Andrew, thank you so much for asking my question to the coach. My name is pronounced "zoo-lay-kha" some folks who speak Spanish say it like "sue-lay-ka" so if you want to pronounce it in Arabic use the first if Spanish use the second. Thank you again! I doubt you'll have to say it on your videos but just f.y.i :) thanks again!

Hey RUclips world, this is your coach Vinny here. Thank you EVERYONE for all your kind, encouraging words. I just got done talking with my wife about how all of these positive vibes being sent my way are going to make me a better person, and as a biproduct a better OTF coach for all of you. Words genuinely can't describe the literal feeling inside of me when I read these loving comments. And a special thank you to Andrew Coleman Smith! I contacted him after watching his inspiring videos and he immediately got back to me. Without hesitation he trusted to come take class with a trainer he'd never met and for someone who is a self-described introvert I think that in itself is phenomenal. Andrew and I scratched the surface of synergy (the interaction of two or more energies to produce a combined effect greater than the sum of their separate effects). The key here is '2 or MORE!' If we ALL come together with positive mind sets and intention we'll change the world!! ALL of us! Love you guys!! ❤
Side note: My Facebook settings were private but I JUST changed them. I apologize, I know nothing about social media lol. If you tried to find me to send a message you should be able to now- I think. Thanks again for all the love!

So encouraging! I'm an introvert and shy, so never wanted to do a gym.... so I really love how dark it is, you can't see me dying, and it's loud, so can't hear it either 😂. I'm excited to do this for the accountability and pushing myself with others but having a personal trainer. So excited to continue my OT and fitness journey.

It was so cool finding your channel! I work at one of the main orangetheorys in toronto and it definitely is a life changer. Ive seen so many of our clients with awesome results . Not just in their body but even their personality as well. Their energy levels have changed, their diet is cleaner, their skin and hair are glowing and just wonderful seeing that. You have such a perfect personality for this and im so glad youre basically promoting it. You make me want to do the same !!

It’s crazy, but some things he said I can totally relate to- doing things you never thought you could! Since I’ve been going to OTF consistently my anxiety has decreased tremendously- it’s still amazing to me. I also did the tri-dri and when I walked in to the studio a week later I couldn’t believe a sign that said I posted top 3 females. It was so unbelievable to me- I never ever ever liked running- now I actually (kinda) enjoy it!

      @AndrewColemanSmith  6 лет назад

Right?! OTF is truly life changing in SO many ways. Ummm, CONGRATS FOR CRUSHING THE DRI TRI!!!! Not easy. Good for you! Also, on top of all those amazing things, the fact it’s easing anxiety for you is fantastic!!

Absolutely love this! It's so refreshing to hear an orangetheory coach who's been through a significant weight loss. Ive been big my whole life (heaviest 340lbs) and have recently began my SECOND weight loss transformation (lost over 100 pounds in high school and gained it back). This gives me more motivation and reassurance that I'm on the right path this time and I've actually decided to get my certifications and hopefully be an OTF coach soon!! Excited to watch more of your videos, keep grinding brother!

Omg...this is amazing! Especially the part where you guys discussed lower splat points after having higher ones. I have been experiencing that lately and feeling so frustrated. My heart rate decreases super fast during the recovery period and it’s even harder to get my heart rate back up into the orange zone. Thanks for doing this, Andrew!
P.s. you encouraged me to go on this OTF journey and I have to say, even though I’m frustrated with my splat points, I’m already addicted to it.

