      Yep. we were even told indirectly how the culprit murders while using alternate personas, through Eva Beatrice.
      It is was just they were alternate personas of humans, instead of witches.

    When I first read this part of the novel, I thought that part where they covered Battler's ears was to prevent Battler from losing heart further. After learning the truth though, it turns out they're literally shielding Battler, and most importantly, the reader themselves FROM the truth. Beatrice saying that she'll make a move to deny witches is nothing more but her saying the truth of this tale. As a witch, as THAT person, she's the only person who was capable of making that move at that time.

      Last note, but the conversation between EVA-Beatrice and Beatrice at the end is VERY poignant considering what actually happened in the real world.

    • @Fragmentsinfractals488
      @Fragmentsinfractals488 3 года назад +2

      Actually, it is to hide the fact that Beatrice is controlling Eva Beatrice as a piece. She didn't say any red. She just told Eva Beatrice to go away, and Evatrice did, because pieces can only do what they are commanded to. We learn this in Episode 5 and 6.
      Beatrice does not want to just give the answer because then he will not see the heart.

    Eva Beato's red net of trues is a beautiful element on this game. It borders the game and disuades all the players and readers, not only Battlers, on the real true.

    46:28 .... So close yet so far to the truth.
    I can't believe how well these episodes age once you finish Episode 7 and "Our Confession".

  • @BenkaiDebussy

    Fucking lol, 46:30, where Battler inadvertently solves Umineko. Beatrice really wasn't kidding about him being incompetent, was she?
    Honestly, Battler's whole problem is that throughout all of Episodes 1-4 he's just never willing to think seriously about what the real solution might be. He never really tries to come up with a "unified theory", and just treats each murder as an isolated puzzle. At multiple points situations arise where it is clearly impossible for the person to have been killed in a traditional sense (like in Episode 3's closed room chain, where being killed by someone else and suicide are both ruled out and Ronove has to jump in before Beatrice also denies accidental death and corners herself in the process), but Battler never takes time to really think about this. He's always just fully concerned with winning the game (rather than actually understanding the truth).
    edit:And then Beatrice realizes the Nanjo murder is a good chance to finally get Battler to understand the truth and keeps telling him to not lose heart, but Battler, being the dumbass he is, just starts wailing.
    edit2: Oh man, and then at 56:30 when she realizes that Battler really might not be capable of understanding. I think many people tend to misinterpret Episode 3 as Beatrice just trolling Battler, but it's really just her trying a different approach towards getting him to think about the mystery (in this case through getting him to sympathize with her). But her plans goes *too* well, and instead of just sympathizing with her he ends up flat-out believing she's a real witch, which isn't what she wants at all (and is why she gives away the trick before he signs at the end).

      Yes. Beatrice herself is a cover for the true culprit. If he only understands the cover, and not why it is there, for Beatrice, that is a failure.

    • @Arkeyviste
      @Arkeyviste 2 года назад +5

      Is too easy to belittle Battler with hindsight, he dosen't even have a big motivation to defeat Beatrice, is just a whim before the end of Episode 4. And why learn the big truth if its purpose is only to contest? Umineko certify that he is one of the smartest, but he has the prospect of a barely 18 years old 80s brat, very anchored to conventional mysteries. He isn't even a person just a piece Tohya has to cope with everything. No one can solve Umineko on his first reading of the Question Arcs, not without notes or the luck to get the right guess and trust it without so much foundations. When They Cry fandom just pities Beatrice background, and have a bias over Battler; in a story that continually insists on never blaming the single person.

    If I heard her say something about the people dead or alive, I think I could corner her maybe, but I don't know for sure if I would come up with that, if I didn't see everything.
    I would say: "Repeat, there are only 3 living bodies after the Nanjo's death, no more, no less. Repeat, count of all the dead people reffers to the count of the dead bodies. Repeat, Eva is not the culprit in this game. Repeat, there is only one culprit in this game. Repeat, there were only instant deaths in this game."

    Update: Yeah I know how Will answers it in Episode 7.

    • @pancakes4193
      @pancakes4193 4 года назад +18

      2 years late, but I'm quite sure even Erika would've had difficulty fighting Eva-Beatrice's last riddle about Nanjo's death. If we're talking about EP6-Erika that is. The answer to Nanjo's death is also the answer to Kanon's closed room escape trick after all, and Erika wasn't able to solve that. Certainly though, it would've been very entertaining seeing her fight. Now I kinda want an alternate sidestory of Erika solving the four previous games.

    • @pancakes4193
      @pancakes4193 4 года назад +14

      And I'm pretty sure Erika's the type of person that would crush that Kyrie riddle with ease, likely even saying, "Just by the existence of this cigarette butt, this level of reasoning is possible for Furudo Erika. What do you think, everyone?" *ahaha.wav*
