- Hey everyone! Back with another video addressing the differences between computer engineering and hardware engineering. Again, similar to software engineering, there are very few differences between the two but this video will, hopefully, shed some light on this topic. Please let me know in the comments if you found this video useful/informative and what else you would like to see!
quiz: How many times do you hear the word "computer"?
What is Computer Engineering?

Thanks for watching!
Lol i just enrolled yesterday in computer engineering and i just saw my subject hell i have 25 units.. and goodluck for mee
Oh wow 😳 well I hope everything was and is going well!!!
I am majoring in computer hardware engineering . Thank you for video !!
Thanks for all the informative videos you may get a lots of success in your life
Hi. I am a college student who originally was a computer engineering major at a CSU when I was in HS but instead went to community college and looking to transfer to a UC or CSU now. In UCs such as Irvine and UCLA they have a major called Computer Science and Engineering or CSE which is basically half CS and half CE. Although CE is good I feel like u only get a moderate amount of software and hardware knowledge where as in CS for example u get a good foundation for software. So with CSE being more focused on software (as I am more interested in software) would be better for ppl like me. I wish CSUs would offer CSE as it is remarkably similar to CE, it is still a separate major. Good vid and it's true that CE isn't just entirely focused on hardware or as the intersection of EE and CS.
I'm majoring in computer science, so I'm here to learn more about it...😊
👍🏻
I am from India 🇮🇳
Your videos are very informative and insightful and I enjoy watching them! Can you do a video on what students who are pursuing a computer engineering degree should be doing over the summer to stay ahead and informed?
I agree, this would be a great video.
I will be starting my CE classes with a leaning towards hardware engineering this fall but it's been a while (2 years) since I last studied or worked on this ... so could u tell me the courses that are to be known like microprocessors, networks, os etc.,?
No
I’m currently going to enter my freshman year of college with a CE major, I found CE interesting but I don’t know anything about it. Do I have to know things about it or should I be worried?
Yes and both yes
Is it possible to major in Computer hardware engineering straight out of high school?
Thanks for your video! What are main skills hardware engineers sgould have? Do you know some good books/online courses/youtube tutorials for becoming skilled hardware engineer?
Hi! I think the skills really depend on the type of work you are doing. I can't think of any specific books for hardware engineers off the top of my head right now but I can definitely make a video about it soon if that will help. Thanks for watching!
👍
Can you please give some info on what programming languages are used in computer and hardware engineering? Thanks.
Sure thing!
I’m going into my freshman year of college soon and I’m planning on majoring in this field, I’ve built around 8 computers and have a high math score I’m hoping for the best :)
Any advice?
@@bradyfeldhaus6314 Sophomore CE student here. Start learning languages like MATLAB or Python, or learn how to do projects on something like an arduino or raspberry pi. Nothing really gets that interesting until you start taking electives. Freshmen engineering students tend to take mostly the same classes regardless of major
Does hardware engineers only work on circuit boards?
I meant Job structure, Salary , Job facilities etc 😐😐😐
Hardware engineering seems more for me. Granted I'm still only 16 so I have at least 3 years left until I go to college
same
That’s great that you already thinking about college! I could only think about getting my HS diploma at 16 and didn’t give college any serious thought until late senior year. And you’re right, you do have a lot of time to decide/change your mind so I wouldn’t worry too much about it right now (plus, you’re interests might change by the time graduation). Just try different things to see what you like/don’t like which could also include shadowing an EE engineer (or student) so you can see what you’ll learn, experience and expect.
@@TheSn12 yeah it's already changed 😅. I was thinking industrial design for a while but then I started getting into computers but I realize now that I don't want to do that as a job I'd rather industrial design.
@@sponge260 I'm think of doing hardware engineering also I'm 14 and interested in building computers and stuff
@@michaela4855 go for it man. I've changed my mind on it because of certain parts such as coding and stuff. Just remember it's not all building computers.
Can computer engineer work in hardware engineering
Hello, I’ll be starting Computer Engineering this fall 2020. I know that I will also learn coding and all and I’m learning Java at the moment and it’s my first programming language. Is there a programming language that’s vital to learn? Just curious. Thanks for the video, you really help me!
I wouldn’t say vital, but Python is definitely a language you should learn. Doesn’t really matter though, once you have one language down you can learn any other pretty easily
Which courses did u focus for the hardware side? I will be strtin my graduate CE classes this fall. But it's been a while since I went through them
Python, c++ would be useful as well
I am 1st .Nice video sis🤗
I have a grade E in maths I dont believe u need maths to do both. I built my first gaming computer just by youtube tutorial :)
I am fresher in Computer science engeeneering can I have scope to become hardware engeeneering
Yep! Will work on a more in depth video about Hardware Engineering. Thanks for your input!
Hey,
What would you choose
CS vs CE vs ITE ??
I really think that’s a personal preference. You can make quite a bit of money with all three however if you don’t like the work you’re doing then you may not want to actually major in that field. If you’d like to work on programming games then CS would be good, if you’d like to dabble in a little bit of everything (both software and hardware) then CE would be good. Don’t know too much about ITE but I’ve heard you’ll only need an associates degree and can land a job with a pretty good starting salary (~60k-70k). Again, it all comes down to personal preference and there are MANY more factors to consider that is too much information to put in a comment (I.e. do you want the highest paying job possible? Do work that interests you? Work remotely? Work with others? Is there a specific company you would like to work for?, etc). Although this is a good question so I might make about it soon! Thanks!
Thanks..!!😊💫
Hi, I'm jordan and I'm new to the channel
From what it sounds like in this video, it seems like Embedded Systems is pretty much the same as Computer Engineering.
I like your videos and I want to subscribe but you are at 2020 subs and I don't want to spoil it 😂😂
Daniel Ogunleye well it’s at 2027 now so go for it! Lol
Just did!! I had a lot of doubt and anxiety after enrolling for Computer Engeneering because I wasn't sure if I made the right choice but you cleared my ideas so you deserve it!! 💪🏾
I have a question: as a computer engineer does can work like software engineer??
Yes you can. It just depends on what you want your focus to be in as an Undergrad. Generally, in CE, you can have a focus in software or hardware around your sophomore/junior year. If you chose to focus in software then you can definitively do work as a software engineer.
I am from India I want to be a hardware engineer
Is it possible
please reply
Yes it is. Although I'm assuming you'd want to be a hardware engineering in America? If so, then I'm assuming will be much more difficult to do in from a legal standpoint because you may need to have to fill out a lot of documents to be hired as a full-time employee and (possibly) need to be a U.S. citizen for most jobs. This would even require more paperwork and may take much longer to process. But it is doable. It will just take more work and time.
@@TheSn12 mmm thank you for your wonderful information
Can you help me for to get more informations...
Bruh theres no difference between computer engineering and hardware (electrical) engineering at the undergrad level lmao. Theres a reason most ECE departments bundle the two disciplines together. It depends on the school, but true computer engineering is firmly rooted in the basics of electrical engineering.
