    For many of us, these analogue looking interfaces - with all the screws and handles and lights - make music production a lot more fun. Very few things give me more pleasure than tweaking the UAD Fairchild 670, for example (I have no life and that helps...) Good sound is one thing, but the whole creative experience is what keeps me going and experimenting. I like this analogue looking trend and would not want to see it go anytime soon. Although I like other, digital/experimental looking interfaces just as much. So anyway, we get your point about this, but I think most people see this differently, so we consider your constant complaining about this as entertaining sarcasm, rather than not understanding the purpose.

    Cool video! As an e-engineer i love analog gear but also good plugins. Opto dynamic gear use a LDR (light depending resistor) couppled with a lightsource. In old hardware small
    Lightbulbs were useed, but today they are using LED's to change the resistance of the LDR. But the LDR work in the opposite direction! They have a high (in the megohm range) dark-resistence and a low resistence (normaly 20-200 ohm)at max. brightness. In terms of speed they need a long time to reach the dark-resistance, but they "switch" relativley fast to the low-resistance, and therefore have this beautiful analog attack and release character.

    PSP make some great stuff. After trying absolutely tons of different EQs, I found that two of the absolute best were the Fabfilter ProQ and the PSP ClassicQ. The former was excellent for clean, transparent EQing - along with mid/side tricks - and I even used to automate the Lowpass and high pass filters a lot for creative tricks, as they sounded like the most precise, liquidy synthesiser filters if tweaked correctly. The ClassicQ then gave me the other flavour I needed - a “character” EQ. not only that, but the built in saturation on the output could drive signals, and also fatten them up by limiting them. You could really transform a thin source signal with this plugin. I bet the new stuff is just as good

    Waves Omnistrip does that. But gotta say PSP stuff is anyways better! They put in more work to make their shit 100% and you can tell. They are a great company! 7yrs to make this when McDsP and skate rushed to get theirs out? Well Slates sucks, it sucks, and all the lovers can go ahead and love it.. But this one you can tell how the levels stay the same... WOW, NOW THAT'S HARD TO DO WHEN YOU SWITCH BETWEEN MODULES! Very hard to do, programming wise! This is the new standard! Asiago check out their Old Timer MB compressor, you cannot make it sound bad, which is crazy for a MB compressor! It's actually easy to use too, which I've always had trouble with! It's crazy how awesome it is!

    Wytke what do you think of the Eventide Newfangled EQuivocate 26 band eq based on the human ear? I ended up liking it so much i picked their mastering bundle 'Elevate'. there is a saturator- not to mention, it is very intelligent. like you can solo each band out change the q for each band reduce or add bands, take away obtrusive sounds slightly elevate pleasant ones. very simple yet understandable UI i dare say it rivals ozone9 just diff algorythms, i like that you can control 26 bands of compresson and can change the limiting curve,. i dig ur shirts ima hafta get one that match RASTA colors lol. much love thanks for all your work

    Deffo try out the Scheps Omni Channel, it's genuinely amazing! And yes it also does the switching compressor styles and keeping levels as others have mentioned etc... And even has two full frequency de-essers which is dead useful! Would love to see your reviews / take on it! I get the idea with this one of only putting in modules that you're using and being able to switch them etc but just looks a bit messy if you're only using a couple where as the Scheps Omni Channel is all there all the time and just turn the right bits on, dead easy to see an over view of everything... plus sounds great! Nice video though, as always!

    Very cool. Reminds me of the great work TBProAudio did with their CS-5501 channel strip. It does the same thing as far as keeping the settings when you switch between different styles of EQ or compressor. The CS-5501 is not as graphically oriented. You change the routing order of the FX in a chain along the side, so you don't have to worry about dropping screws when you change your routing. The CS-5501 only lets you use 13 total components, though. Apparently, this one is infinite, though I don't know how great the quality could be if you have a huge number of FX trying to run at zero latency. This scares me, because we're not getting oversampling so it will have that crispy, digital sound from the foldback artifacts.

My question is I just purchased a psp and it’s set to come a charger And battery. But I heard a lot of people charge their batteries... It's not meant to emulate the color of an analog circuit (in terms of saturation or frequency response) but the FF Pro-C 2 does recreate the most common compression behaviours and comparing the attack-release curves and "grab" of the different topologies while keeping (mostly) the same settings is easy-peasy. McDSP 6060 does same job as PSP. Even with more modules. I love PSP and I have a lot of stuff from them, which are really great, especially EQs. But, why should I buy them if I have 6060? If you need really ambitious challenge, do compare PSP Infini to McDSP 6060, but not because of amount of modules but about SOUND. It is really hard to find which one will be better. Probably it will be equal.

    • @scottnelle

      I found 6060 to be really unstable on my system. I expect it will improve over time because 6050 and 6030 are quite stable, but for now I'm not able to use it reliably. Excited to try PSP's offering.

    • @TheMrFinalizer
      @TheMrFinalizer 4 года назад +1

      @@scottnelle For me it working fine. But, sound is too much colored for me even if I don't have any module on it. The sound is just too soft/too analog :) But other stuff from McDSP is more transparent. But anyway I choose softube channel strips as my first choose. There are too many product this type of the market. The sound isn't significially better on this or this vst producer. No, it is more of choose way you want to work or GUI, than choose of the sound. You can produce so good track with only couple of VSTs.

      $129 as an introductory price is simply unbeatable compared to $240 (offer price) or $330 (standard price), which the 6060 Ultimate Module Collection HD costs.

    Some well-known plugin companies were not even born when PSP made some serious plugins like Vintage warmer. Put Vintage warmer on your inserts & Busses and you'll know what do I mean. It beats every other plugin out there! And now they have a very impressive line of plugins like Old timer, Mix Pack, E27, Noble Q, Infinity strip and more...all oozing with warm, analog character not found anywhere else.

    I've always wanted that when you change from one EQ plugin to another that it would keep the same EQ or compressor etc. At least as many of the same setting it can. This should have been done decades ago. It's the same with guitar amp sims, you change from one amp to another they always change the settings, keep them the same so we can hear the difference with the same settings. To bad, I'm stuck on ProTools 8 HD so won't get this one anytime soon. 🙁
