CHECK your AIRBOX before you WRECK your TURBO!

  • We tune a lot of cars here at Darkside and an often overlooked, or even self inflicted, problem can be lurking under the bonnet. Clean filtered air is vital to keep an engine healthy and producing correct power figures. Missing seals and dodgy filters are not ideal and can be costly to fix.
    The B8 platform is notorious for the MAF sensor seal being missing and causing premature turbo wear, at least 50% of these cars are missing the seal from the factory or being misplaced during servicing. Almost all require a turbo replacement.
    If you are booking in for a tune with us, please check your turbo first, it will save delays and cost when we have the car in our workshop!

    Wow glad you showed me this, as I have a B8 A4 TDI. It's just gone for a service and I will check it when it comes back. My friends got the B7 2005 model, with a new turbo. His old one had the same wear on the turbo that broke. Now his airfilter box is in a bad way, and I suspect its down to that. I will mention it to him, and show him this video, as it could damage his new turbo too. Good job your here to help, love all your videos🚗 ❤️👍

    Great tip. Will check my own car for this ASAP. Im guessing its not there because when i bought it the the MAF was not sitting properly in the filter or the box, and the car threw a error code because of a dirty MAF.

    I’ve got a feeling I need a new turbo gonna have a look at it when I change my filter on weekend. I’m new to working on cars does slight damage to turbo mean new turbo? If so is it worth upgrading or changing turbo like for like? What sort of cost is a turbo upgrade (2008 a5 3.0 CCWA)

    • @DarksideDevelopments
      @DarksideDevelopments  Месяц назад +1

      If the turbo is damaged, it's best to get it replaced to prevent any further potential damage to the engine. As to which turbo to get, depends if you want to keep it standard or want to push more power out of it than just a tune will do. Drop us an email to sales@darksidedevelopments.co.uk with reg/vin and we can breakdown costs depending on what you want to achieve from your car

      @@DarksideDevelopments I mean I wont complain having more power 😂 when I bought the car it was already mapped to 300ish and managed to finesse the dark side downpipe for free with the car as he took it off before sale and have put it on since so sounds 10/10. Is it as simple as putting a bigger/more powerful turbo on or are other upgrades needed when upgrading turbo. Once I have a look at turbo on weekend I’ll know if I want to change turbo or not yet

    • @DarksideDevelopments

    Hello im from sweden and follow your posts it seems you guys know what you doing 👌🏻.I folia you guys since i buyed a Audi . Now I’m owner of Audi A6 (45TDI) , and I have one question I changed my air filter and usually I check all pipes and condition of turbo, looks good , but I wondering one thing ?should be oil moisture on the inlet pipes and turbo? It’s not a lot but you can definitely feel there is oil ?

    • @DarksideDevelopments

      Yes this is normal, it is just oil vapours from the breather pipe going back into the inlet. Nothing to worry about 👍
