Your talent ceases to amaze me. And I am quite jealous of the organs that you get to play on. Keep these amazing recordings coming. It makes my day when I see a notification telling me that you have uploaded another video.
The eighteen Leipzig chorales (BWV 651 - 668), to which this chorale prelude belongs, have an interesting history. There is also an early form of this chorale prelude (BWV 654a).
Hi, lieber Paul.
I'm overwhelmed by this performance, inasmuch as it is beautifully played on my favorite organ in the world. I was thrilled to see it in person a few years ago and have taken great pleasure in the recordings I obtained while there. This brings it all back to me-thank you, Paul.
Lieber Paul, vielen Dank für die Aufnahme. Eines meiner absoluten Lieblingsstücke aus den 18 Leipziger Chorälen. Und dazu auch so wunderschön interpretiert.
Another sensitively played Bach piece. That must be one of the oldest instruments still in use. (On the visuals: your time in video production was well spent. Few are so equally talented in musical and visual arts). From Chicago, U.S.A.
I find this serene and elated melody belongs to Bach’s greatest chorales and your rendition is perfect as for the registers and the not too fast tempo. The cathedral is majestic which you well demonstrate with the brief clips enclosed. With sincere thanks.
Thanks for this beautiful presentation, Paul. Such a great piece of Bach on this fantastic organ, and a wonderful video presentation of the cathedral ! Very enjoyable !
Beautifully played! I wish I could go sit and listen to someone play the organ in person here in Denver, but it doesn't seem to be an option as far as I know. (Or play it myself, but I'm not that good lol)
Thank you so much!! You could try to visit your local church on a sunday service - there should be plenty of organ music there. I tend to do this too if there is an organ I want to hear 😀
That is the most beautiful of Bach's chorale preludes and you played it very well though I don't think the tempo was quite consistent. All the same, I thoroughly enjoyed your playing.
Thank you for watching, Roderic! Yes, you are right - it’s not perfect, especially the tempo of the second half varies quite a bit - I wanted to show it anyway because of the wonderful principals 😀
@@PaulFey I did not notice the tempo variation. This is one of my favorite Bach chorale preludes and the registration was perfect, and I loved your rendition of it. Thank you for sharing Paul.
Yes! I usually mix the camera audio with the audio of another microphone down in the church 😀 In this case it was not possible so I placed the other mic on the edge of the organ balcony!
Congratulations! In gratitude for the beautiful music here on your channel, I sent you an email with a free eBook on my research on the symbology of the organ. Hope you enjoy!
Sublime. Well played, Paul. That is one of the most beautiful pieces of music of all time.
This is such a wonderful piece - and sounds marvellous on this lovely organ - Thank you for the great video and presentation to go with it!
Toller Vortrag, ich liebe das Geräusch der mechanischenTrakturen.

when you record your videos do you use the audio from your camera placed over looking the console or do you you use a seperate microphone?

"Thou shall not play Bach on a French speaking organ" Eleventh commandment 😉 But I love it! Thanks! 😊
😂👌🏼
🙏 but hard to dance to...💃
Indeed! 😂
This question has been nagging me since I was given a dismissive answer at 15: why does he use a c-clef in this piece?
👍🏻🤴🏻
😀
Nice. Too often neo classic organs are bland or shriek, And the organist does not like playing on calmer stops and at a more relaxed speed.
Thank you for watching! 😀
