Really enjoyed listening to this. I am an avid reader. I wasn’t always as I am dyslexic. I thought I just couldn’t read because of it. About 4 years ago I discovered audiobooks and it changed my life. There is often a very silly discussion about whether or not that is actually reading. It’s so important to remember that there are readers of all types of abilities and audiobooks serves as a godsend for us! When I am in a reading slump I have discovered that changing to a completely different genre helps to lift me out of it.
@@staceyorr3057 Happy to hear that audiobooks have worked so well for you! And yes the format debate is truly unnecessary - everyone should read in the ways that work best for them. Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Using reading as a filler activity is such a great insight! I’m a huge fan of audiobooks, my eyes deserve a break 😅 spend enough time looking at text/screens all day
I loveeeeee the advice on reading a variety of genres! I think a lot of the time we're like 'ah, I fell into a slump, idk why' and then see we're on our xth [insert repeat genre here]. Been learning to step out of my comfort zone, and this was such an explicit, wonderful reminder to do so wih more intention and verve! (I think I am usually tepid-footed when I do so😂)
Kat!! I 100% hear you on that and I’m glad this gave you a bit of a push. I’ve found it difficult at times to pull away from my comfort genres but it definitely gets easier the more I do it.
I used to read religiously. But now due to my scheldule I never found the time to read. Thanks for reminding me to quit phones and replace it with books.
I'm certainly motivated to get out of my slump. I enjoy occupying my long flight hours with reading a book. Thanks for reminding me of my days of reading while commuting. I actually miss those now especially when I have to be chauffeur 😢
