I was put on Aimovig but had to discontinue because it raises blood pressure. My Doctor had all her patients stop the medication. Today Aimovig warns that the med will/may raise your BP.
I have been using Amovig for two months with over a 75% reduction of my migraines! I have suffered for decades with migraines, with almost no relief trying sumatriptans and some relief with the severity using Botox. Treatment has been only minimally successful treating each episode with Norco and ibuprophen. The results from Amovig has been nothing short of miraculous for me!
This is amazing information! I wish I would have listened to this when it first came out! Thank you so much for this helpful information. Great presentation!
I have tried aimovig injection and after 7 days l experience uncontrollable HTN severe headache numbness on face jaw back of my neck . I was in the hospital they did CT scan and wnl. They say they want cortisone but this also make my BP uncontrollable now they want me to do botox but I am afraid it might be worsen my Bp.
Dr.Nedal Barakat greeting this pathophysiology could not explain many points related to migraine these are - why migraine in most of patients is unilateral ? -why it is related to menstruation pregnancy and abortion ? -why migraine is more in females than males with ratio 2:1? - why migraine rear in younger children and fade out at the age of 65 years? -why we do have acidosis in cerebral blood circulation during migraine ? - why patients experience diuresis , falling sleep and thriving for sweet foods ? -as well could not explain the episodic type of headache ? hope that i can have an answer for these question
Is it available in Canada? Dose it work for patients who had neck trauma causing migraines? I tried everything available Botox Nerve blocks Most types of triptans, Maxsalt works sometimes Natural treatments Chinese medicine Preventive, like, sandomigraine, amitriptyline, beta blockers, keep hydrated, blood sugar seblized, physical therap, healthy diet, Sinuses surgery Eyes and teeth regularly checjed by doctors, What else can I do? My life is normal, no more than an average person stress, life is not perfect.
I to have tried tablet medication for chronic migraine. Mostly the tablet drugs like amitriptyline. There is different cgrp injections. From what i read ajovy has less side effects compared to emgality. What are you using now for your migraines?
I have to laugh Emgality states on its website they only expect to relieve upto 4 headaches a month (I have 11-14) and don't know the full ramifications health implications. Including rapid weight gain, not to mention you still have another prescription on top of them, doesn't seem like an improvement. Many are reporting nasty side effects. This in no way allows people to have a normal life.
Had to quit Aimovig. The side effects were unbearable. Rather have migraines instead. Ajovy is the same. The next for me is Emgality. I hope that one works. If not... then... Sh$t🤯
I was on Aimovig after 4 months my neurologist pulled me off of that drug and put me on Emgaity it's been 3 months now and I think they're actually worse My second neurologist looking for one more that can help me.
Aimovig did not work after 12 months Emgality has caused chronic constipation and I mean chronic along with a huge weight gain and depression. But .... it decreased my 6 migraines a week to 3 . If the side effects were not so bad I'd continue. I'm at 15 kilo weight gain so that's enough for me to stop.
What meds are you on now for the chronic migraines? Only meds i find to work are the triptans. However, triptans arent preventatives. Not taken daily. Destroys liver and maybe other body organs. Triptans constrict blood vessels and known to have side effects related to heart and respiratory area. Not suitable for people with heart and stroke patients. If triptans was safe for daily use, would be the cure for chronic migraines now. Cgrp is a 50/50 i think. Works some, doesnt for some. These migraine drugs make you gain weight hard. Since i been on these drugs, i gained alot of weight.
Emgality cut my migraine days by 90%, but I gained 14lb, was constipated, and had horrible weals and furious itching. I took a long break. I'm now using Ajovy, with less but still significant migraine reduction, and weight gain of only 5lb. The best way to control the histamine reaction - for me - is to take 2 antihistamines 30 minutes before the shot, and have the shot in the back of the arm. Then I go to bed for the rest of the day.
So, I'm in the throes of a horrible migraine, and looking for more information on CGRP Suppressors, and click on this one. BOOM!!! Some asshole beating on a drum so loudly I have to get out of bed and run to Alexa and rip the plug out of the wall to stop the pain. Seriously?? Stupid, stupid, stupid.
All Imitrex and similar triptans family have a very dangerous side effect. They induce a vasoconstriction while during migraine you have a vasodilation in the brain.Unfortunately the vasoconstriction with Imitrex and any Triptans occur also in the heart.Coronary spasm crises occur with Triotan. That is why they are highly dangerous.
Cost of Emgality in Australia $987.00 a month no Medicare no concessions. How on earth can anyone afford these drugs?
