This is actually avante garde as fuck. A medium of storytelling WITHIN another medium of storytelling. I LOVE that the developers did this. They could have simply had a cutscene explain the Toymakers story. Instead they made theater play about it, and made it interactive.
At some point in Mirror of Fate, you find a scroll on a dead soldier detailing how he watched a play that tells the sad tale of the Toy Maker being performed by the Macabre Puppets. Could this then be that same play?
The whole time I've seen the Toy Maker up and about, until that part when he recovered from Carmilla's blood (I think it is..... or maybe Dracula's? Nah!), and cried, and as that music played, I almost cried for the poor, poor soul, as it also gave me the chills. And all Dracula does is "Don't lose your heart, fat-ass" and leaves him in his pain (come on dude, don't be stupid.... he's a walking dead man! He doesn't have feelings!) Anyhow, this might be my favorite level of the game.
Actually you can see dracula pity and feel for the toy maker when he almost kill him. Then he said this to him "guard your heart well" as a hint that dracula respect toy maker and wants to his heart to stay pure as it was. " he also remembered what he have done to him" so if you look at it. You will respect him rather than hate h
That is Gabriel's blood. Carmilla doesn't exist in Lords of Shadow 2. The one we see in LoS2 is a trick conjured by Gabriel's darkness. It's just a manifestation, not the real thing.
@@akioyuja9206 Gabriel didn't do anything to the toy maker. He was imprisoned in the castle by Bernhard, before Carmilla ruled there. Though it is possible that Carmilla was the one who corrupted him. Though I wouldn't put it past Bernhard. They were a very occult family.
The story of the Toymaker reminds me of the origin story of the Toyman from Superman: The Animated Series. Both featured toymakers who were tricked by powerful men, and were unjustly imprisoned as a result.
I agreed. Even both stories have a striking resemblance in many aspects: - Both stories had a talented toymakers that were very skilled and capable to crafts fine toys. - Both toymakers had some dream of that their talent and creations were acknowledge by the world, making them vulnerable to the manipulations of shady people. - Both toymakers were visited by seemingly honest high class men (Walter Berhard/Bruno Mayhem), that made an offer too much good to reject; the chance to work in a great castle, and have his own Toy factory, allowing the toymakers accomplishes one of their dreams. - And both toymakers will ends regreting this decision of work with this shady men; both ended imprisoned, in a cursed castle by the decievement of Walter, and in the jail as result that the Toy factory was used for criminal activities of Bruno. - And in both stories, are involved a kids; the child that hides the heart of the toymaker, and the son of the toymaker that ended in several orphanages, leading him to become the villain known as the Toyman. - Adding that in Castlevania and Superman the Animated series, the past of the toymakers are told to the protagonists through of a puppet show.
Still doesn't explain how he turned evil and ripped people's souls to make toys and how he controlled all the strings and amazing how dracula didn't know if the toy maker lived in his castle hahaha
Well 1 Dracula is most likely chilling in his throne room so he probably has no clue who inhabits where in his castle. 2 The spell Walter Bernhardt placed on the toymaker explains plenty, plus Dracula's blood which also controls him.
The Castle is from Carmilla The Castle is also from the Bernharts who summon a powerful demon The same Castle from the DLC which explains the demon is the Forgotten One the most powerful being until Drácula steals his power This explains to you ?
We don't know who the boy is. And I think it's meant to be that way, so we can speculate. But the Toy Maker and the boy are meant to be symbolic of the relationship between Dracula and Trevor - as over the course of the game, Trevor gives Dracula his "heart", and Dracula give more and more of his love back. But I can tell you that the Toy Maker cries at the end for what seems like a couple of reasons. When he has his heart returned to him, he wakes up happy and cheerful. And after the fight, when the possession wears off, the Toy Maker is horrified and trembling. He obviously knows Dracula by reputation at the very least; and I know he gives Dracula the fragment *before* he recognises him - but I feel like that's when it dawns on the Toy Maker that if he didn't give him the fragment, then Dracula could only have too easily taken it and killed him in whatever way he felt like.
The demon was summomed by Walter. The Narrator mentioned a charm conjured by it. Could this charm possibly be the Crimson Stone in Walter Bernhard's possesion?
Because the Symphony of the Night fans are throwing a hissy fit over Lords of Shadows being different from the classics. Personally I loved Lords of Shadow (all 3 games). I'm planning to buy the art book.
Yes the Bernharts summon the most powerful demon (could be another one Who controls the toymaker) The Castle then is control by the 3 founders of the Brotherhood Then by Carmille and later by Drácula
Not the Toy Maker directly, the demon that curses/possesses him though is most certainly from hell and conjured by Walter Bernhard, as stated by the Toy Maker during his theatre play - they were an occult family after all and were known for conjuring demons from hell, such as The Forgotten One.
I'm guessing these puppets were made after the Toy Maker was hexed but I would've liked to see more kinds of this unique art style though I guess that's pretty selfish of me considering his story

Is quite the artistic and beautiful way to explain it. I love every part of it
Poor Toy Maker. May you find the happiness you so deserve.
Happiness without a regreat
“Goodbye old man.......
guard your heart well.”
Every time I see this I cry. Even my mum who doesn't like videogames that much loved this scene...
I want an emotional game about the story of the toy maker in which you play multiple characters along the story.
Can Ilhan now that sound like someting people would play, definitely.
Me too =[
Thats castlevania credit theme 2 i think

Try and make that a reality then

Most likely, yes.
Definitely the same one.

This was my favorite puzzle to solve in the game, it was fun and exciting.
I wish I could watch a performance like this one at my town's theater. 💝
It is these moments, right here, where LOS 2 shines bright. There is a good game beneath the poor design choices and konami bullshit.
I think the designs of this scene were pretty good.
very well put
HOUND93 what do you mean “poor design” they look fantastic.
Jacob Dahl I believe he means gameplay design choices.
Konami didn't do anything wrong for Los2... It was mostly the fault of the director.
The narrators performance really made this scene

They will never make a game like the lords of shadow and we will forever be disappointed when we will watch over old memories..
Very Guillermo Del Toro like
Poor Poor Toy Maker. :(
the good old days you dont know how much i finished this game
Perfect inauguration Voice 🤗

You clearly didn’t pay attention.
Still I ask 5 years later. Who is the boy who was given TMs heart and why does Toy Maker cry at the end.

My favourite part of this game. ❤
One of the best parts of the game. I love how tragic the LoS games get.
The demon was summomed by Walter. The Narrator mentioned a charm conjured by it. Could this charm possibly be the Crimson Stone in Walter Bernhard's possesion?
I thought he had the black stone and Mathias had the red one
Walter had the Ebony Stone Mathias was the king emo wielded the Crimson Stone.
Wrong Castlevania game, dudes
This thread lol
I love both Lord of shadow 1 and 2
Whay they dont make remastered
Because the Symphony of the Night fans are throwing a hissy fit over Lords of Shadows being different from the classics. Personally I loved Lords of Shadow (all 3 games). I'm planning to buy the art book.
masterpiece
Is the creature from hell in this story the same forgotten one?
Maybe.
Yes the Bernharts summon the most powerful demon (could be another one Who controls the toymaker)

I hate that it's an interactive cut scene but I do love the story the performance and the voice acting. Too bad it's still sort of a sad ending
I'm guessing these puppets were made after the Toy Maker was hexed but I would've liked to see more kinds of this unique art style though I guess that's pretty selfish of me considering his story
Guard your heart well

Walter Bernhard was the lord vampire of "Castlevania Lament of Innocence", the first game in Castlevania timeline.
