  • This time Glocal Mom is having 5-days of quality time with Glocal Handsome in the picture-perfect, totally green island of Skopelos (next to the islands of Skiathos & Alonissos).
Come & enjoy some of the most romantic locations & the greatest restaurants the locals we met love.
    1. The Lighthouse of Gourouni - It is unnecessarily about the lighthouse itself (unless you are Glocal Handsome and you love construction & everything related to the sea). For me, it was about the way to the furthest point one can drive to in Skopelos island; It was about the marvelous view from the lighthouse and the hidden beaches & houses we discovered on our way there.
    2. Agnanti (Glossa) - a family-owned restaurant since 1952 that gives a delicious modern twist to traditional food; enjoy the unbelievable view to the Aegean Sea, and the fresh-produce & mineral-water based cooking, not to mention the lovely atmosphere; Thanks Nikolas Stamatakis - the chef, manager &the creator of many of the delicious plates - whom we can all learn from about implementing positive change (& greener cooking) in a traditional family business. Not an easy task at all. Chapeau.
    3. Agios Ioannis (Mamma Mia) Chapel - cause you have to. @ least once. If you decide to move to the island one day (summers), you'll probably find other places to go to on the island, but you'll keep taking your guests there. Don't forget to take a bottle of water & a lock or hairband, if you feel like tying the knot again. Don't forget to check the unbelievable beach Agios Ioannis Kastri just below the chapel.
    4. Agnontas - a relaxed & beautiful fishermen's village. I loved it. Especially @sunset.
    5. Korali Seafood Tavern Restaurant @ Agnontas - Every person we met talked about Korali. food wise, view wise, atmosphere wise. We went there twice - once there was a wedding so it was not open to the public, aka us & once it was fully booked. I guess it as good as they say. Now I'll definitely have to go back to Skopelos.
    6. Skopelos Town (also known as Chora) - Our villa was overlooking Skopelos port and the old town. What an amazing view - day and night. The enormous ferries next to the smaller yachts, the bars and restaurants, the narrow streets, the sounds of Greek music from the taverns… dreamy.
    7. Thank you to Mrs. Tsouknid from Cosmohealth (negative Covid-19 test is one of the requirements to fly back home) for recommending us to try the Cheese pie factory of Rantistis Antonios (can be found in supermarkets as well) - either eat on the spot or take it to fry at your own kitchen (if you have one on the island).. Crispy & Awesome!
    8. The amazing Amarantos Rocks with the pine trees (that survived the fire) sticking out of the sea cliff - what a wedding location. Many wedding packages can be found in Skopelos. Check them out. I was not into it. Next time - the hidden-cove swimming at spectacular Cape Amarandos.
Do not forget to share your experience in Skopelos, Greece. You know when I do not travel, I live from your stories.
