna Snow is in Rivals.
I started reading Comics in the late 50's & completely stopped buying new issues years ago.
Hellfire Gala was fuckin cringe to the levels of ‘90s “Swimsuit Edition” comics.

At least, nobody pretended the Swimsuit Edition comics were plot relevant.
Captain Planet was one of my favorite cartoons in the early 90's.The idea of a enviromental superhero was so nice so unique and tried to teach good messages for childrens. The show don't was afraid in to touch in mature themes like racism, drug addiction and even AIDS that plagued the society in that time. I don't liked the character design in this new comic. The beard it's very silly. Marvel turned Dazzler in a complete joke. The things just get worse in Marvel year after year. So sad.

The multiple things they done over the years have shrunk this hobby to what it is today. Now today theres not enough money to pay proper writers, artist, editors or journalists covering them, to make good comics. So what were left with is activists who do not even care about making a living from the hobby as long as they can push their ideology through what was once beloved characters. Not sure they can ever pull out of this nose dive as they can not afford competitive people to do that.
To think 90s comics are still better then today's age of comics blows my mind. Really sick off the dei LGBTQ propaganda they push into everything that ruins the authenticity of a story.

Hi Wes. If you do an upcoming vid on the lack of morality in comics, l recommend that you also check out the recent Video series by Good Fight Ministries. They have a new doc about Stan Lee and the big two publishers. I am still viewing, and while l can't say l agree with much of their interpretations, they show some disturbing trends by current 'hot writers' in the industry. I suspect you will find it challenging and add fuel to your fire. Thanks for your consideration and hard work!

I gave up on DC and Marvel many years ago. At the end of the day people just want to read good stories. It’s that simple.
I'm 48 and so happy i wasn't born any later than i was. Marvel peaked and entered tbeir endless slide when i was in high school. I haven't bothered since. Currently rereading back issues and other countries' stuff

Well, if you look at review sites, people are giving these comics 4 and 5 out of 5 ratings, so as long as these morons are going to buy these comics and grade them that high, not much the rest of us can do about it. I don't know if they're paying for them or not, or even if it's bots, but the praise is mind boggling when you read the reviews.

So this literally just happened. I was walking with my friend to the lcs to pick up my pull list (I had to explain what a pull list is). She was telling me that she had started playing Marvel rivals and her new characters are Cloak and Dagger. Then she asked me if I knew anything about them.
OH My GOSH! I love Cloak and Dagger and I started explaining their backstory. But I I can’t point her to any Cloak and Dagger comics. I wish I still I had my first issues but they burned in the fire! But Cloak and Dagger comics are hard to find. Aggghh, Marvel, you are literally leaving money on the table by not reissuing old comics for people who are now interested because of that Marvel Rivals game made by an Asian company!

It like they ran out of idea's. There talking about a reboot for Marvel. The reboots don't last long look at DC how many times they done that. And today, fans are only looking for that 1comic they buy at cover price that will be worth 2k in week. When I was in to comic the writers and arts cared cause we the the fans did. I did cared what it was going to be worth 30yrs later. I wanted to know who that Horse guy was on my Thor comic. WHY Spider-Man was in a black costume. What Angle was going to do after he lost is wings.
When the comic books coming out have even less quality control than an Ed Wood movie…. The shame is that the independents in comics don’t get much bandwidth at all (outside of self-promotion). None of the major comic books publishers are good stewards of their respective IP. Until the executives down through the creatives get removed and replaced with stewards who respect their products, these horrible products will continue to drag the industry down.

Modern comics are getting more and more clones of what’s gone before but with heroes and villains acting like they have swapped roles the only really good comics are transformers and Conan g.i joe to a lesser extent and the new cable comic is shaping up only one issue out so far
DC were great between 1938-2011 and then also 2016-2018. No clue when Marvel was great but I'm guessing before Fear State.

Just saying, have read Wolverine Revenge 4 and also re-read X-MEN 5 (Jim Lee) for the hundredth time, while we can all agree that issue 5 is definitely not Watchmen level, then agin, what is, and I don‘t need it on a monthly basis, it is much a better red than the slugfest going nowhere in Wolverine. In short, where are the editors telling authors to write a decent story and maybe reigning them in?
