Im my opinion, this year is the number 1 year, but it is tied with 2020. While 2020 might sound stupid, you seriously got to give them a point for their effort. So many towers got reworked that I lost count, a few towers were added, a new currency and mode was added, most enemies got reworked, we got 1 decent event, and one of the greatest event for the time. Yet people still decide to call it the worst year simply because some towers got nerfed for balancing purposes.
I'm gonna have to say you're 100% wrong. Progression absolutely sucked. Easy mode was literally harder than molten mode, and you couldn't solo molten mode with the beginner towers. So what was the only grinding strategy? BEGGING FOR CARRIES. After molten mode, you then go to fallen- oh wait, you don't, fallen sucked for grinding. So you'd endlessly grind molten until you got all the towers to beat hardcore, right? Wrong, wrong, wrong, again. Cuz to beat hardcore, you needed accelerator, a GEM TOWER, and to get accelerator, you needed GEMS, which can only be gained from BEATING HARDCORE. DO YOU NOT SEE THE PROBLEM? Also, the tower nerfs sucked. WHO NERFED ROCKETEER & FREEZER, TELL ME! Cuz they were GARBAGE! Remember when pyromancer straight-up made things more difficult because it SPED UP ENEMIES!?!
4:56 Also, most things that you can buy with robux in TDS is cosmetic. There be mfs out there when TDS releases a skin and say “THEYRE LOCKING CONTENT BEHIND A PAYWALL!!” Like no- its the same tower with a different coat of paint.. and unless you’re a collector, you dont need to worry about event towers because the devs are trying to not make it that good
i HATE when people say 2024 was one of the worst years for tds Becuase is was unarguably one of the BEST Every main mode got reworked to be more unique from each other A lot of tower reworks A few very unique new towers And two new game modes If you compare it to 2023 it is NIGHT to DAY
Best year of TDS hands down. Brilliant video, also I somehow NEVER noticed that you were a small (ish) TDS RUclipsr Edit: Oh yeah also why Potemer of all people I loved his animations SECOND EDIT I AM SO INDECISIVE WITH MY COMMENTS: Your take on the battle pass perfectly reflects onto how I feel, like yeah the game has more micro transactions but also it you know, gets weekly updates and an ever growing development team?
For the hex scape battlepass, lemme guess, you just bought the whole thing with robux, right? Here's what makes the hex scape battlepass bad, even if we were to ignore the robux side: 1. Too much grinding. Once I got meta towers, grinding for battle passes wasn't hard. I usually had 10 days or more left. But with the hex scape? I got wasteland commander & ditched grinding. 2. Too much filler. Way more than half the battlepass was filler like coins, XP, & RNG WHEEL TICKETS. People are obviously gonna be mad when previously, they got a skin every rank. 3. The remaining rewards sucked. Out of the remaining skins, over half of them were bad. The soldier skin in particular was already really bad. If you can't tell by now, PEOPLE WERE GONNA BE MAD, WITH or WITHOUT the ROBUX. The UTTER DOWNGRADE in QUALITY would've been like DAY & NIGHT.
Current TDS doesnt feel same as it was with 2019-Overhaul/Hardcore Update/Beta, the fact Overhaul is now nostalgia, but it was still worst update in community opinion due to MASSIVE nerfs, LOW dmg for couple towers, Sentry FADED away but it wasnt that usable tho.
tbh, operation ice was not the greatest, lore wise it didn't make sense since they didn't explain the old frost invasion, and gameplay wise it was kinda easy to beat, sure the cutscenes were cool but that's pretty much it
Yeah lore is still a little all over the place, but the state they were in just a year ago compared to now is a huge step, with time it'll get exponentially better if they keep putting effort into the game.
Many things wrong with this video. While yes the updates of 2024 are an overall step in the right direction, I find it comical that you basically glossed over the disgusting amount of bugs and glitches pretty much across the whole year. The consumables update wasn’t so hated just because it added a slot wheel or overpowered power ups, it was also hated because it broke the game into a semi playable state where dozens of towers and mechanics were either buggy or broke altogether. The most infamous one being when pursuit wouldn’t even stop to attack enemies anymore, functioning basically like an ace pilot. I never understood the hate for the classic event. I breezed through all its chapters just fine and yet I saw people complaining and resorting to using strats. If you did that, then I genuinely have no words for you. It wasn’t that hard bro. And when it comes to the hexscape battlepass, people had every right to complain about it. It was slow, it was filler heavy, the only way to even grind that shit was to play night 2 and death grind or play night 3. If you were doing anything else to grind it, then you were wasting your time. and the only good skin on the free track is the final skin. Even the paid track didn’t have many good skins but I digress. I genuinely laughed my ass off when you said hexscape was an actually balanced event, considering how night 2 on hard mode on trio was literally harder than night 3 AND it was easier on solo and duo. All because of the godawful eco system they’ve adopted in 2024 which wasn’t mentioned at all in this video. Some bugs from hexscape still haven’t even been fixed until now. Those bugs are notably rejoining and revive tickets. Yes I’m aware rejoining CAN work now but it’s still buggy and only sometimes works. Operation ice was a good event, but for literally anything except its gameplay. The entire blizzard system was poorly executed. I’ve never placed a single tower outside the base after my first time playing. Because it’s a complete waste of money. ESPECIALLY with this game’s terrible 1/3 cash back from selling towers. I’m amazed that’s still even a thing when games like btd 6 and tdx have 70% and 50% sell cash backs respectively that can STILL be increased with upgrades. You do nothing except wait for the enemies to attack your base walls in the first 6 waves or so, wasting minutes just to finally start playing and even then on hard mode it’s still too slow paced even after the enemies are finally in the base. Yeah. Not great. Operation ice’s battlepass was great at least, the miscellaneous other changes are also good. Just the event map itself isn’t good.
