Thanks for posting this. I did the bends as per your method and it's coming along nicely. The only issue I'm having is that there is a slight discoloration at the bend point visible on the surface due to the bending (not from over-heating). Maybe it doesn't affect the chrome, but it is affecting the Schulter brushed aluminum finish I have.
Because it is not made for it. I did that 10years ago. Its best to cut it or buy the edges that is made for schluters profiles. And ive been using schluters for 13years. Just from experience.
This profile is not intended to be bent at all, they make a radious profile for curves but even that one isnt intended to be bent at 90 degrees... just miter it, sand the edge a little with wet/dry paper. It looks better.
@@VVMVVMVVM Its not about the potential for failure, its about the unprofessional aesthetics, its "seamless" sure, but there is a big and obvious kink that developes and bulges out.
Question have you ever changed the angel of the u-channel “Schluter Deco-Sg“ for glass? Looking to install shower glass on a 45 but not sure how fit to the wall. Any thoughts???
Rondec, unfortunately no. I’ve gotten close but the metal will sometimes stretch causing the finish to not be uniform at the bend. Recommend either mitering or using the premade corners. 📝
Yes but in most cases you cant bend the profile first and then measure, you have to predict how long the profile you need before cutting, and it's a bit complicated to know in advance.
Imo, Customers prefer this look. It's more consistent and faster to get everything cut and aligned. It also doesn't catch your rags or fingers with a sharp edge while cleaning.
🤫 Definitely opinionated here. However, much safer to just bring it up to your client. Give them one or the other. Personally, I like this; cleaner, more crafty, rare, and it takes knowing to do it right. 📏

This happened to me today but I was using the white coated one and I luckily had enough spare to just cut it instead 🙏
just roll with it

No way the seamless bend looks way cleaner. I don’t see any reason why it would fail

emery board fine type
Awesome trick. I like it
Nice pointer 👍
Shit!! I wish I saw this two days ago when I profiled out the niche in my shower
Great work

Thanks ! Do you think this can be done with schluter bullnose profile ?
You would use bullnose instead of shluter

Cut it long by 3cm, then flip the piece upside down in place to mark the length or height. It's the way to go
i would accept this no problem
Can I use a grinder?
Yup
Dont do this. You spend 6x longer for it to look like Sh** !! Just cut it.

@@tjatileIt doesnt look better, they arent supposed to be bent and they deform when you do, miter cut looks MUCH cleaner.
