- If the Bucks had lost to the Bulls because some rookie whose career totals were 2 fouls and 1 block over four games decided to go absolutely nuts and actually score points for once, I would've been pretty upset. You know how I always make fun of fanbases for uttering the phrase "why do scrubs always go off on us"? I would've used that phrase UNIRONICALLY, and I would never be able to forgive myself.
Luckily for me, the Bulls' coaches took Daniel Gafford out of the game in the fourth quarter (preferring the bricktastic Lauri Markkanen) with the score close, never put him back in, and the Bucks eventually pulled away to win easily. The coaches were already looking pretty bad, due to Gafford contributing significantly in his real minutes; I'm sure they didn't want to look even worse by having Gafford lead them to a win.
Bulls commentator Stacey King was calling them out as diplomatically as he could, but you could tell he was really baffled at what he was seeing on the court. And so was I. Why hadn't Gafford played major minutes if this is what he was capable of? And why does god hate the Bucks and see it fit to punish them by having scrubs go off on them?
The Bucks, sans Giannis, are not an above-the-rim kind of team, so they had no answer for the very above-the-rim Gafford. What's Ersan Ilyasova going to do when trying to defend this guy? The answer is try and draw a charge. He's not going to be able to stop any sort of lob, and neither is anyone else. Gafford slowed down after his hot start, maybe the Bucks adjusted or something, but I thought for a while that he was going to get 40.

Seeing this is exactly why fans are calling for Boylen to be fired. Gafford is definitely ready. He brings much needed energy to the Bulls.
But then what about Wendell Carter?
I think Gafford is much more ready than WCJ.
I think Gafford's game is more straightforward than WCJ, but WCJ was the high draft pick and thus the bigger investment. WCJ is also coming back from injury, so expect a rougher season.
I actually like WCJ's game, as he has interior off/def IQ and a bit of an outside shot. He seems very unique.

Lauri had been cold, but he looked like a future pillars least season. No way you don't invest in that. Felicio? I'm insulted you put Lauri and him in the same sentence (he was actually decent in FIBA; light-footed rebounder)

@@blackmanwhitesuit bulls will likely be really pleased that they secured him in the second round. Dude can just hang in the air and he has very good timing when following a missed shot by a teammate. He already has seemed to improve his ability from the top of the key and driving, something he almost never did in college

One of my favorite players from the draft. He's really energetic, but his game is raw. Bulls just need some direction to get the most out of him.

He would be perfect on your Hornets, PJ was a safe pick, he will be good too. Did y’all have another pick in the 30’s and passed on Gafford? Can’t quite remember. I was pissed the Celtics didn’t get him with 4 picks available 🤦♂️
@@AlonsoBall88 Yeah, we drafted Cody Martin like 36 with Gafford and a few other quality bigs still on the board. We are dying for shot blockers. Martin is fine, but we probably coulda gotten him with our later pick.