Alright, lemme explain some things here The bugs and glitches I did mostly gloss over, 1. because I didn't keep track of them, I could have looked back at comments and such for them but didn't because: 2. The video would have become a lengthy bug and glitch recap. I get that there were issues, but I also have to make the video watchable. Yes I should have mentioned some of the bugs, and how hexscape wasn't super balanced instead of wrapping it up with "everyone liked it", tbh I didn't play THAT much TDS from September to November, so I didn't see if any huge balancing issues existed, once again I could have went back and fact check that part. and side note I briefly showed a comment of how restart was broken, but never did explicitly say it. As for the consumables, I was saying how it started conflict between communities therefore people didn't like it, and left out that yes it was super buggy, but again I forgot that they were super buggy. As for Operation ICE, most people liked it and I was coming form that perspective, that TDS satisfied a good amount of players. The scripting of this video has less time put into it than I should have put in, I rushed it at the time and instead put my effort into the thumbnail, title, and editing. If I had been more thorough with each large update, I would have mentioned issues and upsides with each one, as for this version of the script I aimed to quickly recap what happened and if largely it was a good or bad feature, and in the end acknowledge that 2024 was a good year for TDS. It's an updates schedule we haven't seen form the team and as expected it will go to shit more often than not, but I typically don't want to focus on smaller issues such as bugs, in the end TDS is making moves to be a consistent game developer, and if the floor for what a good game developer is, and in turn what a good year is higher for you that's ok. I'm looking at 2024 form the view that it's a year that needed to happen if they wanted to rip off the "tower delay simulator" label, in parts it was a shit show but that's how evolving from a team that doesn't do much besides bug updates to full content updates every week works, I don't know how else to say that I feel like I got my ideas out.
@ nice response. One thing I should’ve made clearer is that just having a premium battlepass isn’t bad, but it’s the way hexscape specifically handled it. Operation ice fixed all serious issues relating to the battlepass. I just wish the devs would listen to problems regarding the gameplay of hexscape and operation ice, as well as the eco system and poor bug control. I don’t think having bugs every now and then is a big deal, which is why I loved lunar overture despite its popular reception being that it’s one of the worst events, but the updates in 2024 were so buggy that people actually struggled to think of relatively bug free updates. That’s crazy imo
bro tds 2024 has been one of the worst years i've seen, lets go back to 2022 please, i hope they dont murder another tower this year or do any weird shenanigans
@@endportex (dont say i hate change, all people say that to me for hating on their family friendly game, i just think they dont know how to change things) dj rework, (kinda bad) killed one of the most used mechanics that being cheaper farms, only being able to have 1 buff at a time is kind of a disvantange so ur forced to max the dj sooner or cycle between the songs all the time, like with most reworks some strats may have changed. commander rework (i dont even know if this was 2024 but i still dont like it much due to it killing a very used solo badlands strat, issues with early levels but the rest is fine) halloween event, towers sucked real bad they are horrible (harvester, hallow punk) the gameplay of the event however wasnt that bad i actually think it was decent content, the battlepass, absolute trash bad battlepass simply bad. winter event, same with halloween but only 1 tower sucks which we all know snowballer shouldnt exist, same issue with battlepass but event was fine, pursuit rework was fine? i mean its very confusing with the 2 path upgrades (mm tdx and bloons td?) oh i forgot to mention how the rework skins of the dj are like bad (especially neon rave that one got cooked so hard, and neon rave dj was the main motivation to open deluxe crates). so yeah to me, tds is the definition of change done wrong, not all of it sucked (like the fallen rework thats good, but the molten one is kinda meh to me) but it did change a lot of stuff that just dont feel good about some towers, and i prefer they add harder gamemodes rather than killing towers with reworks and debuffs. i know its a lot of yap but meh. i'd rather have 3 skin crates as updates for the year than seeing my towers die in each update or all of my hopes and dreams being destroyed after trying to solo badlands or pizza party.
This is a hot pick, but I’d say the updates generally got worse over time, especially when it got to Hexscape and Operation I.C.E. Both of these events feel heavily underbaked with a lot of stuff just slapped together with duct tape. While the premium gamepass isn’t something that I have a problem with, the grind for completing the battlepass, especially the Hexscape one was a mess. The gameplay felt incredibly boring as well as while they may be exciting on a first playthrough, they only provide shock value and in Operation I.C.E’s situation nostalgia bait. While you can generally play these gamemodes once and never touch upon them again, the events for Hexscape were the best places to grind candy corn and Operation I.C.E had logbooks. In terms of actual gameplay, all the nights in Hexscape feel like a slug fest with pure mindless enemy spam, a buggy night 3 boss, and a computer in night 3 that only serves as shock value. While the mechanics for Operation I.C.E. were much cooler on paper, most of the mechanics are half baked as evidenced by the misaligned dialogue. Not to mention the fact that you can completely ignore the mechanics by placing troops in the back, the mindless enemy spam(again), and fact that the shields actually slow down the gameplay. The event troops and the new cosmetics were fine, but TDS really just needs improve on their game design skills if they’re striving for people to actually replay these events.
So How Was Your 2024?