Just loving these videos as a true OTF (57 y/o) convert. Key to beginners: Do Not Compare!!! Get in your own zone and work at what you can do. Taking a break is FINE! There may be a triathlete to your right and a relative newbie to your left. Focus on yourself alone and your progression will fall into place. And for my own two cents, Andrew, really appreciate hearing voices of the 50+ crowd! This is so doable, no essential, for my peer group1

I found your channel when I was struggling with HUGE anxiety to use a certificate for two free weeks at OTF that I won at a silent auction, and your videos were a major game changer for me! After those two weeks, I ended up joining at the 8 classes a month level because I loved the results that I saw. Oh man, I feel a million times better after watching him talk about the splat points. I've gone 14 times total - 3 prior to COVID, 11 after and I rarely break through to the orange. I'm always so close, though (80-83). Typically, if I get 4-5 splat points after a workout, I call it a win. I've actually walked away before with 0, so I'm definitely feeling better after listening to him talk about this (around the 10:30-ish mark).

What's amazing about Orangetheory is that after years of going to different gyms I finally feel in control of my body and my fitness. Good tip I discovered about earning splat points while powerwalking; during the base pace and recovery phases I keep the inclines up maybe 3 or 4 percent. Keeps the heart rate up that much longer.

I watched this video on Thursday. Yesterday I committed to add that .1 to my push, as I was already less than 1 between base and push. This is because my brain seems to say, “Look. You’re already running and it sucks. It doesn’t matter that your base and push are merely.7ish apart from one another. Just don’t walk and you’ll be fine.”
Today I made sure the difference was 1 (without backing off yesterday’s increase in push pace). I also focused on my form in the weight room. As a result, I earned 4 points in the weight room (which NEVER happens) and earned more overall splat points than usual. Thanks for this video!

LOVE! Ok, not only was this incredibly inspirational as advertised but it increased my enthusiasm and motivation for my upcoming OT journey. The ONLY thing I would challenge in the video is the comment about losing weight. The focus is quite obviously on fitness here but I believe nutrition is at least 90% of the battle.
Coach Vinny...Your voice and cadence of speaking crack me up but you offer really great advice. It feels like you truly understand the weight loss journey and recognize we are all at different levels, on unique paths. I love how you remind us to listen to our bodies and go at our own pace. I am most inspired by those who understand that it's not about how you LOOK...but how you FEEL. You had me at VEGAN...GAH! I'm a 44 year old, 20-year vegan and can de-bunk the myth of all vegans being wraith-like creatures. You CAN be a junk food vegan! (Ummm...did you mention ice cream? Try Luna and Larry's chocolate hazelnut fudge "ice cream" or - and I just tried this recently - Ben and Jerry's vegan coconut 7 layer bar! But I digress...). Aaaaanyway...I am now a fan. Will you please come train at the new Issaquah location??? That is soon to be my home...

I'm sick too and on that note, I have been at OTF and other gyms where really sick people are working out. Having weak respiratory issues with asthma, past pneumonia, etc., my plea is if someone is that sick and contagious, PLEASE stay home. Unfortunately, I'll likely be slammed online for saying this. However, my asthma specialist and my family doc are in total agreement on this subject.

I really like OTF to get my cardio (since I can't motivate myself to do cardio alone), but I could never rely on this to look fit. Will you lose weight? Yes. Will you build significant muscle, which will ultimately change your physique? No. Proof is in all the members who go all the time. They say they've been doing OTF for 6-12 etc. months and they don't look too fit overall. They probably have strong hearts, which is great. But they still look soft and fluffy. On the other hand, if you put someone on a 3 month bodybuilding program, the physical change can be extremely dramatic. The problem with OTF is it's just too much cardio. The weight workouts don't focus on progressive overload. The weight workouts are too varied and therefore it's hard to get stronger in specific movements and in turn build solid muscle.
If you want to train your heart and lungs and feel great. OTF is awesome. If you have specific physique goals that include more than looking like a smaller version of yourself without any definition, then OTF is great. If you want to build a strong, lean athletic physique, focus on progressive overload weight training and use OTF to get a nice cardio workout 1-2 times a week.
FYI, I am speaking from experience. I did OTF soley for a long time, like Andrew does. I still looked flabby and soft. I decided to start focusing on weight training and within a few months, the change in my body was significant. As has been the case for several of my girlfriends who used to only do OTF.
