We frequent the Nanaimo area to visit family. There is no shortage of hikes and beautiful scenery, which the video made evident! The added feature of hiking is the slowing of the aging process!
It sure is! We were passed by a small group of older folks with a dog who made the steep incline look easy! Not to mention the trail runners who can complete the entire ascent in about 30 minutes!
This is the best video you have made so far by far!! You showed more scenery and the new camera was awesome!! Too bad you did not go for a walk in Amonite falls beautiful and nice trail! The bird is a raven ! They make a lot of funny noises ,you must go to Ladysmith and try their bakery unreal blackberry cinnamon buns ,tortilla pie yum yum
Reasons to come back again! The lineup at the bakery was out the door when we arrived at 9:30 (they opened at 8) and they were nearly sold out of cinnamon buns when we got to the counter. The blackberry one sounds amazing!
Hi! So fun to revisit Nanaimo through your Lens! You did much more than us when we visited! I guess we will have to go back. The bars! Ahh so good! Maybe you can make some with the recipe and share that with us too 😉🤗
Good idea! Tiny kitchen baking episode maybe 🤔 The first couple of times we'd been there we didn't know there was so much to do. So glad to have had a local with us who knows all the great spots to check out!
I remember years ago driving to the top of Mt Benson in a 4x4, at that time there was a fire look out tower with a worker stationed there. He kept a visitor log book for visitors to sign!
Nice video. As a nanaimo resident I can confirm this place is pretty epic. You really appreciate when you start living in other places. There’s like 10X more things to do in Nanaimo, a city of 100,000 than Edmonton, a city of 1 Million
@@HomeARoam Agreed. You got several crystal clear lakes and rivers within driving distance, loads of mountains and hills to climb, beautiful places to walk in the forest or along a beach or something and if that’s somehow not enough, the local skiing hill is just an 80 minute drive up North. 10/10
The footage from your snorkelling trip is amazing! We had no idea there was such interesting things to see in the water this far north. Also, we could use a Nanaimo bar recipe :-)
yeah there are lots of cool creatures in the waters here. You just have to be brave enough to face the cold water! We got you covered on the Nanaimo bar recipe. 😉
I am a Nanaimo gal , so thank you so much for this video !There are lots of awesome walks here . That bird you heard was a Raven . I'm just wondering if you are from the Island ? Take care and enjoy God's nature. Thanks again !
Hi! Thanks for helping identify the bird call. Their vocal range is so incredible! We are not from the island, but we have lived there and love visiting when we can.
Well for me it was that cinnamon bun with the raisins and the Underwater footage. Best Nanaimo bar was at Pirate chips Restaurant downtown she was in dragon's denWith the deep fried bars.
@@HomeARoam I find Victoria and Tofino to be phony overrated and overpriced tourist traps. Nanaimo is surrounded by natural beauty that beats both of them.

Mmmmm cinnamon buns........breakfast of champions! Great video.
Totally the breakfast of choice for getting us up that mountain. They were absolutely delicious 😋
Wow what a beautiful place to visit and quite possibly to live, cant choose just one nice thing about Nanaimo, I loved the whole video awesome
Thanks Greg! Yes it's a great place to visit and live. Perfectly located on the island for visiting other parts, too!
Max and I watched together and he really enjoyed the underwater footage. Especially the purple starfish.
Yay! More to come in future videos 🐟🐳
As Nanaimo residents, we can affirm you did our city proud. Great video and great job on Benson... that is a tough climb!
Glad to hear it! Yes, Benson was tough, but the cinnamon buns got us to the top 😋
The island is great just $$$ to take the travel trailer there. Nice job guys.
Yes unfortunately the ferry can be pricey for oversized vehicles. We were able to get a super saver deal and save 50% by traveling at off-peak times.

Always enjoying your videos, great content and looking forward to my trip next spring. Thanks
Wonderful! Trip planning is one of the fun parts of travel. Happy trails!
That is a great hike! Nice view! Thanks for sharing!
It was definitely a good workout! So wild that people trail run it 🏃♀️

Tbh, I didn't knew about snorkeling at neck point. Next time, I'm definitely gonna do that.
Yeah, I wouldn't have guessed that either, but it was actually a lot better than I had expected!

That's cool. We crossed an old 4x4 road on our way to the top. That must have been the trail you rode up!
Awesome video!! Keep up the great work 🙏👍🏼
Thanks! 🙏

Nanaimo is so great because it's close to mountains, ocean, and other cute towns. It's a great location to be in.

The bird sound was a Raven. They make a wide variety of sounds including a water drop imitation
Thank you for helping identify the bird sound! Lol, a Watercooler sound in the middle of a forest would be hilarious. Such interesting birds.

Sounds amazing! Deep fried Nanaimo bar sounds tasty!
Round Island Decourcey Chain
We've heard about this island, but sadly there is no ferry, and we don't have a boat. Maybe one day we'll get to go check it out.
Hahahahaha I love Mel's Fe=male tee. Awesome!
Girl power! 🌼
The ravens and crows can imitate sounds so they trick people just so you know
Yes, their vocal range is so fascinating!
ha ha, Raven, parrot of the north.
Lol, we've never heard them called parrots of the north before, but it seems to be a fitting name 😆
Nanaimo is so beautiful but always seems to get painting in a negative light. Jealousy maybe? The media love to smear Nanaimo.
It's a great little city. . Maybe not as sexy as Victoria or Tofino, but an authentic west coast community.
@@HomeARoam I find Victoria and Tofino to be phony overrated and overpriced tourist traps. Nanaimo is surrounded by natural beauty that beats both of them.
How could you not check out the local meth scene?
We didn't notice anything out of the ordinary on our visit. All cities have their issues, and we didn't think Nanaimo was any worse off.
Not to bust your bubble, but it looks boring
Consider our bubble burst 😜
Wtf is a sea star !!!! Lol😂😂did you go to a school lol
🤷♂️ I thought it was a fairly common term? www.google.com/search?q=sea+star
