Good reaction. This is the era of pop punk that moved away from skateboard; party hard culture and kind of moved into this anti conformist attitude. The look and style was kind of of the pre cursor to what would turn into the emo look with the make up and "anti-trend" social setting. Which it it's self was just another fad. Which would later turn into hardcore and scene kids in the later 2000's. Should give the "Science of your selling your self short by Less than" Jake a listen, it's less 90's and transitioned into the early 2000's sound. Another decent earlier Cali west coast punk band to check out would be "Rancid", Either "time bomb" or "old friend" are good starters .
