@Annie-mik J Tutanota may have updated their sign up process as this video is a couple of months old. I wouldn't dwell on it too much.
it's been more than a week now and it still tells me that i cannot send or receive emails. Appearently i first must write to a specific support address my reasons for using that account. Then again i cant send a mail to that address because they blocked sending mails in the first place. What can i do to fix this?

Alert. Lost "Tutanota" yesterday (10/7/20) When I search it up to go to its website I get the following sub-window message:
"The connection for this site is not secure
www.tutanota.com uses an unsupported protocol.

I have been with Tutanota for about a year, with very little problems and was dismayed when I got this message.
It has been mostly dependable and I need to get to my email account there.
In the sub-window message there is no path provided for me to try and clear this up. That's why I came here to find out what I can, about getting "Tutanota" restored to me.
Just now, I clicked on the url for "Tutanota"; above in the "Websplaining" comment. It got through! I was able to check my email.
I guess this is an indication that my problem lies in my computer security programs. I'll see if I can get into them to see if they have barred "Tutanota" for the sub-window reasons given.
Meanwhile I have subscribed to this "Websplaining" channel, so that I don't lose this path to my email that gets through to "Tutanota".

Do you recommend Tutanota or Protonmail?? I need something free, want to get away from Google, I'm so confused 😩
You can't go wrong with either service. Both are excellent privacy focused end to end encrypted email addresses. Tutanota has more features for free, is German made and gives you more storage with no limit on the emails you can send per day. Protonmail was developed by CERN scientists, Swiss made has less features for free with a cap of 150 emails per day. Protonmail however has the better premium service for the price paid. I hope that gives you some insight in making a decision but in my opinion you don't need to, just try both and see which one you like, then delete the one you don't like :)
@@Websplaining you certainly can. Tutanota is extremely difficult to create and you are really lucky if you manage to access any email address you finally manage to create. Protonmail does not put you through such an ordeal. It doesnt turn down your chosen email address as "invalid". And above all if you note down carefully the password you choose and then with what you have noted down in front of you enter that password you are not refused access to your email any of the times you try to access it to get started. So you arent subjected to the dilemma of trying to change your password using a code you havent been given. No unike tutanova with protonmail you get immediate access to your email as soon as you have created it - even if enter the email address you chose, yes and believe it or not even if you use the password you chose,
@@edwinreffell6201 Agreed about being extremely difficult to create a Tutanota account. I keep getting this "Registration is temporarily blocked for your IP address to avoid abuse. Please try again later or use a different internet connection" message. I have tried two different VPNs, VPNs off, different browsers, free and paid account selection, and different devices to setup a Tutanova account.
Reluctantly I will have to go with Protonmail, my second choice of email companies.

Pointless service. It is simply not possible to sign up for Tuta anymore. After trying many IPs, browsers and devices among about 15 of us, we have given up. What a joke:
