Good information. In terms of Canadian and American culture, *experience* counts more than education for getting a job. It's a part of the region's history as being colonized by "self-starting pioneers". Unless you have an advanced degree from a North American or Western European university, your degree will likely not be accepted in Canada - even a medical degree -- or a PhD. However, if you have *documented* technical skills and *experience* in fields like accounting, trades, engineering, IT, etc. etc. you have a better chance. But it will *still* be difficult to get ahead as an immigrant from a non-North American or non-European country. People will assume that your experience is not the same as "Canadian experience". For a country where people come from all over the world, it becomes very difficult for employers to judge whether a person who worked as a dental hygienist or received an MBA in Korea received the same level of training and experience as a person from Cameroon. So they discount all of the non-Canadian experience. It's the hard truth.

another thing employers look at more and more is fit and soft skills. You can have a high level of education and still find yourself passed over if you seem too assertive or smarter than the management. Yep their insecurity plays a role. During the interview, appear affable and likeable. If you appear too ambitious, you may be passed over as they will think you will leave for greener pastures in 2-3 years. Assess the interviewers and their type of questions and adapt. If they are conversational, relax and project a friendly persona. another thing employers look at more and more is fit and soft skills. The fact that you are in for the interview means they think you have the technical background.
Great information. thank you very much!
There's no funny course.. I think your approach is quite mixed up. Our background is different from theirs. Education is a smooth way to get in. You can be in Nigeria and get all the certification but what are chances of getting a job in Canada if you are not in the country yet.
True thats why m doing a course in alignment with wat i know already and i will just do wat i have to do, i dont have a degree so its okay...al fix myself somewea somehow...
Thank u for putting sense into us, my intention was to apply nursing in canada...though I've not given up yet
Nurses are always in demand especially if you don't mind practicing in under served communities. The big cities are saturated and can be tough getting a non-casual position.
Wolo, thanks for your updates. I'm a military personnel with 7 years experience and a masters in Soil science while my wife is a medical radiation technologist(Radiographer) and we intend moving to Alberta (starting next year). Would u advice I take an international security based certification(CPO or PSP with ASIS) or go back to school to study nursing? Thank you
There are several security and law enforcement courses you can do, most times it is not required, you can just volunteer, get the canadian experience while volunteering and apply for jobs. You may not be eligible to join the Canadian force or any other military parastatal until you become a citizen. But other law enforcement agencies like the CBSA, Corrections and Police does not need any form of specialized education
Thank you dear for your good information and to give us your time to share with us essentiai information am watching right here in dubai but am ugandan but my dream is atleast to work in canada
Thanks for sharing your knowledge👍🏾I actually have plans on coming to Canada pretty soon.. I have a degree in business management. I feel like if foreigners in Hong Kong were given opportunities to study in the health sector, I would have been a nurse or pharmacist but I feel like it late for me to go into nursing or careers relating to nursing. As I got older, I developed a passion to work in the health sector.. do you think it’s a good idea to come to Canada and acquire a course or two from the health sector?
Hi Anthonient, No time is ever late to pursue your passion. You have a passion now that's in demand in Canada case closed. So, go on and do what you have to do to live your dream.
chris nwosu thanks a lot.. your answer is very satisfying👌🏾
@@chrischisom8487 do you guys think this advice is the same in the USA?

Please I'd like to ask, is kinesiology qualified as mainstream health course in Canada cos university of Regina is confusing me cos they said is an art degree?
Wow! Such an eye opening information. God bless ma’am.
oh yes you have to read up about Canada it's a very unique place. It's filled with racism, high housing prices expensive university degrees, high unemployment, lots of immigrants all competing for the same job, clean neighborhoods, clean streets, lots of stabbings, and lots of unhappy people
If the degrees are not relevant why ask people to have those qualification to migrate.? such a shame

I studied English LiteratureEducation. Do u have to go back to school to get masters or just do a professional course?
Thanks Wolo 😊 In your next video, Could you please make a comment about the actual situation in Alberta and Saskatchewan
What would you like to know? I live in Saskatchewan.
Hello Marina, I was referring to the economic growth for the following years and the apparent disappointment in the west
@@carolangelabedoya5202 There is a lot of tension, anger and uncertainty in the air . Most people are just concerned with mending relationships and improving ties for the future. It is a little early to try to predict any economic trends at the moment. We are hopeful that there will be a way around all of this; a way that hopefully won't involve any extremely harsh economic adjustments.
Thank you so much for the info
