Best performance of this song I have heard on RUclips. Also best arrangement I have ever heard! From a former (and hopefully again in the future) choir director.
Touching! I sang Steal Away since I was a small child...at funerals... my aunt teached me spirituals like this. Purity and colors of the singers sounds amazing...so so beautiful! God’s creation!
I closed my eyes and just listened...God bless you, your families, and this tremendous witness on behalf of our Lord and Savior...The way in which this is delivered refreshes the soul...As walker0762 said, "Beautiful."
OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I actually JUST encountered this ensemble for the 1st time via Moses Hogan's setting of "Hold On." (What a great talent and loss we suffered in the music world with his passing). Anyway...I then maneuvered my way over to this clip, and was OVERWHELMED. This arrangement is OUTSTANDING!!! And the tuning of this group is IMPECCABLE!!!!! I love the lowered pitches that occur in the alto section (at least I assume it's them having never seen the score). BRAVI TUTTI!
This arrangement dates back to when Shelton Kilby lll lived in the D.C. area and directed a group called "The Columbians"...if you can even still find their album titled "Refreshing" ,you'll hear it from the Original...who did it....taking nothing away from MetroSingers...They do a credible job.
When I listen to this song it reminds me to steal away home to my prayer closet or any quite place to spend time with my Heavenly Father and savior Jesus Christ. Truly beautiful song
I HAD to leave another comment...sorry. lol And the BASSES in this ensemble are UNREAL!!! You all are SURELY blesses/fortunate to have SUCH a well balanced group. But, a question (to whomever is responsible for the decision): or, maybe this is a suggestion: how about a nice, slow recording of Randall Thompson's "Alleluia??" Or, as was said already, some Eric Whitacre pieces (i.e. Lux Arumque). Or, how about Arvo Paart's "Magnificat?" With BASSES like this, you MUST utilize them. Or...
Or, how about the Sergey Rachmaninoff's "Vespers???" Your BASSES could ABSOLUTELY do that repertoire justice. Just suggestions only...but, YOU GUYS ARE FABULOUS!!!! I am VERY IMPRESSED. Are you familiar with Kirby Shaw's "Without a Song?" Learn that and perform/record, it, too! :-)
Yes! I was busy writing a comment when I heard the voice and had to scroll back up and see who in the world was sounding like Walter Arties! It's so strange, because all my life I thought Walter Arties had a one of a kind voice; is this brotha related to him?

You all didn't let any notes go to waste! Wonderful arrangement. Some of the chords reminded me of First Call. Rock solid!
More like Take 6. Several of these singers passed through Oakwood University--the Alma Mater of Take 6.

We sang this in the Livingstone College Concert Choir. Great times!

I know this is an eight year-old comment, but I can't find any record of this album on the net. Do you have it or know where to find it?
