Hi and thanks for the review. Is there any way that the device could be used for writing with normal keyboard? Can you connect it with BT keyboard or notebook (as secondary display)?
It'd also be great too see how apps like Kobo, Kindle, Scribd, Pocket etc. works. Main reason for me to get an Android based e-reader is to be able to use apps, which are not available on other readers.
Likebook released a firmware update that enables the Google Framework. You can also grab whatever you need by downloading APK through the browser. Before the update, I’d downloaded Kindle, Kobo, Libby, Scribd, and the NYTimes. With the built-in PDF reader, which is quite good, as well as now Google Play Books and Gmail, I’m totally set. I was thinking of returning this, but the company has also talked about releasing the capability to convert handwritten notes to typewritten text. They’re not terrifically responsive, but they said the update would be available “soon.” So...we shall see.
@@SaturnGirlWisconsin I have the mimas likebook and I love it. I just order this one but I think I am gonna return it I like the likebook is better . If they keep making update to the software I think is the best
I'm looking into these as a ringbinder replacement. We've eliminated so much paper with PCs but not all of it yet. I suppose this is an e-reader which they had the good sense to make into a notebook and drawing pad as well, hopefully other companies will do the same.
I was kinda ready to send mine back before the latest update which allows access to the Google Play Store. Now I’m really on the fence. I like the Onyx’s capabilities with notes, for example. OTOH, so far the Muses is doing what I want-and it’s a bunch cheaper.
Ilsa J. Bick except for the nook app the muses is doing well and I'm going to keep it.. But.. I want to also get the onyx haha.. Might just have to save up!.. Oh there is now an app on the proprietary app store that let's you blend the red and white lights
LOL!! I *know*. I, too, want EVERYTTHING! It’s the video that kills the Nook app on Likebook...so, I guess that’s why I sprang for the new Nook tablet earlier this year that I actually quite like as a travel tablet. The larger form factor is very comfortable for reading. But, yes...it’s hard being a gadget girl.
Am I right in presuming the Kobo app is available to install through play store? I'd also love it if you could demonstrate playing an audiobook using a player of your choice. (Or Smart Audiobook player, if I get to choose)
A comparison to the Muses woul be nice, got a muses a few days ago but somehow, now that i see the nova pro i think of returning it and getting the nova instead
Same here. I approached the Muses company to see when they will release the new firmware update so I can download the google play store and they said next week. I told them to hurry up and do it before the nova pro was released otherwise they would lose a lot of sales. We´ll see if they do or not.
Muses did release an update two days ago which now accesses Google Play. It might be my imagination, but I think the thing’s working better now. At the very least, I’m not tempted to send it back quite yet.
I have nova but i dont understand your explanation until minute 6.12. What apps of the book that can split? I only install moon, xodo, and boox apps only.
It really depends on how bright you have the Front Lights and how much you use the tablet. I mostly use mine for reading at night and for taking notes and I have to re-charge it once every week or week-and-a-half.
FOR BATTERY DRAIN: I'm not sure if this has any location-divining hardware, but I turned location services off, and turned off wifi, (I haven't used the Bluetooth yet) and after 5 days, with a couple hours of use per day, the device's battery level reads 91%. So theoretically, I should be getting about 100 hours of use out of a charge without wifi.
Are you able to make hyperlinks yourself on the Onyx Nova Pro. I mean placing a link on a page that directs you to another page when you click on that link.
How to do text to speech? I would like to be able to have my kindle books either read via Bluetooth or be able to read by flipping pages and in landscape mode is more comfortable to use.
Hi, can someone please tell me if I can also type using my bluetooth keyboard while reading in the split screen view? since writing by hand is quite slow. Thank you in advance! aaaand can I also download Notion app in here?
There is a mm of paralax, and it's not nearly as responsive as my Samsung Galaxy Pro 12.2, which is about the same price pre-owned. I'm wondering if they've figured out a way to just get the bit of screen that's being changed to be the only bit that refreshes, where in most apps the whole screen does. It's a super slow display technology, relatively speaking. That means no matter how hard you try, the screen just isn't going to refresh, even in tiny bits, fast enough to make a really satisfying drawing/painting experience, IMHO. If it did, I'd bank on it Onyx would put out a drawing-specific device. If I don't have my brain focused on the words of the notes I'm taking, if I focus on the stroke behavior, it's kinda janky.
I am really interested in seeing Kindle, Scribd, Libby/OverDrive and some other ebook apps on android ereaders. I currently own a Kindle and I'm looking for something that can manage every ebook app I use. Also I'd be interested in seeing how MobileSheets Pro works on android ereaders. I currently use it on my 10.3" tablet and I've seen that it has eink mode in settings.
Besides the stylus, is there nothing different between the nova and nova pro? Except the soft for writing, is the soft the same (said something about firmware 01.32)?
@@marxk4rlAnd even when it was available it was werry hard to find. Do you perhaps know why is that? By the way, it is still available on alieexpress and a few(werry few more places)
Nova Pro is the newer version of Nova/Nova Plus (Nova had no stylus, Nova Plus had stylus but no front light, so it's a combination). I think Nova is no longer in production, the items still on sale are from vendors' stock. Nova Pro is available in Europe on Amazon and other stores.
I've seen preorders available for US $300 at a site I refuse to endorse (unless you ask) since I've caught them lying and removing comments that exposed them. But that's the price I saw.
This device only support 2.4A usb.... so no usb-c adapter could work because usb-c is meant to be faster and higher charging rate. No MacBook adapter or others. This is a false advertisement...Don’t know why going to usb-c when it is same speed as micro-sub.
Price is a bit on the steepside but compared to the Oasis Kindle it has more features and from what I have read the battery life on the Oasis is quite poor - I wanted to get the new paperwhite but there are too many comments about the poor battery life on the model that I may just choose this one. I like the size akd the pen is an added bonus as I want to het back into drawing.
This should be used in all schools...
If only the writing note app where faster, that would be an amazing ebook

Honestly, which one is better: Onyx or Likebook?
haiman eltohamy following! I would like to know this also.
All signs seem to point towards Onyx

Yes. Wacom bakes that in.

It would be better for the note app if they have a multi-layer function for rough sketching.
As the screen is glass based, does it cause glare?
Sure, I bought it one week ago and that really annoyed me much
You are using the stylus most of the time. Which, if any, functions can be used with no stylus? (finger touch only)
Everything but writing.
how to export note when i take them in splitscreen with a pdf file?

Is Boox Nova Pro compatible with MS Onenote?
it runs android apps
Please do a video just on the note taking experience. And please don't just scribble. Write and sketch as best as you can. Thanks.

good for sketching, drawing?
Nope. There's a latency. You're better off going pc/laptop with wacom or ipad pro with pencil.

Tor Hunemark thanks. I have the boyue t63 (icarus 654) now. I am really happy with it. Costs just 100$. This is too expensive for me :( .

Can you use goodreads on it?
Can i open colorful medical textbook with this smoothly?
These are so expensive and you don't even get updated Android. In fact, Google now cut link with e-readers
??????????
Can you use Skype on this?
too expensive, i would buy this for $100
I'll just buy a notebook a pen, and a book, its way cheaper.
