A leaky valve cover gasket will make your car smell like burned oil since the oil will run on the exhaust manifold . So in this video you will see how to remove the valve cover and replace the gasket . The process will be the same on any 1.6 turbocharged engines from bmw or Mini Cooper S r60 countryman .

This looks so easy! Thanks for the video! Might need this soon, as I'm probably buying a Mini Cooper S C from auction that has a pretty bad oil leak.. my guess is it just needs a replacement valve cover gasket.

Nice video. Just be careful when working I that area with the valve remove to cover the engine so nothing drops in there.
I think people are forgetting that the 2 PCV valves are built into the Valve cover itself. Only 1 I have found to be replaceable. For the cost, easier to buy the new valve cover from overseas and replace it all at once. Likely the gasket isn’t the only thing worn out.
Easy job , there is a sequence to tightening the bolts back up and you need a torque wrench ideally

Even 2 years later, this is the only video on the subject I can find for an R60 mini. I have the 2013 countryman, but it has this engine, and not the older style. I'll be doing this repair in a few weeks, and I'd been trying to find a video on how to do it, because a shop wanted to charge me $600 for such a simple job.
I've been learning the mini community is full of diy folks. And what's most interesting is the part prices are really reasonable for an import
@@MatthewGill-nv4tb they are, especially if you know where to look. roommate turned me onto rock auto, and I couldn't be happier. There are some things I don't do myself, and really can't do, but for what I can? I'll definitely handle it on my own.

Do you have a video of replacing an oil pump solenoid?
Great tutorial. I'm borrowing this car from a friend and it has a leak. After searching for a while for the leak source, I see that the left side center cover bolt is basically sheared off and was just sitting in the hole. All other bolts are good. Can I drive like this until I get a new bolt or will this cause problems?
External oil leaks will not damage the engine but it will make the engine bay dirty and you have to check the oil level more often
Thanks for your video mate.. Mine has just leaked today from the front and back causing low/high oil pressure codes coming up.. Would this leaking cause these codes? Or isit another issue
the leaking is just a result of some problem which can be the oil level , oil channels or just a cracked gasket ( therefore low oil level )

yep, mine's a 2013 countryman, and it's got some oil in 3 and 4, but I haven't had the time to do the repair, and I didn't even know how until I found this video. Screw the shop that wanted to charge me $600 for something this bloody simple.

Are these cars reliable? Expensive to fix? I have a good deal prospect on a 2012 countryman all4 s model with 76k on it for 9grand but mini dealer near me closed so closest one is an hour away.. can a regular garage work on these cars or are they like vw’s. And a computer system nightmare?
In my opinion its a good car for the money ; All4 is good , it has a BMW powertrain so it is a " computer nightmare " as it is for all newer cars
